Chapter 13: The Two of Us
“Ah, it’s great that everything was resolved without any problems.”
The day after Rinonara and I were kidnapped, I read the report from our knights and nodded in satisfaction.
It’s a good thing I made sure to bring the people serving the Lastella family in our territory to my side.
Given how my in-game father was in many ways, I thought it was wise to prepare just in case. We were able to round up all the kidnappers with hidden agendas.
“Well, not that I have any use for them.”
If I were the head of the household, it would be different, but I’m just a three-year-old kid. There’s no way I can handle these scheming kidnappers.
A three-year-old can’t extort or negotiate.
“Reno.”
As I read the report, Rinonara, already looking relaxed, popped in to see me.
“Oh, Rino. What’s up?”
I put the report aside and looked at Rino.
“I have a request…”
“Sure, whatever you want, Rino.”
“I want custody of the kidnappers who took us!”
Rino’s request wasn’t something a typical three-year-old would ask for. Even though she seemed her age at times, she was always mature.
I didn’t expect a cute request.
But she’s still adorable.
“Hm? Okay, but why?”
“It’s about my father.”
“Oh, I see.”
I nodded at Rino’s words.
The people behind the kidnappers were from the royal palace, more specifically, the inner palace.
Even if we handed the kidnappers over to the king as requested, they wouldn’t be properly punished. But I don’t have the power to punish them correctly or handle them well.
It’s best to hand them over quietly.
“Alright. Then, let’s ask the king to punish the rascals who kidnapped me. And also to bless our future engagement.”
Even in my position, it’s good to make such a minor request to the king since I was almost killed.
“Leave it to me!”
Rino nodded with a big smile at my words.
I don’t even want to think about the darkness behind her words.
“I’ll head back to the capital for now, but I’ll come back! I’ll come to see you again!”
“I’ll be waiting, Rino.”
I nodded at Rino’s repeated promises to return.
“See you next time.”
“Goodbye.”
After she gave me a bright smile and turned her back to leave the room, I waved and smiled as I saw her off.
“I’ll wait, Reno. I’ll make sure we can be together forever. Hehe.”

Chapter 14: Love
Rinonara
She was always surrounded by enemies, placed in harsh conditions. Because of this, Rinonara had been wounded since childhood, to the point where the world had lost its color for her.
However, there are two things that must not be forgotten when talking about her. First, Rinonara was born with natural genius. Second, her deceased mother was the most beloved beauty of the king.
“A three-year-old with remarkable speech and thinking abilities.”
Rinonara’s room is a sanctuary that no one approaches. It used to be her late mother’s room, the place where the king spent most of his time. No one dares to enter it now, and she has taken it over.
“But, her nature is optimistic and ephemeral. She may look like a genius from the outside, but she’s different from me. Even if she is a prodigy or a genius child now, she has no future.”
Having returned to this room from the Lastella household, Rinonara is surrounded by walls covered in magical photos of Reno. With eyes devoid of highlights, she intensely writes something in her notebook.
She is writing down everything she knows about Reno.
“Raised with love from his parents, he has a strong sense of self-worth and calmness. However, his friendships are shallow, and his relationship with his parents is thin… Does he have memories of a past life? His perspective is broad, his memory is average. Still, his quick thinking and high-level reasoning often leave his emotions behind. He has slight tendencies towards reckless behavior, but he calms down quickly and doesn’t let it lead to fatal mistakes. He has a strong attachment to things and people, and treats them with care. Nevertheless, he has a cold side, and can instantly discard something he deems unnecessary. Though he is sentimental, his actions are not driven by it. His education is advanced, his mathematical abilities are abnormally high, and his knowledge is skewed. Basic thinking processes are neglected. His eyesight and sense of smell are good, but his hearing is slightly impaired. His walking and manners are not refined. His eating habits are ordinary, and he doesn’t seem to care much about etiquette. His sense of money is normal, hesitating over expensive items. Yet, once he decides to spend, he can use a large amount of money all at once. In a good way, he is not very aristocratic and his values are similar to commoners.”
Rinonara never forgets what she sees. She reviews the image of Reno in her mind, gathering all the information she has on him.
“Reno, Reno, Reno.”
She compiles what she has seen and felt about Reno, absorbing the information into herself. From there, she thinks about what her ideal self would be for him.
“…Ah.”
Rinonara’s hand, which had been moving continuously, suddenly stops.
“I see… I don’t need to pretend.”
The Reno she has built up inside her, the temporary image of him, accepts her with a smile no matter what she is like, as long as she doesn’t commit any crimes.
“Hehe… Reno is Reno.”
Because he is a reincarnator, Reno is always different. He first brought light and shock to Rinonara. Then, with his mature mentality, he gave her a paternal love she had never known. Even now, he continues to have a strong impact on her from afar.
The depth of the wounds from Rinonara’s childhood has now turned into a deep, twisted love for Reno. The vessel of her unfulfilled childlike love has been, for better or worse, slightly filled by Reno in a distorted way.
“Ahhh… Reno.”
Looking at a photo of Reno sleeping, stuck in front of her, Rinonara blushes and licks her lips.
The young monster had already awakened.
