The next day during lunch break.

I had come to the library during today’s lunch break as usual and spent time reading a book. By the way, today I was reading a mystery novel. The series had been adapted into a drama a little while ago, so I figured it was probably a popular mystery novel.

I had never read anything from this series before, but the drama adaptation made me curious, so I decided to try reading it today for the first time. It turned out to be pretty interesting, and I ended up getting completely absorbed in it. As I was enjoying another quiet day reading in the library…

I showed her the cover of the book I was reading, and Sakagami’s eyes sparkled brightly as she said that.

“Ahaha, it’s not like I know everything. I just keep track of well-known books, that’s all. Ah, right. If you like Asogi-sensei’s works, then the recent hit mystery novels by Fuyajou-sensei are also really good and super recommended!”

“Huh, so there’s another popular mystery series. That’s good to know. By the way, does this library have anything by this Fuyajou-sensei?”

“Ah, I wonder… It’s a really new release, so it might not be in stock yet… I’ll check later!”

“Ah, it’s fine, I can look it up myself. But thanks for trying to help me out.”

“No no, if it’s for someone who loves books as much as I do, of course I’d help! So if you ever need anything, just ask me, okay?”

Sakagami pumped her fist in a little guts pose as she said that. She really was such a kind girl.

“…Oh, wait? But now that I think about it… Kuze-kun, you’re never in the classroom during lunch, right? And the last time we ran into each other, you were also coming from the library during lunch. So that means… Do you come to the library every single day at lunch?”

“Yeah, I do. Well… You know. Everyone thinks I’m some scary delinquent guy, right?”

“Right? And I kinda feel like barging into the classroom during their fun lunch break would ruin the mood. That’s why I always buy an onigiri from the convenience store and finish it in under a minute before coming here to read.”

Like I said, my daily routine had become rushing through an onigiri or sweet bread in one to two minutes, then relaxing in the library. Of course, getting more reading time was nice, but yeah… There were times I wanted to eat lunch slowly. But using crowded places like the classroom or cafeteria felt like I’d just be a nuisance. So I figured slow lunches were something I’d have to give up on.
