Chapter 67: Magic
Swords clashed.
Next, it was magic against magic.
“You’re still as skillful as ever!”
Against my father’s blue flames, I washed them away with water, and exploded them with water to make them disappear.
It wasn’t just water. Sometimes I blocked with a stone wall or used wind that had the oxygen removed to extinguish the flames.
Seeing me kill the momentum of his flames in every possible way, my father spoke words of admiration.
“That’s very kind of you.”
I replied curtly to my father’s words and then launched a counterattack with a barrage of magic.
“Hah! You’re skillful indeed!”
My father skillfully avoided all of them.
But my magic definitely cut into several parts of his body, leaving wounds.
“Reno! Do you have the spirit to push against me?”
Even amidst this, my father unleashed flames again, striking them towards me.
“Hmph.”
In response, I countered by igniting my own blue flames.
“I have no intention of losing in a pure contest of magical power.”
Indeed, I didn’t have an abundance of magical power.
So, I just needed to make it thinner… endlessly thin, increasing its piercing power.
“Shifted, huh?”
My magic pierced through my father’s blue flames, striking right where his heart should be… but I didn’t feel the sensation of killing my enemy.
“Ah, that’s right… isn’t it convenient? The human body, if you shift the heart a little, even if it’s pierced, you won’t die.”
“Lunatic.”
“Even so, this is good. I never thought you’d become this strong. Ah, you’re growing. My child is becoming stronger, imbued with our family’s ways.”
“……”
I glared at my father, who exudes madness; I increased my own pressure to crush him from above.
“Come, let’s fight to the death. Dance with me until the end.”
My father began to move slowly, blood dripping from his chest as he charged at me.
“Ugh…!”
And once again, my father and I collided.
His blue flame-wrapped fist clashed with the barrier I had erected, sending a high-pitched, loud sound reverberating through the world.
“The parents of the Lastella family are meant to be killed by their children.”
The sound drowned out any human voice.

Chapter 68: Conclusion
We both shared the same answer about how this conflict would end.
“Ugh, ah…”
Before the fight began.
As we clashed before taking action, we gradually understood each other’s strength.
I had already surpassed my father’s strength.
“Burn, blue dragon.”
As the battle progressed and I stopped holding back, the difference in our abilities became clear.
“Uooohhhhhh!?”
My father, entangled by the blue flame dragon that swallowed the forest I unleashed, screamed but still managed to subdue the blue dragon with brute force.
“Nature.”
Next, I targeted my father with the forest that the blue dragon had once burned down.
I summoned a tidal wave of the forest from Mother Earth.
“Daaaahhhhhhhhhhh!”
Yet, my father broke through it with brute force again.
He cut through the trees, creating a path, kicked off the tree behind him, and charged toward me.
“Stop!”
But my father’s body, rapidly closing in on me, suddenly slowed down with my magic.
“Gah!?”
I mercilessly struck my father’s body with a kick engulfed in blue flames.
“Hahaha!!!”
Even as he burned and was blown away, my father’s laughter didn’t stop.
“Come on! Fight! The battle isn’t over! As long as there’s life, the fight continues!”
His fighting spirit was unending.
“I know.”
So, my body didn’t stop either.
As my father was kicked away, exposing a desperate gap, I slightly lowered my waist and drew my sword.
With the sword at my waist, I slashed through my father’s body.
“Ah…”
The barrier protecting him had long been destroyed.
My hand, gripping the sword, felt the definite sensation of cutting through my father’s body.
“Good… wonderful, ah… it was truly a fulfilling conflict.”
My father’s body, severed in two, fell to the ground.
“You did well… as expected of my child.”
His expression was one of true satisfaction.
Beside my fallen father, I took a small breath.

Chapter 69: Surrender
Beside my fallen father.
“Enemy commander, slain!”
Taking a small breath, I immediately shouted a victory declaration. Loud enough for both enemies and allies to hear.
“Raise the war cry! This is my victory! Celebrate! This is my victory!”
And then, continuing.
“Uoooooohhhhhh!!!”
In response, many of my allies at the fort raised cheers.
“Long live Lord Reno! Long live! Long live!!!”
“Th-that… lunatic…”
“He lost…”
“Unbelievable…”
While my allies cheered, the enemy soldiers voiced their despair. My father had betrayed his homeland, and even among the enemy soldiers, he was the man who had ultimately sided with them. Most of the enemy soldiers here had no connection to my father. Yet, even among them, my father was undoubtedly their pillar. In a battlefield where madness rules, my father, the lunatic, was their core. It was because of him they believed they could win.
A hero makes those around them believe in victory, and our family had always been capable of that.
“…I thought I was weak against pressure.”
It seems I, too, have been poisoned by the Lastella family. Thinking back, I’ve often been able to sway those around me to my side recently.
“Now then.”
As I thought this, I quietly turned my gaze toward the enemy soldiers.
“Will you surrender? If you do, I won’t treat you harshly. I’m not a lunatic like my father.”
I called for the enemy soldiers to surrender, making my voice resonate with magic.
“……”
“It seems our forces are ready to launch another assault. Or will you resort to guerrilla warfare after losing your supply fort? Do you have any cards left to overturn this without my father?”
I mixed a threat into my words.

Chapter 70: End of the War
The war that began with my father’s betrayal ended with his death.
The enemy nation agreed to return the occupied territories and pay reparations.
Despite causing so much damage, they accepted defeat without gaining anything. Though initially, the enemy nation resisted, their own damages were severe, and they opted for peace to avoid a counter-invasion.
“Ah, it’s over.”
Everything had ended. I received this report from our homeland while inside the fort in the Dragonbone Mountains.
“You must be tired… Are you okay?”
Rino asked me worriedly as I exhaled deeply and leaned back in my chair.
“It’s alright… I’ve already made up my mind to accept everything.”
My father was dead, and I had achieved a victory worthy of the head of the Lastella family. Now, I would become the official head of the family, and my accomplishments in this war would fully absolve the family’s betrayal.
“Hey, Rino.”
I turned my gaze to Rino and spoke.
“Yes?”
“Please continue to support me.”
“Of course, always.”
“Forever.”
“…!? ”
Rino, who was about to nod at my usual words, was taken aback by the continuation.
“Th-that means… with me!?”
“Shh.”
I placed my index finger on Rino’s lips to stop her from saying anything more. Then, I spoke to her slowly.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t say that just yet.”
I wasn’t completely ready to accept her yet.
“But we are engaged. From now on, let’s walk through life together. Will you be my lifelong partner?”
I had resolved to face life with her as my partner. No matter what happened, I would protect Rino.
“…Yes, with pleasure.”
Though I was still hesitant, Rino smiled brightly and nodded in agreement.
