I Was Unreasonably Dumped By My Girlfriend And Had My Heart Broken. When I Rescued A Beautiful Girl Who Was My Former Classmate And Idol In My Class From A Group Of Yarisa, My Gray College Life Started To Shine - Chapter 16
Episode 16: The Sunlit Girl and the Sleeping Beauty
The supposedly long 90-minute class ended in what felt like no time at all.
One could say it had been melted away by the picture charade.
It was the first university class for us.
Even though the content was predictable, I should have taken it a bit more seriously. After all, my parents were paying for it.
With a slight sense of guilt, I tidied up slowly.
Beside me, Hikari was all set, holding her tote bag with the materials already packed, and she was already standing up.
She seemed somewhat impatient.
“Well then, shall we go?”
“Go where…?”
“Oh, come on. It’s obvious, isn’t it? Remember the end of the picture charade we played earlier?”
After thinking for a moment, I understood too.
If we were looking for a place where we could eat all the dishes and ingredients we drew earlier, there was only one place.
“Yeah, let’s go to the cafeteria.”
“Wow, you get it! So, hurry up, Nogami-kun! There’s a rumor that seats might become scarce. Everyone leaving now might be heading to the cafeteria.”
“You worry too much. Even without you saying, I’ll tidy up quickly.”
I haphazardly put my pens back into the pencil case and shoved it into my backpack.
As I was about to stand up, I noticed.
The girl on my right was still asleep.
In fact, upon recollection, she had been sleeping throughout the entire class to the point where I forgot she even existed.
Was she that tired?
However, it felt a bit awkward to just leave without waking her up after seeing her in this state.
“Um, class is over.”
I tapped the desk to announce.
Slowly, her face lifted with a slowness that made it seem as if time had stopped.
Her hair was in an outrageous state.
The ash-orange hair was curly and seemed completely unmanageable.
Her eyelids weren’t fully open, and there were traces of drool.
“Excuse me. Thank you very much.”
Despite her condition, she bowed surprisingly politely, which caught me off guard.
Reflexively, I also bowed.
I was about to signal to Hikari that we should leave, but…
“Hey, are you a first-year too? That student handbook, right?”
Being able to strike up a conversation here, she truly was a sunlit girl.
“…I’m majoring in Japanese history in the Faculty of Literature.”
“Really? I’m Hikari Aoba. And this is Keito Nogami-kun. And you are?”
“Seira. Seira Imazato.”
“Seira-chan. How about the three of us going for lunch now? University students should go for a great deal at the cafeteria, right? Let’s get along as new students, okay?”
Or rather, this was monstrous.
Inviting a complete stranger whom I’ve never talked to before to have a meal was beyond my common sense.
I was greatly surprised.
“Hey, Nogami-kun, is it okay?”
“Um, yeah.”
All I could do was nod vaguely.
But considering her state of waking up, I didn’t think she’d accept a sudden lunch invitation.
In fact, she seemed visibly drowsy, her head still not fully awake.
Yet, surprisingly, she nodded.
…Though it seemed like she was just nodding off due to drowsiness.
