- I Was Stranded on a Deserted Island with a Beautiful Classmate
- Chapter 40 - Midnight Battle
“It’s just a joke to lighten the mood. It has to be.”
That’s what I thought as I wiped the sweat from my face.
But…
“I’m serious,”
“…Wait!”
She’s serious? Well, it’s not really a problem, I guess. I think I could get along with Kitakami just fine. But that’s only if Amane turns me down.
So right now…
Hm?
I heard a rustling sound from the forest. It felt like something was approaching. At this time of night…? If it’s a nocturnal animal, it could be dangerous.
“Kei-kun, over by the forest…”
“Yeah…”
We quickly got out of the drum bath and hid in the bushes, moving away from the strange presence.
And then…
Rustle
There it was.
“Hmm, so this is the ‘base’ Kurashima mentioned? I heard there were beautiful women here, but a drum bath? Must be a bunch of washed-up students.”
From the bushes appeared a large foreign man holding a flashlight. He was wearing camouflage clothes, clearly not a student. And he seemed to be carrying a handgun too…
Could this be the ‘John Smith’ from the recording?
I whispered to Kitakami.
“Kitakami-san, that guy…”
“Seems like it. Let’s just observe for now.”
“Got it. But, he’s speaking Japanese.”
“Very fluent, too. He’s probably spent time in Japan before.”
“I see.”
The foreign man, who looked like John Smith, scanned the area.
“Damn, of all things, to have my ship stolen by a bunch of girls…And my employer vanished too. What the hell am I supposed to do?”
It seems he’s working separately from our grade head, Tachikawa. The guy’s acting alone.
The foreigner, looking fed up, headed towards the cave…This is bad. Everyone’s in there.
“Kitakami-san, I’m going to stop him.”
“No, you can’t. That man has a gun. You’ll get killed.”
“But can we just let him go and put Amane and the others in danger?”
As I struggled with what to do, the man kept moving forward. I can’t let him go!
I grabbed a rock from the ground nearby.
I threw it. It hit the back of his head.
“Ow! What the…A rock?!”
He quickly drew his gun and aimed it in my direction. He spotted me and pointed the gun at me…This is bad.
“…!!”
“Well, well, so there’s a boy and a girl here. And they’re just kids.”
“You…Are you John Smith?”
When I asked that, the man looked surprised.
“John Smith? How do you know that name?!”
“Who knows. More importantly, were you hired by Tachikawa?”
“You know that much? So, you’re one of his students, huh? Ha, looks like you two are just pawns in his game.”
“So, it’s true. Stop this nonsense!”
“Do you even understand your situation? I’m holding a gun. If you want to live, put your hands behind your heads.”
If we resist, he’ll shoot us.
Reluctantly, Kitakami and I put our hands behind our heads. He marched us towards the cave.
“What are you going to do?”
Kitakami asked the foreign man.
“Wake up all the girls and line them up here. Or the boy dies.”
“I understand. I won’t let you kill Kei-kun.”
Kitakami walked into the cave, shielding me.
A short while later, Amane and the others came out, looking groggy—then immediately froze when they saw me at gunpoint.
“Hayasaka-kun!!”
“Stay back, Amane…This guy’s a mercenary hired by Tachikawa. He’s dangerous!”
“But…No…It can’t be…”
Amane looked like she was about to run over, but Senyō grabbed her and held her back. Good move.
“Smart choice. Now, girls, line up.”
Amane and the others followed the man’s orders. What is this guy planning to do?
As I watched carefully, the man seemed to be inspecting the girls…No way, is he planning to attack someone?
After a moment, the man chose Amane.
“…Me?”
“You have a nice face. I’ll enjoy the others later. Now, strip.”
“I-I can’t do that in front of Hayasaka-kun…”
“Hayasaka? Ah, you mean the kid over there. So, you two are together? Haha, perfect. This is going to be fun.”
This guy…I’ll never forgive him.
But he’s got a gun. I can’t do anything. What should I do…?
No, I have to remember.
A few hours ago, I saw something that could be useful. I passed out for a while after seeing it, didn’t I?
That’s right. We have a weapon too.
I gave Riko a look.
She understood.
Now we just need to wait for the right moment.
Amane stood in front of the man. He grinned and reached out to touch her clothes…Now!
I grabbed a nearby torch and hurled it at the man. It hit him square in the face.
“Ow, what the hell?!”
But that wouldn’t be enough to stop him. I only caught him off guard. If I don’t act fast, he’ll shoot us. Before that happens!
“Kei-kun, catch this!”
“Thanks, Riko!”
Flying through the air came a can of pepper spray. I caught it perfectly. I rushed forward and sprayed it right into the man’s eyes.
“AAAAHHHHHH!!!”
I quickly grabbed his gun and aimed it at him. Damn, this thing’s heavy. Looks like it’s a Desert Eagle. A real one. It’s awesome.
The girls all rushed in and pinned him down, tying him up with some rope.
All right, he’s secured now.
“We’ve got him.”
“Thanks, Yaegashi-san.”
It’s over now.
But then, the man started acting strange.
“Heh…Hehehehe!”
With a maniacal grin, the man dropped something from his pocket.
It rolled across the ground…Wait, is that a grenade?!
Oh no!
