Abisu pressed the button for the first floor. The elevator arrived and as the doors slid open, I couldn’t hide my shock at the sight before me.

“This is…!?”

It was a desert. A vast blue sky stretched overhead, and all around was an endless expanse of sand. Even the sun hung in the sky.

“This is the training room. You can go wild here without any issues. The environment settings can be adjusted using the panel near the elevator.”

“Haha…! I take back what I said. As expected of a guild lead by an S-Rank Seeker… This is beyond anything I imagined.”

“I’m glad you like it. Now then, how about a little sparring match?”

Abisu pulled her hands from her pockets and looked at me like a predator eyeing its prey.

“A sparring match?”

“Yeah. A duel. As a handicap, I won’t use OOPArts. It’ll be a fair fight, just magic and martial arts.”

“Why do I have to duel you?”

“To assess your abilities. But hey, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. That said… How often do you think you’ll get the chance to fight an S-Rank Seeker? Are you really going to let this opportunity slip away~?”

Abisu operated the device next to the elevator. Suddenly, green bars appeared in front of both of us, like health bars in a game.

“These green bars decrease whenever we take damage. If it hits zero, you lose. Three direct hits from a three-character spell should be enough to deplete the bar.”

• • Moonlight Thunderstrike – Fires a crescent moon-shaped lightning strike.

• • Thunder Mine Sigil– Plants magic landmines on the ground or floor that detonate when stepped on.

• • Eightfold Bind – Implants eight wedges into the opponent, immobilizing them. (The wedges are intangible and cause no damage.)

Four-Character Spells (Advanced-Level Spells)

• • Phantom Motion Mirage – Creates and controls a single clone of oneself. (Effect duration: 3 seconds.)

• • Luminous Path Shield – Generates six points of light, connecting them with lines to form a barrier within the enclosed space.

• • Soaring Swallow Explosion – Launches a massive bird-shaped fireball.

Five-Character Spells (Special-Grade Spells)

• • Phantom Formation Mastery – Currently in training. Not yet usable.

“Alright.”

I had assembled my options in my mind.

“…Now, come at me.”

S-Rank Seeker, Abisu Yuiga. A peak I never thought I could reach. If I was mud, she was the clouds. If I was the earth, she was the heavens.
