Aura twisted her lips slightly at the end, glaring straight at the Demon Lord.

Using part of her massive body to press against the table, Aura leaned forward, intimidating the Demon Lord.

“Choose. You have two options. Remain a weak kingdom that begs for males by handing over Ken-chan or destroying the human race and letting the demon race rule the world.”

The Demon Lord closed her eyes slowly and fell deep into thought. A heavy, tense silence filled the room.

Why the Other World’s Gender Ratio Became Skewed

To give birth to a male child, the XY chromosome combination is required. If the chromosomes are XX, the child becomes female. The Y chromosome is inherited only from the male side.

However, in this other world, the Y chromosome was extremely weak, while the X chromosome had the ability to forcibly suppress the Y chromosome and transform itself into a stronger X chromosome that fulfilled both roles.

Because of this, a child’s sex was determined by the contest between the strong X chromosome and the weakened Y chromosome. Children who should have been XY could easily have their pattern overwritten into XX instead, and be born female. This unusual trait was passed down to offspring. As generations continued, the influence of the Y chromosome grew weaker, while the X chromosome grew stronger. As a result, the gender ratio became drastically skewed, eventually reaching 1/3000.

In Ken-chan’s case, although his X chromosome would still have some influence applied to it, his Y chromosome from another world was overwhelmingly stronger, so it is believed that male children are somewhat more likely to be born. (Estimated probability: about 1/8.)

Note: In recent studies, it is believed this genetic alteration was an evolutionary remnant from an era when civilization was underdeveloped and many lives were lost, causing the species to adapt to prioritize producing females for survival.
