- I Was Stranded on a Deserted Island with a Beautiful Classmate
- Chapter 80 - Is This Heaven?!
However, the reception inside the cave is poor.
It seems we have to head back to the entrance that Marcus came through.
The twins seem to be hiding somewhere and are waiting for contact.
“Then, I want one more person to come with me,” Marcus said.
“I’ll go. I haven’t been able to help so far, so I want to contribute a little,” Ooi replied, raising her hand.
“Understood. Amane, please take care of Kitakami,” Marcus instructed.
“Okay, leave it to me,” she confirmed.
“The rest of you, Kaito and Kusamochi, pack as much treasure as you can into the bags.”
“Got it.”
“I’ll do my best!”
Both of them showed a willingness to cooperate.
With this team in place, we headed back down the corridor.
Holding the UZII, we walked slowly. We had to be cautious; a professional group might suddenly appear.
“By the way, Chitose…you’ve changed too much,” Ooi said, talking to Chitose. It seems rare for these two to be having a conversation.
“Eh, have I really changed that much?” Chitose asked.
Both Ooi and I nodded in agreement.
She hadn’t felt this reliable before. She used to feel like a fragile girl…more like someone we needed to protect.
However, after a month of training, her expression had changed. She looked like a battle-hardened warrior; she was a girl radiating soldier-like energy.
“Chitose, your muscles are amazing,” Ooi said.
“Ah, at first I didn’t like it much, but now I enjoy training! I might even get abs!” Chitose responded.
She looked really excited.
And she had mercilessly killed Marcus, showing how much influence Kitakami had on her. If she had been born in a different situation, she would have been a capable commander.
Now, Chitose suited camouflage clothing well.
At this rate, she might become a warrior on par with Kitakami.
We left the location of the treasure and returned to the fork in the path, heading left this time, which we hadn’t entered before. I felt like there had been a skull mark there…
The chances of traps were high.
However, if Marcus had come this way, there must be an exit.
“Chitose, you came from here too?” I asked.
“That’s right. But there was a trap. It was quite dangerous,” she replied.
“I knew it was a trap. What kind was it?” I inquired.
“There were poisoned arrows hidden in the cave walls. Countless arrows come flying out,” she explained.
Wow, that’s a common trap.
The pirates who set that up were impressive too.
“Is there anything else?” I asked.
“Yes, Ooi. There was a pitfall with spikes at the bottom,” Chitose said.
“Wow…it sounds like something from an Indiana Jones movie,” Ooi remarked.
I thought the same. They must have really wanted to protect their treasure.
We carefully entered the left passage.
Thanks to Chitose, we were able to move forward without triggering any traps. I could see a pitfall that had already been triggered. Peering inside, I saw corpses; there had been people who entered here in the past. Or perhaps they were ancient pirates.
We avoided the traps and made our way to the exit.
“Here it is. This is really close,” I noted.
“Yeah. That hole was made by that guy, I think he used C4,” Chitose said.
That’s quite reckless.
If things had gone wrong, it could have led to a cave-in.
However, since there was a ladder properly set up, it was easy to climb up and down.
“Now that we’re here, the signal should reach, Chitose,” I said.
“No problem. I’ll contact the twins,” she replied.
I left it to Chitose.
In the meantime, I looked at Ooi.
She seemed uncomfortable, avoiding my gaze…probably because of everything that happened an hour ago.
“Ah…Hayasaka-kun, um…I was really happy,” she said.
“W-What do you mean?” I asked.
“Touching skin to skin is really fun. I want to touch more,” she confessed.
“Uh, yeah. We can have more time for that from now on,” I said.
“But you know, I’m strange, but everyone else is strange too,” she added.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked.
“Normally, something like this harem? Doesn’t happen. I wonder why everyone loves Hayasaka-kun. It’s strange,” she pondered.
“Maybe living on this island changed how people see me,” I suggested.
“That’s true. You had no presence at school, and I didn’t know you until we met on this island. If we were living normally, I don’t think we would have had any connection,” she replied.
That’s right. If it weren’t for life on this island, I would have never had the chance to talk normally with Amane, Kitakami…everyone.
In that sense, I want to be thankful for the deserted island.
“At this point, I guess we have to live together with everyone,” I said.
“Yeah, we need you to take responsibility,” Ooi said.
“With the money, there will be plenty of room,” I assured her.
“I’m counting on you, husband,” she said suddenly, making my face heat up. That was…really impactful.
As I was feeling nervous, it seemed Chitose had finished her call.
“All done. I instructed the twins to contact Honshu,” she announced.
“Thanks. Let’s have Riko and the others send a boat to take the treasure out,” I said.
“Yes, I will convey that,” she said.
Chitose contacted them again, but I sensed a presence from outside…those heavy footsteps. Their regular movements indicated they were professionals.
There’s no doubt, they’re soldiers.
“Chitose! Get down!!” I shouted.
“—!!!”
I pulled Chitose’s hand.
Right after that, bullets rained down from a small entrance. …Damn it! Have they noticed us?
Moreover, they threw in smoke grenades, making visibility poor.
This is bad…!
They are charging in. I counterattacked with the UZII.
Because of that, they didn’t come toward us. Maybe they were cautious or cowardly…no, they are soldiers. They’re calmly assessing the situation.
“Chitose, should we block this area?” I asked.
“That’s the only option. Please throw in a grenade. Then let’s retreat quickly,” she suggested.
“It will collapse…but it’s better than being killed.”
I took out the grenade I had taken from Marcus, pulled the pin, and threw it toward the hole. Then I heard the sound of footsteps scattering like spiders. They’re panicking.
“We need to get out too!! Hayasaka-kun!” Chitose shouted.
“Everyone, run!!” I yelled.
Right after that…
“DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…”
A violent explosion occurred, collapsing the entrance.
“Ah, now we can’t get above ground,” Chitose said sadly.
It can’t be helped. Life is more important. I considered the possibility of fighting, but with our current numbers, it would be tough.
At the very least, Kitakami needed to be in perfect condition…
And I thought it might be better to wait for the Honshu group.
For now, we could only endure underground.
Of course, if we could defeat the soldiers, that would be even better.
“But this means we’ll be safe for a while,” Ooi said.
Ooi hugged my right arm.
Chitose puffed out her cheeks as if to counter by clinging to my left arm.
Wait, this feels a bit like déjà vu. I think something similar happened with Amane and Kitakami before.
“Ooi-san, you’re being too clingy!”
“Chitose-chan, you’re the one pushing your breasts against me.”
“I’m fine with it!”
“Then I will too.”
Is this…heaven?!
