Chapter 13 – Yuu-Chan Wants to Join the Drama Club
I have successfully dashed the flag of Yuu-chan and Takanashi meeting.
However, a few days later, an incident occurred.
“Takeda-kun, a girl from the class next door is calling for you.”
It was lunchtime, and as the four of us were preparing to eat under the tree in the back garden as usual, a girl suddenly called out to me.
“Huh? A girl from the class next door——”
I had no idea what this was about.
As I thought this, I turned towards the door, and saw a familiar-looking beautiful girl with short hair and glasses.
“Yuu-chan?”
For some reason, Yuu-chan was standing there.
Huh, why is Yuu-chan in my class?!
Confused, I headed towards Yuu-chan.
“Yuu-chan, right? Why are you in my class?” (T/N: Okay, at this point, I don’t know if her name is really Yuu-chan or just Yuu + “chan”. Let’s just keep going)
Yuu-chan didn’t answer my question, and silently handed me a piece of paper.
Written on it were the words “Club Application Form.”
A club application form——does this mean Yuu-chan wants to join the drama club?
Why? I thought I’d finally managed to get rid of her flag with Takanashi, so why now?!
“Takeda-kun, what’s wrong?”
“H-huh? A girl called out to you? Takeda, how cheeky of you!”
Just then Momozono-san, Mikan, and Takanashi arrived.
Damn. If you guys come now, things will just get even more complicated.
“Oh, is this girl interested in joining?”
Takanashi quickly spotted the entry form Yuu-chan was holding in her hand.
Yuu-chan nodded.
“Really? That’s good. I’m glad there are other people besides us who want to do drama.”
Takanashi looked touched.
Oh no. This is bad. It looks like Yuu-chan is definitely going to join the club. How did it end up like this?
I held my head in my hands.
And so, we gathered under the tree in the back garden and listened to Yuu-chan’s story while eating lunch.
“Um, your name is Aome Yuu-chan, right?”
Momozono-san glanced at Yuu-chan’s name tag. Yuu-chan nodded.
“Yuu-chan, were you in the drama club in middle school?”
Yuu-chan shook her head.
“I see. Ah, but it’s totally fine even if you have no experience.”
Hearing this exchange, Mikan gave me a puzzled look.
“So you weren’t in the drama club in middle school, so why did you decide to join in high school? I mean, where did you find out about the drama club?”
Yeah, seriously, why? I thought I had destroyed her flag with Takanashi.
Could she have been that interested in drama?
Then Yuu-chan pointed at me.
“Takeda Tatsuya.”
Huh?
“Ah, maybe you wanted to join the same club as Takeda-kun?”
Momozono-san looked back and forth between me and Yuu-chan.
“Eh, really?”
Yuu-chan nodded.
“W-why would you want to be in the same club as me?”
When I asked, Yuu-chan began to speak bit by bit.
“My teacher told me to join a club. But there’s no club I want to join.”
If I summarize her words, since keeping up with Yuu-chan’s slow pace would take forever:
Apparently, she submitted her club application form with “None” written in the space for “Desired Club.”
However, she was told that unless she had a special reason, she had to join a club, so the form was returned to her.
The teacher told her that if there was nothing she wanted to do, she should join the same club as her close friends, but——
“So why the same club as me? Do you not have any other friends——”
Yuu-chan shook her head vigorously.
Huh, you don’t have any other friends? Are you a loner? What about the girls in your class? Even if you’re supposed to be a quiet character, can something like that really happen in real life?
“Well, whatever the reason, you can join.”
Mikan came up behind Yuu-chan and hugged her.
“You’re so cute~ Right, Ikkun?”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
Takanashi looked at Yuu-chan’s face.
“Aome Yuu-san, right? You might actually be good at being an actress. Now, lift your head. If you cut your bangs and take off your glasses, you’ll be even cuter.” (T/N: Damn good-looking protagonist! And this confirmed her name is actually just Yuu.)
There it is. That damned line!
It’s a little different from the original, but I never thought he would end up saying it anyway.
Now then, I have made preparation for this kind of situation. What will Yuu-chan’s reaction be?
As I anxiously watched, Yuu-chan raised her hand to her glasses with an irritated expression.
“…I like this hairstyle. And my glasses too. So, don’t say unnecessary things.”
Yuu-chan!
I cheered internally, making a huge fist pump in my heart.
Well done, Yuu-chan!
All right, now the flag between Yuu-chan and Takanashi should be broken.
Everything’s going according to my plan!
