C-Rank Labyrinth Tapilo – Lowest Floor
A battle was about to begin on the lowest floor of the labyrinth hall dungeon which was shaped like a pit made from stone bricks.
“You’re Yuna Asahina, an A-Rank Seeker from Odd Cat, right?”
There were two opposing forces. One side was a group of ruffians with delinquent-like appearances. The other was a pair consisting of a female Seeker draped in a black cloak and a petite female supporter with unruly hair resembling cat ears. Among them, the woman in the cloak stood out the most. She was exuding an overwhelming presence.
“What do you want? This labyrinth is under Odd Cat’s jurisdiction.”
A-Rank Seeker Yuna Asahina glared at the group of hoodlums.
“Yeah, see, that’s just a rule you guys made up on your own. Labyrinth resources should be shared by everyone! That’s what fairness is, right?”
“Don’t you know? ‘Time-limited labyrinths are managed and cleared under the jurisdiction of the Guild Association’—that’s a decree established by the Guild Association and ultimately the Divine Order. If you break this rule… It means you’re picking a fight with the whole labyrinth city.”
“Hahaha!! That’s great! That’s just fine by me! Bring it on. I’ll tear this rotten city apart!!”
The delinquent group numbered eleven. Every one of them wielded a glowing weapon. Five swordsmen, four gunmen, and two spearmen. Yet, despite facing an A-Rank Seeker, all of them bore expressions of absolute confidence.
“Onee-chan… Those weapons, could they be—”
Yuna’s supporter, Yako Asahina, broke into a cold sweat. If her instincts were correct, those glowing weapons were all…!
“OOPArts. I can tell just by sensing them.”
Even so, Yuna noticed something odd.
They’re OOPArts, yet they all have the same shape… What’s going on here?
All of the swordsmen’s OOPArts were identical in shape. The same went for the guns and the spears.
“Well, whatever. We’ll figure it out once we capture them.”
Yuna reshaped her cloak, extending it into a sharp, drill-like formation.
“‘Super Drill Buster – Yuna Special!!’”
Yako flinched at her sister’s naming sense.
“You’ve got brains and battle sense, but your naming sense is just awful…”
The black cloak transformed into a drill, extending toward the enemy. It was Yuna’s OOPArts, Cloche Hunt. Its form was that of a black cloak, and its ability was to “expand limitlessly as long as magic power remained and freely change shape.” When extended into the shape of something sharp, it could pierce rock. When layered, it could even repel cannon fire. It was an outstanding OOPArts in both offense and defense.
The delinquent group deflected the cloak’s attacks with their weapons. Their physical abilities were on par with OOPArts users or, at the very least, those who had undergone extreme body enhancement techniques. Yuna concluded it was the former. Mastering enhancement techniques required diligent training and discipline, and the thugs she was fighting didn’t seem like the type to put in that kind of effort.
“【Transparent Corridor】”
Yako activated the four-character spell 【Transparent Corridor】.Its effect was to “render oneself and any objects they touch invisible for several dozen seconds.” Yako turned herself and her possessions invisible, vanishing from sight. Yuna drew attention, disrupting the enemy’s formation and balance with her cloak, while Yako took advantage of her invisibility to take down disoriented opponents—this was the standard battle tactic of the Asahina Sisters.
However—
“Invisibility is coming! Get her!!”
The delinquents tossed baseball-sized iron spheres into the air. Each sphere was riddled with countless holes, from which sparks scattered.
“Ah! Hot!”
The sparks struck Yako, and white smoke began rising from her body. Even if she was invisible, the smoke made her position obvious.
“Yako!!”
Yuna realized. They were in grave danger…
“【Transparent Corridor】 users can’t cast other spells while it’s active and once activated, it can’t be canceled for at least seven seconds!”
“Must be rough being famous! People study your tactics, y’know!!”
The gunmen all aimed their barrels at Yako in unison. With no OOPArts, no magic, and airborne with no way to dodge or block… Yako. was completely vulnerable. She was about to be riddled with bullets.
“Onee-chan…!”
“Kuh, you—!”
Yuna spread her cloak wide, shielding Yako. Gunshots rang out, but her cloak deflected them.
“You let your guard down, Onee-chan!!!”
A swordsman and a spearman rushed toward Yuna, who had weakened her defense in the moment of panic. She managed to blow them away with her remaining cloak, but an enemy behind her slashed at her back.
“Tsk…!?”
“Onee-chan!!?”
One of the delinquents forcibly ripped off Yuna’s cloak. She tumbled to the ground, now clad only in her cardigan and long skirt.
“Hehehehe! Got your cloak!”
“Now you’re just a regular woman!”
Losing the physical enhancement effects, Yuna became nothing more than an ordinary person and collapsed on the spot. The outcome of the battle was already decided. And yet, the delinquents swarmed her, stomping on her mercilessly. Yuna’s scream rang out.
A scream Yako had never heard before. A voice she never imagined she would hear from her always strong, always cool-headed big sister—
“Stop it!!”
Yako forced her way into the group, throwing herself over Yuna.
“You can have the labyrinth! Just stop tormenting Onee-chan any more!!”
“Yako…”
“Hah? What the hell are you saying?”
“We owe you damn Seekers a lot. You think we’re gonna back down over something this small?”
“We’re gonna make sure we see the moment these elite, beautiful sisters fall from grace~♡”
The men’s leering gazes stabbed into them. Something horrifying, beyond her comprehension, was about to happen to her. Yako was sure of it. She shut her eyes.
“—That’s enough.”
A woman’s voice echoed through the air.
“…Tch.”
“Hakuda-san…”
The woman called Hakuda spoke in a voice filled with irritation.
“Our goal is securing resources. There’s no need to hurt them more than necessary.”
“Yeah, yeah, we get it.”
“We can’t go against Hakuda-san, huh?”
From between the men, Yako saw her, a black-haired woman with a snake tattoo.
