Chapter 19 – Choosing the Play!
A few days later, our clubroom was reborn. It’s now spacious and beautiful.
“Wow, it’s so spacious now.”
“With this, it looks like the seven of us could practice for a play!”
As Momozono-san and the others looked happy to see the sparkling new drama clubroom and practice room, Rinko-senpai came in.
“Sorry, sorry I was late. I was reading a lot of books in the library for the script.”
Rinko-senpai placed several children’s picture books on the table.
“By the way, we’re doing a play at the children’s center during Golden Week, right?”
“Sounds fun. I’m looking forward to it!”
Mikan and Momozono-san flipped through the picture book.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
There were a lot of unexpected things that happened, and everything unfolded quite differently from the original Momogaku story, but it seems the plot of the performance at the children’s center remains the same.
Now I have to pull myself together, mediate between Momozono-san and Takanashi, and do whatever it takes to make them like each other!
I remember what happened next.
I’m sure that in the original Momogaku story, they performed “Sleeping Beauty” at the children’s center.
Momozono-san was the princess and Takanashi was the prince. And because of the kiss scene at the end, they both become more conscious of each other.
Ah, that scene was thrilling, romantic, and great.
As I was grinning at that memory, Yamada nudged me with his elbow.
“Takeda, what are you grinning for?”
“Huh?! It’s nothing!”
No, this is bad. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Anyway, for now, I want to decide on the story.”
Rinko-senpai stood in front of the blackboard, wrote “Drama Plot” in chalk, and turned to face me.
“Takeda-kun, can you help me write on the board?”
Oh, that reminds me, I’m the vice-president of this club.
“Y-yes!”
I hastily grabbed some chalk and stood in front of the blackboard.
“Does anyone have a specific play they want to do?”
Rinko-senpai looked around at everyone, and Takanashi quickly raised his hand.
“It’s for kids, isn’t it? So how about Momotaro?”
“Momotaro…?”
As I wrote Momotaro on the board, I was gritting my teeth in my mind.
That’s a bad pick! There’s no kissing scene in Momotaro.
There have been a lot of unexpected things, but I need them to stay true to the original kissing scene!
I quickly raised my hand.
“How about Sleeping Beauty?”
I wrote “Sleeping Beauty” next to “Momotaro.”
“Any other ideas?”
Rinko-senpai looked around at everyone.
“Um, then how about Cinderella?”
Momozono-san suggested.
“Oh, that’s a good idea. It’s dreamy, and kids would probably like it!”
Yamada immediately agreed.
You’re sucking up to Momozono-san!
Just so you know, Takanashi is playing the prince.
“Anything else?”
“Well, how about Snow White?” Mikan suggested.
You just want to have a kissing scene with Takanashi, huh… It’s obvious.
“So, I guess these are our play options for now?”
Rinko-senpai put her hands on her hips and looked around at everyone.
-Momotaro
-Sleeping Beauty
-Cinderella
-Snow White
I stared at the words written on the board.
Hmm, the ones with kissing scenes are Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
If we follow the original story, we should have decided on Sleeping Beauty at this point, but——
“Excuse me!”
Yamada raised his hand.
“Sleeping Beauty only has the prince, the princess, and the witch as characters. Since it’s a special event, everyone in the club should have a chance to shine!”
T-this guy!
He’s spouting unnecessary things! It’s going to ruin the romantic scene between Momozono-san and Takanashi!
“Yeah, it’s better to give everyone as many opportunities as possible to shine.”
Of all people, it was Takanashi who agreed.
Damn you, Takanashi. I’m doing this for you…!
“But we still need a director, scriptwriter, set designer, and prop people, right? So maybe fewer actors would be better.”
I timidly raised my hand.
But Mikan objected.
“You can act while directing or writing the script. And people not in the scene can handle set changes.”
Why do you all have to make things so complicated?
“Well, but that would be a burden——”
Hmm, Takanashi pondered.
“Also, Snow White needs seven dwarfs, which is too many people, right?”
“That’s true, too.”
“Well, that means no Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.”
Rinko-senpai quickly erased “Snow White” and “Sleeping Beauty” with the chalkboard eraser.
Huh?!
Wait a second, what about the kissing scene?!
That’s an important scene between Takanashi and Momozono-san!!
“Now, the play will be either Momotaro or Cinderella.”
And so, my resistance was in vain, and before I knew it, the choice had become either Momotaro or Cinderella.
How did things turn out like this?!
