Chapter 22 – Shopping, Just the Two of Us
And finally, it was Saturday.
The weather is clear, a perfect day for shopping.
I arrived 30 minutes earlier than our meeting time.
“Damn, I must have come too early.”
Feeling a bit nervous, I waited for Momozono-san at the meeting place, a bench under the clock tower in front of the station.
This bench is nostalgic too. I’ve seen it a few times in the manga. I never thought I’d end up using it for a meeting.
“Takeda-kun, sorry to have kept you waiting.”
At that moment, I heard a lovely fairy-like voice and turned around.
There stood Momozono-san in a white T-shirt, pink camisole, and cream-colored long skirt.
Wow. She’s so cute!
I’ve seen Momozono-san in casual clothes in the original story, but this is the first time I’ve seen her in real life.
She’s as beautiful as an angel that I can’t help but blush.
“Hmm, the slightly dull pink of the camisole is mature and modern, and it matches the color of the skirt perfectly. The long skirt is also on trend with its sheer and tiered material. The brown bag and brown shoes are great accessories.”
…I thought I heard some fashionista checking the fashion, but it’s just my imagination, yeah.
“No, I just got here, I didn’t wait long.”
I made a blatant lie.
“Really? That’s good to hear. Let’s go.”
“Y-yeah.”
I’m in trouble. I’m so embarrassed and can’t talk well when I’m alone with Momozono-san.
I awkwardly walked with Momozono-san into the commercial building in front of the station and got into the elevator.
“According to Rinko-senpai, the craft store in this building has a wide variety of fabrics.”
“R-really?”
In the confined space of the elevator, Momozono-san and I spent the time talking like this.
This is bad. I’m trying to act calm, but I’m alone in a closed room with my favorite heroine.
My heart is pounding and my hands are sweating uncontrollably.
Come on, hurry up and get to the floor already…
Ding.
“Ah, we’re here.”
Then, we arrived on the fifth floor sooner than expected, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
“Wow, it’s huge.”
As soon as we got off the elevator, Momozono-san spoke up.
“Yeah. It’s huge.”
I was also stunned by the wave of fabric that spread out before me.
Not just fabric, there were threads, buttons, and sewing tools, way more than I’d ever seen.
“The entire fifth floor of this building is a craft store.”
“Oh, really?”
I’d come to places like this before to buy costumes with a cosplayer friend who was selling at an event in the “other world,” but the craft store near my house wasn’t this big, so I was surprised.
As an aside, this cosplayer friend is an adult guy who, ironically, dresses up as Momozono-san for events to help sell those doujinshi.
Come to think of it, my life in the “other world” really was devoid of women…
“Well, we’ll need casual clothes and dresses for Cinderella and her two sisters, as well as costumes for their mother, the fairy, and the prince.”
“Two outfits per character, sounds like double the trouble.”
The two of us looked around at the fabric.
“Ah, this fabric is beautiful!”
Momozono-san picked up a shiny purple fabric.
“You’re right. But it’s a little expensive.”
“Ah, right.”
Momozono-san put the fabric back, disappointed.
Even though the club funds were increased, it’s still limited, so it can’t be helped.
“How about this one?”
I picked up a similar purple fabric that was nearby.
“Hmm… but it doesn’t quite match the look.”
It’s true, the fabric seems cheaper and the color isn’t that good.
I looked around at a lot of other things, but the ones I thought were good were expensive, and the ones I thought were cheap were different from what I imagined, so it was hard to find a good fabric.
“You know…”
I came up with an idea.
“Instead of making everything from scratch, why don’t we start with store-bought dresses and add lace, ribbons, or sequins to make them costume-worthy?”
Her eyes widened in surprise, as if a light bulb went off in her head.
“That’s a great idea! It’d save us a lot of time, too. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that.”
Well, I probably wouldn’t have thought of it if I hadn’t seen my cosplayer friend (male) modify a store-bought uniform into the Momogaku uniform.
“For the witch costume, we might find something ready-made for Halloween. And for Cinderella’s pre-transformation outfit, we could combine old clothes.”
“That sounds good.”
“Then why don’t we go out and check out the online shopping site at the coffee shop upstairs? I heard the view from there is great.”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
And so, we left the craft shop and went into the coffee shop on the seventh floor.
