I Was Unreasonably Dumped By My Girlfriend And Had My Heart Broken. When I Rescued A Beautiful Girl Who Was My Former Classmate And Idol In My Class From A Group Of Yarisa, My Gray College Life Started To Shine - Chapter 10
Episode 10: Distrust of Humanity?
We stumbled upon the volunteer club, Tiana by chance. Enticed by the food, we decided to listen to what they had to say and were greeted with surprisingly warm welcomes.
“I’m Nagano Masaru, the president of this Tiana club. I’ve been serving as the president for three years. And this is our vice president, Shizuoka Akari. You may remember us as the prefecture combo. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for coming! Please feel free to listen to our story.”
The president even made a solemn face and extended his hand for a handshake, leaving me feeling bewildered, but I responded.
By the way, Aoba was about to shake hands in the same way, but the vice president, Shizuoka-senpai, stopped him with a word of caution, “Be mindful”.
After that, we received an explanation about the activities of the club. We were introduced to some of the activities they had done in the past, mainly through passionate speeches by the president.
“Please accept this.”
It seemed he wouldn’t stop. We were suddenly handed what seemed to be the club’s uniform shirts, but…
“I haven’t decided to join yet.”
That was stopped by Vice President Shizuoka-Senpai.
As we engaged in somewhat comedic conversations, it seemed like it was time.
We were led by the two seniors to the welcome party venue.
Surprisingly, it was a room in a high-rise apartment building.
“You wouldn’t expect this in the deep mountains of Hyogo. A party room for rent. Isn’t the city too amazing?”
Since I couldn’t come up with any other response than Aoba’s, I simply nodded.
“Is that so? It’s normal in Tokyo.”
President Nagano said, but to me, a country bumpkin, it didn’t feel that way at all. Just getting on the elevator made me exclaim, “Wow,” at its speed.
The interior of the room we were led to was also magnificent. There were long tables in the main room, and even with twenty people or more, it didn’t feel cramped.
Moreover, there were extra-large TVs and sofa seats set up.
While being captivated by that, Aoba and I sat side by side.
It seemed like we were the last to arrive. As soon as we sat down among the seats filled with new students, the president’s greeting began.
“Thank you so much for noticing this club and for gathering here today…!”
It was a long and overly enthusiastic talk.
Although I felt sorry, I half-heartedly listened to it.
There were other new students who were clearly dazed, and there was also a guy stealing glances at Aoba. Even here, her beauty seemed to attract attention.
Well, Aoba’s gaze was fixated on the dishes, but when she noticed me looking, she puckered her lips.
Deciphering it, the message seemed to be, “Looks delicious” .
What a carefree person she was.
While thinking that, I was suddenly poked in the side by Aoba.
Right after that, she said, “I’ll go wash my hands,” and left her seat.
It seemed like a signal for me to follow.
I waited a bit before heading to the restroom, where I found Aoba standing in a somewhat imposing manner.
With her hands on her hips and her legs apart.
“What are you doing, Aoba-san?”
“That’s my line. You’re surprisingly quiet. Is something wrong? Aren’t you having fun?”
So, that was the topic.
I scratched my head and answered honestly. There was no point in hiding anything from Aoba anymore.
“…I might be losing the ability to talk to people.”
To begin with, I’m quite shy around new people. I’m not good at conversations with strangers.
With that incident on top of it, maybe it exacerbated things.
In just one day, I’ve learned too much about the scariness of people.
“What are you talking about? You can talk to me, can’t you? Moreover, you can joke around and your comebacks are spot on.”
“That’s like evaluating me as a comedian, hey. …And, it feels different when it’s you, Aoba-san.”
“Huh, I’m also a proper human, you know?”
“No. In your case, I think you’re more of a superhuman.”
If it were an ordinary person, I probably wouldn’t have revealed all these circumstances.
That’s precisely because Aoba Hikari is a unique person who can easily slip into anyone’s heart.
“And besides, we were already acquaintances. We’re from the same hometown.”
“Yeah. You’re right, I forgot about that. It’s different from meeting someone for the first time.”
“Anyway, I’m not good at conversations with large groups of people. So, don’t worry about me and just enjoy yourself—”
I was about to say that, but I was cut off by her voraciousness.
“If that’s the case, leave it to me!”
Aoba raised her thumb, closed one eye, and returned to her seat with a heavy breath.
Although I had a bad feeling about it, when I returned a little later, there had been a seating change.
Another girl was sitting in the seat next to Aoba’s.
…She seemed to have unnecessarily considered it.
