Chapter 39: Defeating My Sister with My New Move [Heal Sword]
Just like Father said, it wasn’t just my physical abilities—my swordsmanship had improved by leaps and bounds too.
Fighting life-or-death battles against enemies like Gawain and General Baldo had sharpened my skills in a short time.
I could finally reach the level of Alfin’s swordsmanship—something I never could before.
“Just as I expected… no, you’ve surpassed even that, Zenon.”
First Imperial Princess Leticia stared at me, licking her lips.
“Good… I want you even more now. Ahh, I can’t wait to get my hands on your body and tinker with it however I like!”
“Princess Leticia…!”
Valeria glared sharply at her.
“Zenon is my husband. If you try to harm him, I won’t hold back.”
“Hm? So you’re the rumored [Necromancer]? Well, it’s rare, sure—but I’ve already got enough of those. And a frail body like yours wouldn’t survive my modifications anyway.”
Leticia shrugged, clearly uninterested.
Magic-type skill users weren’t that rare in the Empire, so thankfully, she didn’t seem interested in Valeria.
For a second there, I thought her twisted obsession might turn toward Valeria too—that would’ve been bad.
In the original game, Leticia kidnapped, imprisoned, and modified any skill users she took a liking to.
Now then…
“…When we get back, you better keep your promise to train me, big sis Alfin.”
I took a deep breath and focused my mind.
To land magic precisely on someone as skilled as Alfin, I’d have to take a gamble.
“Valeria—let’s do that thing from the [Soul Eater] fight!”
“Got it!”
Valeria’s eyes widened, then she glanced at the Demi Liches under her command.
She understood my plan instantly.
My right leg, now healed and enhanced, had more power than before the fight even started.
If I stack buff magic on top of that—like Gawain did when we fought the Soul Eater—I should be able to move faster than Alfin expects.
Looking around, the Schwarz Ritter seemed to have the upper hand.
The Demi Liches were busy casting attack spells against the powerful chimera soldiers, but they should have enough leeway to throw some buffs my way.
And then—
“[Heal Sword]!”
I enchanted my blade with Heal.
Heal only works through direct contact.
And there’s no way I could just touch Alfin’s head with my hand—not even with lightning or partial damage to slow her down.
So instead, I put Heal into my sword.
With this [Heal Sword], if I strike the horn on her forehead and channel [Miracle of Healing] into her head, I should be able to save her without killing her.
“Heal! Heal! Heal!”
With Valeria supplying mana, I stacked multiple Heal enchantments onto my blade instead of just one.
This should give me enough healing power to break her brainwashing for sure.
“W-wait… stacking enchantments!?”
Leticia’s eyes widened.
Stacking enchantments is an advanced technique—normally way beyond a beginner like me.
Honestly, I failed a few times.
But after repeated attempts, I managed to stack three Heal enchantments successfully.
“No way… that sword—it’s Lucian’s…!?”
The reason I pulled it off… was the sword I took from Prince Lucian.
I realized it later, but it was made of mithril—a rare metal that makes enchantments much easier.
“Haha! Even so, that’s incredible magical talent! Ahh, Zenon, you really are perfect!”
Leticia sighed dreamily—and then released a flash of light from both hands.
“Ugh!?”
It wasn’t an attack spell—just a blinding light.
But it worked perfectly.
My eyes, adjusted to the darkness, were completely overwhelmed.
Of course, Alfin wouldn’t miss that opening.
I sensed it—the sharp thrust wasn’t aimed at me, but at Valeria’s heart.
That was the Greivan-style heart-piercing thrust Alfin specialized in.
A guaranteed killing blow.
Leticia must’ve realized that without Valeria, I couldn’t use magic properly.
And if Valeria goes down, the Schwarz Ritter disappears too.
But… I saw it coming.
If she didn’t need Valeria, then of course she’d go straight for her without hesitation.
“[Excessive Recovery]!!”
I thrust my glowing left hand in front of Valeria’s chest.
I swore I’d protect her.
No matter who it is—I won’t let them lay a finger on her.
“Enchant—[Flame Emperor].”
Alfin’s blade burst into flames.
“Zenon!?”
Valeria cried out softly.
Her thrust pierced straight through my palm.
At that instant, the energy of [Excessive Recovery] disrupted the molecular structure of her sword—
breaking it apart.
The blade burned through my left hand, but it never reached Valeria.
It crumbled into grains, scattering into nothing.
Having lost her weapon, Alfin froze for just a moment.
That was a fatal opening.
“[Strength Boost], [Speed Enhancement]!”
Buff magic from the Demi Liches hit me at the perfect timing.
As Alfin tried to retreat with a backstep, I chased her down with blinding speed.
I’m not letting you get away.
I’m bringing you back—no matter what.
“Snap out of it, big sis Alfin!!”
I brought down the flat of my blade—not the edge—onto the horn on her forehead.
The triple-layered [Miracle of Healing] within my [Heal Sword] exploded into her head.
“No way… my Alfin…!?”
I heard Leticia’s shocked voice.
“She’s not yours… she’s mine—she’s OUR Alfin!!”

Chapter 40: Beating Princess Leticia’s Alchemy with [Super Recovery]
“U-uaaahhhhhhh!?”
Alfin’s knees suddenly buckled and slammed into the ground. She clutched her head and screamed.
Just now, I almost blurted out “my Alfin,” but caught myself and hurriedly corrected it to “our Alfin.”
If people figured out how much I loved dragon girls… especially if Alfin found out and thought I was some kind of dragon girl maniac, that’d be really bad.
Worst case, she might even stop talking to me.
“Zenon, you did it!”
“Yeah…!”
Valeria rushed over to my side.
For now, it seemed like she hadn’t noticed my slip-up, and I let out a quiet breath of relief.
“…My heavily layered magic protection is being broken through!?”
Princess Leticia stared in shock.
The light of healing and the darkness pouring out from Alfin’s head clashed violently, making the air tremble.
My Heal and Leticia’s alchemy—two completely opposing forces—were colliding head-on.
In the middle of it all, Alfin groaned, like she was fighting to take back control of herself.
“Ahh, wonderful! So this is your [Miracle of Healing]. What overwhelming power!”
Princess Leticia looked at me with a melting, almost entranced expression.
A chill ran down the back of my neck, like cold fingers brushing over it.
At the same time, something felt off.
Why did she look so calm in a situation like this?
If Alfin’s brainwashing broke, that should be a serious problem for her…
“Zenon, did you do it!? Hmph!”
A sharp metallic clang cut off my thoughts.
When I looked, Father had just split a chimera soldier’s—Fritz’s—sword clean in half.
It was a weapon-breaking technique that made use of the [Sword Saint] skill to amplify the power of his strike.
Fritz hurriedly jumped back, trying to create distance.
Father calmly stepped in and knocked him out with a precise chop to the neck.
The impact knocked off Fritz’s mask, revealing a face covered in coarse fur. Fangs protruded from his mouth.
It looked like Fritz had been fused with a wolf-type magical beast.
“…Sleep for a while, Fritz. Zenon will bring you back to your senses too.”
Father looked down at his disciple with a gentle expression.
I’d never seen such a soft look on his face before.
“We’ve wrapped things up over here too! And of course, we didn’t kill them!”
Valeria pointed to the other side.
The other chimera soldier was already down.
The Schwarz Ritter were individually weaker than the chimera soldiers, but their coordinated teamwork had secured them the win.
The obstacles were gone. Now was the time.
“Alfin, can you hear me!? Come back!”
I sheathed my sword.
I figured if I showed I had no hostility, it might weaken hers too.
“You promised you’d train me when we got home, remember!?”
I called out desperately, betting it might help bring her back.
“That’s right, Alfin! Let’s live together again as a family!”
Father stepped up beside me and called out too.
“No matter how much you’ve changed, Zenon and I will always love you the same!”
Well… in my case, it wasn’t even “the same.” I liked Alfin way, way more now than before.
“Yeah, Alfin! I wanna stay with you—always!”
That was a cry straight from my soul.
Eating together, training with swords, going shopping with Alfin—now that she’d become my ideal dragon girl… every moment was nothing but joy and excitement.
“Zenon…! You…”
Valeria’s eyes shimmered with emotion.
“…Zenon?”
The empty look on Alfin’s face flickered, and confusion crept in.
“Yeah, it’s me! You recognize me!?”
“S-sis’s brainwashing is breaking!? Zenon’s love… his sincere feelings are overcoming Princess Leticia’s alchemy!?”
Valeria was overwhelmed too.
“Pfft, love? You think something so vague and fake could break my alchemy?”
Princess Leticia shrugged and sneered.
“Alfin, playtime’s over. ‘Remove all limiters.’ ‘Maximum mana output.’ We can fix you afterward, no problem. Now—kill Zenon. Prove that my alchemy is supreme, that it surpasses even the [Miracle of Healing]!”
“…Yes, Master.”
An explosive surge of magic erupted from Alfin’s body. The sheer force prickled against my skin.
“Thought you’d won? Heh… too bad.”
So she’d been holding back a trump card.
“If I do this, Alfin will break in a few minutes. But if I get your body, I don’t mind at all. I’ll take you back to my workshop and love you all night—no, for the rest of your life.”
Princess Leticia looked at me with pure delight.
So she didn’t care if Alfin broke, as long as she got me? Just like in the game—she really was the worst kind of witch.
“Damn it! Get back, Valeria!”
“Zenon!?”
I shoved Valeria behind me so she wouldn’t get caught in it.
If you take down the caster, the magic disappears.
Aiming for that, Alfin raised her hand to strike me with attack magic.
“GRAAAAH!”
The buff magic from the Demi Lich was still active.
Because of that, I could move just a bit faster than Alfin.
With a roar, I charged straight at her and pulled her into a tight embrace.
“[Lightning Emperor].”
“Heal!”
At the same time—
A massive electric shock tore through my body, so strong it nearly knocked me unconscious.
Alfin had wrapped her arms around me and blasted lightning magic directly into my back.
And it was even stronger than before.
But I didn’t let go.
Through the searing pain, I grabbed the back of her head with my right hand and kept casting Heal over and over.
It felt like Princess Leticia’s alchemy was pushing back harder, tightening its grip on Alfin…
But so what? I’d just force my way through.
“No way…! You’re ignoring your own safety just to keep casting [Miracle of Healing] on Alfin!?”
I could hear Leticia’s shocked voice in the distance.
It hurt.
It hurt like hell—but holding Alfin like this, as a dragon girl… I felt happy.
If it meant I could bring her back, I’d endure any pain.
“You’re not just talking—you really love her…!? You’re saying your sister matters more than your own life!?”
Leticia sounded shaken by my resolve.
“Z-Zenon… what kind of man are you!?”
“Zenon, win! Don’t lose to her alchemy!”
“That’s right, Zenon! You can bring Alfin back! You’re my proud son!”
Father and Valeria shouted themselves hoarse, cheering me on.
“Heal!”
My vision blurred, but I held on, fueled by the joy of holding Alfin, and kept casting Heal.
There was no way I’d let her be destroyed.
I’d heal her. Save her. Protect her.
I had [Super Recovery], a skill that granted automatic regeneration.
That’s why I could endure any magical attack.
In a battle of endurance, I wouldn’t lose.
But my MP was almost gone.
My low MP… that was my fatal weakness.
“This is my last Heal…!”
I poured everything into this one cast.
With everything I had left, I unleashed Heal—
Wishing, with all my heart, to save Alfin.
A light far stronger than before enveloped her.
And in that moment—
The lightning burning my body stopped.
“…Ah… huh… Z-Zenon?”
Alfin murmured, like she was half-asleep.
Light had returned to her eyes.
“I—we did it!”
Valeria’s voice rang out.
The alchemical magic surrounding Alfin’s head shattered completely.
“Impossible…! I order you! Alfin, kill them all!”
Princess Leticia screamed, but Alfin didn’t move.
Her will to fight was completely gone.
Leticia had said Alfin would break within minutes at full power…
But thanks to all the Heal I kept casting, there wasn’t even a sign of that.
“…Welcome back, Alfin.”
Relief washed over me, and dizziness hit as I dropped to one knee.
[Super Recovery] kept me alive, but my whole body was wrecked.
Still—
This time, I’d truly brought Alfin back.
I quietly savored that joy.
