Chapter 14: Captive Life Is Intense Yet Sweet
“No way, normally it’s the other way around!”
The moment I woke up, I yelled on reflex.
Because everything was completely backwards.
But yelling wouldn’t change the fact that it was already too late.
Right now I was lying on a bed inside a small cabin on the duke’s estate.
The door was locked tight, and right in front of me stood the person who had locked me in here—the duke’s daughter, Safira Hartz.
Even though she was doing something no proper lady should ever do, she wore a bright, cheerful smile.
“Good morning, Ask-kun.”
She greeted me calmly.
“It’s not ‘good morning’… Wait, what time is it?”
“Seven in the morning.”
“Then it is good morning!”
“Good morning, Ask-kun.”
“That’s not the point!”
Safira smiled softly. The morning sunlight pouring through the window made her look beautiful, but I wasn’t optimistic enough to just sit and admire her.
The conversation was peaceful. The situation was not.
I hurriedly tried to sit up in bed.
“Huh?”
Something was clamped around both my wrists, and I couldn’t move the way I wanted. It felt like I was chained by invisible shackles.
I fearfully looked down at my hands.
There, very clearly and physically, gleaming silver handcuffs were locked around them.
“Uwaaaah⁉︎”
I tried to jerk away on instinct, but the cuffs stopped me cold. The silver shine had stolen my freedom.
This is bad.
It looked like Safira had seriously locked me up.
I, the villain who was supposed to imprison the heroine, was somehow the one imprisoned by the heroine instead.
Faced with this incomprehensible situation, I couldn’t help yelling again.
“No way, normally it’s the other way around!”
“Ask-kun?”
“Imprisoning people is my job! Why am I the one in cuffs?”
Cold sweat ran down my spine, but I forced myself to stay calm and demanded an explanation.
Safira leaned her weight onto the bed, straddled me, and brought her face close.
“There’s only one reason. I want to keep you locked away. I want to have you all to myself.”
Her blue eyes should have sparkled like jewels, yet for some reason they looked strangely clouded.
Just looking into them felt like being pulled into a deep, bottomless abyss.
“—!”
Her fingertips traced across my chest as though carving her existence into me.
“Nh!”
Then she lightly pinched me.
A faint pain forced me to feel her presence whether I wanted to or not.
Duke’s daughter Safira Hartz.
Her fingertips, her sweet scent, her breath—every single thing burned itself into my mind. I felt like I was losing it.
And I wasn’t allowed to run.
All I could do was watch myself be ravaged by her.
※
How much time had passed since then?
Classes had definitely started at the academy by now, and our classmates were probably wondering where we were.
While we were skipping school, the two of us sat facing each other with flushed cheeks.
“Haa… haa… Safira, isn’t this enough already?”
“Haa… No way. I’m not letting you out without my permission.”
“…I can’t hold back anymore.”
Our breathing was rough. Tiny beads of sweat had formed on her forehead.
Our bodies were burning hot from the fierce clash, and only the sound of our panting filled the room.
This had been inevitable.
The moment she locked me in here, I knew it would come to this.
“Haa… haa… I’m… still totally fine.”
“…I-I haven’t even gotten serious yet.”
“You’re shaking, though.”
Our hearts pounded wildly as we threw everything we had at each other on pure instinct.
There was no reason left. No composure at all.
It was nothing more than raw desire colliding.
I circulated magic through my whole body and glanced at the floor. The broken remains of the handcuffs I had shattered with brute force lay scattered there.
In other words, I had freed myself on my own—but Safira wasn’t the type to give up over something like that.
Realizing restraints wouldn’t work, she grabbed my wrists with her own hands and forcefully pinned me down.
And so here we were, staring at each other from point-blank range while wrestling with everything we had—magic-infused, full-power struggle.
Put simply, this was a fight.
A battle between me trying to escape the locked room and Safira trying to keep me inside.
But at this rate we’d never get anywhere, so I tried talking.
“How about a truce for a minute? I came to this cabin because I wanted to talk to you in the first place. I want to talk with you, Safira.”
“That’s fine. Talk like this.”
“I can’t relax when you’re holding my wrists.”
I protested, but she just kept smiling and said nothing.
She didn’t loosen her grip and didn’t look away even once, so I could tell she hadn’t let her guard down at all.
I had no choice but to keep going like this.
“No matter how many times I think about it, this is backwards.”
“Backwards?”
“I don’t understand why you’re the one locking me up.”
It was so far out of left field it actually scared me.
“We barely even knew each other before this. Why me of all people? If you’re going to imprison someone, there are way more suitable candidates than me.”
Five years ago we met once. That was it. We hardly had any connection. It wasn’t nearly enough trust to justify locking someone away.
If she just wanted to lock up anybody, there should have been people far more worth the effort…
“There’s no one else.”
She said it like it was obvious.
“For example—”
“It’s only you, Ask-kun. Only you ever led me out into the world. That’s why you’re special.”
The moment she whispered the word special, the light vanished from her eyes. They looked dark enough to swallow me whole.
This is bad. A very dangerous switch just flipped inside her.
Realizing I was in serious trouble, I put strength into my whole body and tried to break free.
But no matter how I moved, she didn’t budge an inch.
“I got stronger, you know. So I could catch up to you. So I could stand right beside you.”
“If you want to stand beside me, maybe get off me first?”
She acted like she hadn’t heard a word and put on an expression of pure bliss.
It was the face of a predator—one-sidedly toying with its prey.
“Ask-kun, only look at me.”
Then, in a way no duke’s daughter ever should, she confessed—and slowly brought her face closer.
And thus—
I, the villain who was supposed to imprison the heroine, was imprisoned by the heroine instead—and kissed.
It was a sweet, sweet, dangerous kiss.
