- I Was Stranded on a Deserted Island with a Beautiful Classmate
- Chapter 88 - Meeting the Oda Sisters in Uniform
After placing the big tree in position, I returned to the cave.
I met up with Amane and Kaede, and we headed straight for the treasure room. Now, I had to inform Kitakami and the others.
We retraced our steps, walking for over thirty minutes.
Finally, we arrived back at the treasure room.
“…! Hayasaka-kun, Amane-san, Kaede…you’re back.”
Kitakami, the only one awake, noticed us and welcomed us. The other girls seemed to be asleep from exhaustion.
“We made it back safely. We found an exit.”
“Really? I’m surprised. Did you have to blow anything up?”
“No, there was a hole leading into the forest. But…let’s wake everyone up. They should all hear this.”
“Understood.”
We woke everyone up.
“Good morning~. So, you made it back.”
“That was a good sleep.”
“…My head hurts.”
They were all a bit groggy, which was kind of cute. After getting them up, I explained that our classmates Tanaka and Akira had been hiding there, and that Tanaka had been eliminated.
“I see. So, Akira’s still alive?”
“No, with that injury, he shouldn’t have gotten far. Probably…not anymore.”
“I see. Then, the only threat left is the military.”
“Yeah. Let’s start moving the treasure out while we can.”
At that, Kusamochi spoke up.
“But, we can’t leave the island, right?”
“It’s fine. I already contacted the Oda sisters through Chitose. Help should be coming from the mainland.”
“Wow!”
“So, we’ll move as much treasure as we can and then bury and hide it.”
Everyone seemed to be on board with my plan.
With as much treasure as we could carry, we left the treasure room and headed down the path that led to the forest.
* * *
We transported the treasure and emerged outside.
Back in the forest, everyone sighed in relief.
“It feels so good to be above ground again!”
Chitose spread her arms, looking delighted.
“Yeah, Chitose-chan. It was so damp and dark in that cave, I really couldn’t stand it anymore.”
Kusamochi looked like she was about to cry, which I understood. After that, we all dug holes and buried the treasure, repeating the process several times. We had to bring it all back.
“Whew, but there’s still so much. How long is this going to take?” Amane said.
“Yeah. With that amount…even if we work hard, it’ll take at least three to five days.”
“What…no way…”
Plus, with Kitakami injured, the work wouldn’t be as efficient. Still, the rescue team should arrive soon.
As I prepared to keep moving the treasure, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Oh, right. There’s a signal here.
It must be within the Stargazer System’s range.
“I’ve got a bunch of messages. Looks like they’re from Riko.”
“Really? So we can use the internet here?”
“Exactly, Ooi. I’ll call Riko. Hang on.”
I quickly dialed Riko’s number. After a moment, she picked up.
“—Tetsu-kun!? Finally, I got through…Are you okay?”
“Yeah, a lot happened, but we’re fine here. But…”
“But?”
“Kitakami-san was shot in the shoulder. The enemy had a private military company.”
“A-a private military company!? Was it…Whitewater?”
“Oh, you know about them?”
“Of course. We’ve been investigating over here.”
So she knew. I hadn’t expected Whitewater’s name to come up. Maybe it’s a hot topic online.
“Are you guys on the mainland?”
“Nope, we’re on our way there. I heard your plane crashed?”
“From the Oda sisters?”
“Yeah. We’ll be there within the hour.”
“Seriously!? That’s fast.”
“Haste is best in these situations. So get that treasure ready!”
“Got it. We’ll move as much as we can. Call again soon.”
“Roger!”
The call ended. I shared the news with everyone.
“So, that’s the update. Riko will be here within the hour.”
“That means we need to hurry.”
“We won’t be able to get it all; there’s not enough time. But with the Oda sisters and Riko helping, we might manage it all in one day.”
“Let’s put our hopes on that,” Kitakami said with a smile.
For now, we had to rely on sheer manpower.
Until then, we’d move as much as possible on our own.
* * *
Thirty minutes passed. We managed to bring out a fair amount of treasure. We had filled up ten sandbags with gold and silver bars. Still, there was much more treasure left.
Captain Kidd must have had a hoarding habit to store so much in such a remote place.
Or maybe he had a strong reason for hiding it so well. Now, we may never know.
“…Looks like that’s enough.”
We carried the treasure out until nearly an hour had passed. It was tough work, and we were all sweaty and exhausted.
“We moved a lot. I’m sorry I couldn’t help,” Kitakami said.
“You don’t have to feel responsible, Kitakami-san.”
“But…”
“It’s fine. There’s happiness waiting ahead of us.”
Yes, we’d worked hard to reach this point, all to grasp happiness together. So…
“Yeah, we’re about to become rich.”
“Right. If we make it back safe, we’ll celebrate.”
Just then, we heard rustling in the bushes. Could it be soldiers!?
Everyone was on guard, but what appeared from the bushes was the Oda sisters.
“It’s been a while.”
“We’ve joined you now.”
“You…you’re twins?”
Tsuki and Hoshi were in school uniforms for some reason. Why high school uniforms?
“Tsuki-chan and Hoshi-chan.”
“Hello, Amane-san. Now that we’re here, everything will be fine.”
They looked confident.
“Thanks.”
“Yes, leave it to us.”
Now, we just had to wait for Riko and the others.
The treasure was buried in an accessible spot. Even if there was a sudden attack, we could still hide it if needed.
Hopefully, the soldiers wouldn’t find us…hmm?
