Chapter 12 – The Silent Beautiful Girl Yuu-chan
Anyway, we have the five members we need to start the club, but I have some concerns.
And that is Aome Yuu-chan, who had won Takanashi’s heart at the original Momogaku.
This might have prevented Yuu-chan from joining the club, but it’s Yuu-chan we’re talking about. She had pushed aside other popular heroines to become Takanashi’s girlfriend.
She’s in the same grade and she’s in the class next to ours, so she might meet Takanashi at some point.
What could I do to reduce the chances of Yuu-chan meeting Takanashi and developing feelings for him, even if just a little?
And so, I decided to carry out a certain plan.
“There she is.”
Lunchtime. I spotted Yuu-chan crossing the corridor, so I pretended to go to the store and secretly followed her.
Yuu-chan is small and slender. She has short hair that covered half of her face with her bangs, and thin, black-rimmed glasses.
As expected of the heroine who ends up with Takanashi, overtaking Momozono-san, she is by no means flashy, but you can tell she is a beautiful girl even from a distance.
I followed Yuu-chan’s figure down the corridor.
Yuu-chan turned the corner and entered the biology lab.
Come to think of it, it was in this biology lab that Yuu-chan and Takanashi met.
I remember the scene where Takanashi and Yuu-chan met.
I’m sure the story unfolded as Takanashi was looking around the classrooms after school looking for the drama club room, and by chance met Yuu-chan reading a book in the biology lab.
That’s right, I remember it well. And then, Takanashi said something like, “Why are you hiding your face? Don’t look down. I’m sure you’ll be cute if you cut your bangs and take off your glasses,” and just like that, Yuu-chan fell in love with Takanashi.
I wonder why someone would fall in love with something like that. Isn’t she too easy?
And personally, I don’t get why she’d ditch her precious hidden-face and glasses-girl look to become just another short-haired girl.
Girls with glasses are already perfect just the way they are!
On a side note, while I’m a fan of big chests, I’m also a sucker for girls with glasses. (T/N: Combine both!)
——Anyway, that’s beside the point, I followed Yuu-chan into the biology lab.
“——Excuse me.”
I called out and opened the classroom door, and Yuu-chan flinched.
“Ah, sorry, did I surprise you?”
Yuu-chan looked at me with a wary expression.
“Actually, I think I left something in this room. I’ll just grab it and go.”
“…I see.”
While I pretended to look for something I had forgotten, Yuu-chan took out her lunchbox and a book from her bag and started eating her lunch.
That’s weird. Why is she eating lunch in a place like this? Doesn’t she have any friends in class?
No, that’s not important.
The problem is, what can I do to make sure that Yuu-chan doesn’t meet Takanashi from here on out, or that she doesn’t fall in love with him if she does meet him.
I looked over at Yuu-chan, who was reading a book while eating her lunch.
“Ah.”
I couldn’t help but speak up.
“…What is it?”
Yuu-chan looked puzzled.
“Ah, no, I have that book too.”
I pointed to the book Yu-chan had, “Encyclopedia of Cruel Medieval Tortures,” and Yuu-chan’s eyes widened in surprise. (T/N: Eh? Did I read that correctly?)
“You have this book too?”
“Yeah.”
The truth is, when I was in middle school, I aimed to be a novelist.
And at that time, I bought this book to come up with an idea for an enemy character who used a special move related to a torture device.
By the way, after I discovered Momogaku, I ended up becoming more engrossed in Momogaku fan fiction than the original, so the book ended up being useless.
“It’s pretty interesting, right? The illustrations are detailed, too.”
“Yeah… I think it’s interesting.”
Yuu-chan nodded hesitantly.
Okay, I was wondering how to start a conversation with Yuu-chan, but I think I’ve got an opening for now.
“Whoa.”
When I exaggeratedly raised my voice, Yuu-chan trembled like a small animal.
“Whoa, seriously, whoaa! Looking closely, you’re really cute. Your hairstyle is unique, and those glasses really suit you.”
“I-is that…so…”
Yu-chan looked away from me shyly.
“I don’t really like my glasses. But I don’t have the courage to wear contacts… so I grow my bangs out to hide them…”
So that’s what it was. I had no idea there was a character setting like that.
“No way! I’ve never seen someone look so good in glasses. Honestly, you’re really cute.”
I raised my voice.
“So, if anyone ever tells you that ‘you’d look cuter without glasses’ or ‘you should cut your bangs to show your face,’ just ignore them. After all, glasses suit you really well, and your hairstyle is perfect just the way it is!”
Pant, pant…
Damn. I’m just meeting this person for the first time, so maybe I got a little too excited. I wonder if Yuu-chan is scared?
But contrary to my fears, Yuu-chan nodded obediently.
“Okay. I’ll keep my hair like this. I won’t take off my glasses.”
All right!
“——Y-yeah, I thought I’d left something behind, but it’s already gone. Maybe it’s in another classroom. Well then, see you later.”
I’ve achieved my goal, so let’s go back.
“——Wait.”
As I made a show of leaving the classroom, Yuu-chan called out to me.
“Eh, what is it?”
“What’s your name?”
My name? What’s the point of asking my name?
“Me? I’m Takeda Tatsuya.”
“Okay. I’ll remember that.”
Yuu-chan nodded.
You don’t have to remember my name or anything.
“Thanks, see ya.”
I waved and left the biology lab.
Kukuku… Kukukukku. Perfect.
This should have shattered Yuu-chan and Takanashi’s flag!
Oh, I’m in awe of the perfection of my plan!!
In the original, I had the image of Yuu-chan reading a lot of stylish everyday mysteries and romance novels aimed at women. I didn’t expect her to be into such gory stuff.
Or maybe she really liked those kinds of books, and was forcing herself to read stylish books because she was in front of Takanashi.
Well, that’s possible.
I didn’t want my classmates to know that I was reading light novels, so I would cover it up by putting a Haruki Murakami’s books cover.
Yeah, I get it, I totally get it.

T/N: This side character is stealing the main heroine!
