I Was Reincarnated as the Heir of a Villainous Family, Who Kept the Fallen Daughter of the Count as a Maid for Satisfying My Sexual Desires, Only to Meet My Demise at the End. If I Treat Her Normally, She Would Come Visit Me Every Night Which is Troublesome… - Chapter 8
Preparations
The middle-aged beggar shakes his head.
“This cloth is hardly something to offer to a noble…”
“Shut up! Just sell it to me already.”
“Eh!? To receive this much…thank you, thank you so much!”
I give the man ten gold coins and put on the ragged cloth.
By my estimation, one gold coin is worth about a hundred thousand yen in the world I came from.
Handing over my day’s allowance and disguised as a beggar, I walk up to the three kidnappers who is trying to put Elise into a carriage.
“Give me something will you?”
“Tch! A brat beggar is bothering us! Get lost!”
The kidnappers shooed me away as if I were a stray dog.
Meanwhile, Kain is watching us from the shadows, biting his fingers in fear.
Damn it! I can’t stand it any longer, I should stop the kidnapping.
Both Kain and the kidnappers piss me off.
Since I’m pissed off, Nord’s tone becomes harsher.
“What? You’re telling me to get lost? You’d better regret your foolishness for defying me.”
[Fool’s Mirror Reflect]
“Aaargh!!!”
Hyaa, that looks painful…
The bearded kidnapper who tried to kick me ended up with his knee joint bending in a direction it shouldn’t normally bend.
“What the hell did you do!?”
The other kidnapper with bald head tries to punch me, but the outcome remains the same.
“My arm… Aaaargh!!!”
His elbow joint bends grotesquely in a direction it definitely shouldn’t, and just catching a glimpse of it is gruesome.
“You all are really idiots. I thought humans are creatures capable of learning, kukuku…”
“Eek!”
The last kidnapper with a bandana-like cloth wrapped around his head trembles as he watches the other two writhing and groaning on the ground.
“If you don’t want to die, let go of her and leave the capital. I’ll be watching you, and I can kill you anytime!”
He nods and quickly let go of Elise.
He then drives off the carriage, leaving his injured companions behind.
“Don’t leave me here…”
“I’m going to be killed…”
To everyone’s surprise, Elise is trying to use [Healing Magic] on the injured kidnappers.
“What are you doing? You should just leave them…”
“No, I can’t just leave them like this…”
Elise is healing the two who had tried to kidnap her, and they are shedding tears of gratitude for her mercy.
Even though she’s young, she is unmistakably Elise. Her silver beautiful hair and her sparkling azure eyes are so captivating that it’s hard to look away.
After Elise finished healing them, she calls out to me as I’m about to leave.
“I don’t know who you are, but thank you for your help. I am Elise, the daughter of Count Magdalia.”
“I know.”
H-Hey, wait a minute!
Nord reacting to Elise’s words and responding on my behalf without permission is really troublesome. Typically, unless their parents are close acquaintances, it’s rare for noble children to know each other.
Gohon, gohon…
I cough, trying to avoid talking to Elise as much as possible.
“Ah! Are you perhaps catching a cold? Let me heal you with my healing magic.”
Ah, Elise is indeed really kind~ However, I mustn’t be swayed!
“I don’t need it.”
“Then, would you like some medicine, a meal, or perhaps some money as thanks?”
“I said I don’t need any of that!”
“That’s strange…even though you’re supposed to be a beggar.”
“A-Anyway, receiving something from a stranger, especially a woman, is embarrassing!”
“That’s odd. You said earlier that you knew me.”
She remembered!
Elise puts her index finger to her lips, tilting her head.
Is it a privilege of the main heroine to be cute even when doing that?
I flip the tattered cloth and turn my back to Elise.
“Anyway, I’m busy.”
“Um, you’re busy, even though you’re a beggar?”
Seriously…I can’t stand sharp-witted kids!
Exasperated, I sigh and start to head home.
However, when I look behind, I notice that Elise is following me.
“Why are you following me?”
“I’m curious about the person who just saved me.”
“I just happened to pass by, I didn’t do anything.”
“Is that so?”
“That’s right. Besides, if you keep wandering around like this, you might get kidnapped again like earlier! Be aware of your unique appearance.”
“To receive praise for my appearance on top of being helped by you, truly you are a good person. I really want to express my gratitude.”
“No need! I was just pissed off seeing those guys’ faces. You following me around is just a nuisance.”
“But in the end, I was saved thanks to you. I have no words to express my gratitude for that.”
“I understand, I understand. Then, be grateful to the Earth Mother Goddess or something. I’m going home.”
“Isn’t a beggar homeless? If you don’t mind, why don’t you visit my mansion…”
Oh, come on! This is what I’m afraid of.
“Even if I’m homeless, there are still places that I prefer. I don’t want someone else to take that place.”
“Then if I go there, I can meet you, right!?”
Damn it…her beautiful azure eyes are sparkling at me and she is giving me a cute smile.
“I’m often not around.”
“Then, at least tell me your name…”
“I’m No—I mean, Kain. I live in Swoop village.”
I almost blurted out ‘Nord’, but I quickly lied to avoid her further questions. It’s a bit of a desperate move, but it seems not to be a bad move since Kain is receiving all of the credit.
“—heh!?”
“Um…did you say something?”
“No, it’s nothing.”
Kain, who is hiding in the shadows, suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
“Huh? Suddenly, there’s thick fog… Ah! Kain-sama? Kain-sama~!”
I use my magic to summon a black mist, preventing Elise to follow me.
Then, I quickly leave the scene.
With this, I’ve set the stage for Kain and Elise to become friends.
I don’t think I will meet Elise anymore.
As long as I don’t enrol to the academy, I’m sure everything will go smoothly!
