I Was Sent to an All-Female Frontline Unit to Get Rid of Some of the Trouble, but the Most Beautiful Girls Who Are Rumored to Hate Men Love Me So Much That I Have a Hard Time at Night - Chapter 61: To the City (1)
Chapter 61: To the City (1)
◆◇◆
The morning after I slept in the same bed with Elena, we woke up together.
We got out of bed and went to the living room to eat breakfast.
“This food is delicious today too!”
“Yes! It’s very delicious!”
Eating breakfast with everyone at the frontline base would be gone for a while starting now.
I thought about this while responding to Elena’s words, feeling a bit lonely.
But no matter the place, eating with everyone would surely be a happy time.
So, we finished breakfast.
We gathered our necessary belongings and went outside the base.
Elena checked with everyone.
“Everyone! We’re heading to the city now. Did anyone forget anything?”
“Everything’s perfect!”
“No problems here!”
“Me too!”
“Okay! Well, unlike the frontline, if we forgot something, the city has shops, so we can buy things… Finn, you didn’t forget anything, did you?”
“I’m good!”
To prepare for spare time, I brought a magic studies book to study anytime.
I also brought the notebook and pen I always used to record what I learned.
I was in a truly perfect state.
“I see… Then—”
Elena nodded and turned toward the frontline base.
“Barrier.”
She raised her hand and cast a barrier magic spell over the entire tower.
Then, the others followed Elena.
“Barrier.”
They cast the same magic over the tower.
“Now, neither enemies nor the Luvankrum Empire’s military soldiers can enter our base, so we can leave it safely.”
Indeed, hardly anyone could break a barrier spell cast by everyone, known as the Luvankrum Empire’s military’s strongest unit.
In fact…
“Casting a barrier spell over such a large building, and with about fifty people working together, your teamwork is truly amazing!!”
“!”
“R-Really?”
“Yes! You’re all so strong in combat, yet you can even perform barrier magic on a building, which you rarely use at the frontline, with such teamwork. That’s amazing!!”
“Getting such high praise from Tera in the morning…!”
“So cute…!”
“Can we see even more of Teraward-kun’s cute sides in the city…?”
“He’s already this cute, so any more would be too much…!”
Everyone’s cheeks flushed as they started murmuring.
“Okay, everyone! Let’s start moving!”
Soon after, Elena’s words prompted us to head toward the city.
I wondered what kind of time I’d spend with everyone in the city.
I was already very excited about it.

At the Luvankrum Empire’s military headquarters, Narcissus stood in front of a mirror, fixing his hair.
As always, he swept his hair to the side.
“Today is the day that commoner, Finn Teraward, and the reportedly beautiful women of the frontline unit head to the city.”
Narcissus finished grooming and murmured to himself.
He murmured, but if asked whether he felt nervous, he didn’t.
Instead, Narcissus felt joy at finally moving forward with the plan to assassinate Finn.
He also felt joy at the opportunity to meet the reportedly beautiful women soon.
And—
“But no matter what kind of day it is, my brilliance never changes… Heh.”
Though he had already finished, Narcissus swept his hair to the side again.
“I don’t know how beautiful the frontline unit’s women are yet, but if they’re as beautiful as that woman in the higher-ups, I might invite them to dinner… But here’s the problem. If I invite one, the other women will probably want to join me for dinner too… What a hassle! Is this the fate of the brilliant!?”
Narcissus held his head lightly, troubled, when someone knocked on the room’s door.
Immediately, a subordinate’s voice called out.
“The meeting preparations are ready!”
“Good work. I’ll come right away.”
Narcissus stopped holding his head and walked with his subordinate through the headquarters’ hallway.
They arrived at the first strategy room.
He opened the door and entered, seeing his subordinate soldiers inside.
As they saluted him, Narcissus took his seat.
“You’ve probably received the notice, but I’ve been tasked with the important role of leading the plan to assassinate Finn Teraward, orchestrated by the higher-ups. Choosing me shows the higher-ups have good taste… Don’t you think?”
Narcissus asked the subordinate standing beside him, and the man hurriedly opened his mouth.
“Y-Yes, sir!”
“Heh, exactly.”
Narcissus nodded with satisfaction, playing with his bangs.
“I myself feel gloomy sometimes… Why am I so exceptional in looks, lineage, and skill?”
The subordinates looked unsure how to react but didn’t interrupt.
This was partly because Narcissus was their superior, but also because he had undeniable skill.
“This mission is highly confidential. Even though he’s a commoner, if word got out that we assassinated Finn Teraward, a supposed ally, it would cause big trouble.”
“So, an assassination…?”
“No, that’s the last resort… Or more accurately, the final step. In other words, until that final step, I plan to proceed boldly and brilliantly.”
“Boldly, sir?”
After stressing the importance of secrecy, Narcissus declared he’d proceed boldly.
The contradictory words confused the subordinates, but Narcissus continued.
“Of course, I can’t assassinate him boldly… But I can defeat him. From what I hear, despite being a commoner, his skill has earned him respect from both commoners and nobles.”
In fact, women seeking Finn at the headquarters had grown far more numerous in recent weeks.
“But if we just assassinated him quietly, some might think to raise a rebellion against us… So, I plan to defeat him brilliantly on a grand stage.”
“Is that okay?”
“Yes, I’ve got permission from the higher-ups. As long as it doesn’t get out that the Luvankrum Empire’s military killed him, they’ve left the method to me.”
If successful, there was only gain, and failure was unthinkable.
That was Narcissus’s reasoning for not holding back.
“Heh, defeating Finn Teraward before me and stealing the hearts of the frontline unit’s beautiful women… It’s the perfect plan.”
While reaffirming his own excellence, Narcissus explained the detailed plan to his subordinates.
If Narcissus completed this mission successfully, he was promised a promotion.
In some cases, after this mission, he might even join the ranks of the Luvankrum Empire’s military’s top forces.
Thinking about that, Narcissus couldn’t stop the corners of his mouth from rising.
He was filled with the urge to fight Finn right away.
Though he added in his mind that it might not even count as a fight.
Feeling both pride in his strength and indulgence in his own world, Narcissus reveled in it.
