- I Was Stranded on a Deserted Island with a Beautiful Classmate
- Chapter 81 - A Sweet, Melting Kiss
Returning to rejoin the others, I saw that Amane and the group were sitting on some rocks, waiting. They noticed me and greeted me with a sense of relief.
“Welcome back, Hayasaka-kun.”
“I’m back, Amane. Everyone.”
“Did you manage to make contact?”
“Somehow. But the exit Marcus created was guarded by Whitewater soldiers.”
When I explained this, everyone looked surprised. I mentioned the brief skirmish that occurred, and a tense atmosphere settled over us. Amane and Kusamochi looked especially anxious. I understood how they felt; facing a professional in combat was hardly something I’d call sane. I’d avoid it if I could.
But since they’re coming to kill us…we’ll have to fight with the same intent.
“So…what’s the plan now?”
Kitakami, who had been resting, sat up. He looked like he was in pain.
“We can either defend this treasure room to the death or stick to the original plan and try to take down the soldiers.”
“Hmm, tough choice. We do have weapons.”
“Either way, we don’t have an exit, so we might just have to wait for the team from Honshu.”
“Or we could look for another way out.”
The map showed no more paths. This was the last place. So, we’d have to rely on our own search.
But wait a minute…
We did get one C4 bomb from Marcus.
“Kitakami-san, do you know how to use C4?”
“Of course. …Wait, are you thinking of blowing up part of the cave?”
He gave me a look of disbelief. That wasn’t exactly my plan.
“Marcus used C4 to create an opening. So I thought it might work if we tried from the inside.”
“Depends on the location. If we just blow it up anywhere, the cave could collapse. Marcus was probably lucky with his choice.”
Connecting us to that ‘trap room’ was impressive, even if it was by chance. But given that he seemed to know our position by GPS, maybe he planned it with some degree of accuracy.
“We’ll have to carefully consider the amount of explosives to use.”
“Yes, Marcus was a pro in that regard, after all. I’m sure he calculated everything.”
Military training, I guess, still had its perks.
“Actually, Kizuna could probably figure it out too.”
The moment Kaede murmured that, everyone seemed to agree. All eyes turned to Kitakami.
“That’s right, Kitakami-san can handle this.”
Ooi agreed as well.
“I think we should leave it to Kitakami-san.”
Chitose also strongly supported the idea.
“With everyone counting on me like this…Alright. I’m injured, but I’ll do my best to find a way for us to escape.”
“We’re counting on you, Kitakami-san.”
With that, we settled on our immediate plan. First, we’d defend this spot to prevent anyone from stealing the treasure. Then we’d plan an escape, with Kitakami at the center. Our team would be me, Kitakami, and Amane. Hopefully, we’d find a good spot for a controlled explosion.
“Looks like we’ll be living in this cave for a while.”
“Seems so, Ooi-san. By the way, how many days’ worth of food do we have?”
“Normally, it’d last a week. If we cut down to two meals a day, we could stretch it to ten days, maybe longer if we ration snacks.”
“That’s enough time. The Honshu team should arrive by then. Alright, let’s search for an exit while maintaining a defensive stance.”
Everyone agreed enthusiastically. It was settled.
—
Naturally, a cave like this didn’t have a bath. But after a short walk, we came across a small lake. It was probably fed by seawater.
The girls decided to use it as a makeshift bath.
They weren’t concerned about my gaze.
“What a nice view…”
“Where are you looking, Hayasaka-kun?”
Chitose gave me a side-eye and forcibly turned my head away. Hey, don’t twist my head so hard!
“Sorry, Chitose. I’ve already stepped onto the path to adulthood.”
“What…really? With who?”
“With everyone, of course.”
“No way…”
“It’s true. Would you like to join too, Chitose?”
She looked a bit conflicted but surprisingly agreed.
“Sure. I’ve always planned to stick with you, Hayasaka-kun.”
“That makes me happy. But why?”
“I told you before—you saved me.”
Oh, that incident. My embarrassing past. It was a story from my chuunibyou phase that I’d rather forget.
“Honestly, I’ve always liked cute, petite girls like you, Chitose. So, that’s why I helped you back then.”
“…That’s surprising. So we’ve both felt the same way all along.”
“Looks like it. But then, I met so many girls on this deserted island…”
“Right now, Amane-san is the one you like most.”
“…You’ve noticed, huh?”
“Of course. You’re always watching her.”
So they were aware of that. I wondered if the other girls had caught on too. Meanwhile, Amane and the others were bathing—completely bare.
“Everyone is so beautiful and cute.”
“Hey, Hayasaka-kun. Look at me.”
Again, Chitose twisted my head back to face her. She held a stick of candy in her mouth.
“Wait, Chitose?”
“Here, have a bite.”
“H-Have a bite…? Like the Pocky game?”
“Now’s your chance; everyone’s focused on bathing. Go ahead, take a bite.”
Well…if Chitose is fine with it, why not? So, I took a bite and began eating the stick bit by bit.
Our lips drew closer.
With each inch, Chitose’s cheeks grew redder.
Finally, she leaned in and kissed me.
I couldn’t escape as she held my cheeks in place.
She gave me a sweet, melting kiss, and my mind buzzed with excitement.
Such a heartfelt kiss—overflowing with love. I never realized how much Chitose cared for me.
I responded to her feelings, reaching out to her.
“…Chitose, can we…here?”
“That would be too embarrassing…Let’s wait until everyone’s asleep.”
“Got it. It’s a promise.”
We made a pinky promise.
Tonight’s going to be interesting.
