I Was Oblivious to the Subtle ‘Yandere’ Side of My Nonchalant Sex Friend Gyaru - Chapter 34-35
Chapter 34:
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Is this… The place?”
Right after school ended, I dashed out of the classroom. I stopped by a convenience store to buy a drink and then started wandering around near Yumekawa’s house. All I knew was that it was “nearby,” and of course I couldn’t exactly ask Yumekawa for more details, so I was basically guessing.
She could’ve been living in an apartment, or there might not even be a nameplate on the door. I told myself if I couldn’t find it, then so be it—but surprisingly, what I was looking for appeared almost immediately.
I found a nameplate with “Kurenai” written on it. It was an ordinary single-family house.
Why am I so nervous?
I tried to press the doorbell, but my finger was trembling. I was thinking irresponsibly, like how I kind of hoped no one would answer even though I’d come here uninvited after tracking down her house. Then—
“Yes?”
I heard a familiar voice from the intercom. A fresh wave of nerves hit me.
“Uh, it’s Aoyama…”
“Aoyama…Huh? Wait, why?”
I heard her surprised voice, followed by hurried footsteps on the other side of the door. The front door flew open with a bang.
“Hah… Hah… Why the heck do you know where I live?”
“Ah, well, I heard from Yumekawa that you lived nearby…”
“…So? What do you want?”
Kurenai, wearing casual clothes, looked annoyed as she asked.
“Uh, I… I thought if you weren’t feeling well, maybe I could bring you something.”
“…I see. Thanks. But it’s really nothing serious. I just felt a bit off.”
Looking uninterested, she took the bag I held out. Then—
“…Wanna come in?”
“Eh? No, that’s—”
“You let me into your place all the time, so it’s only fair, right? Besides, I’d hate it if someone saw us standing out here talking. There’s no one else home right now anyway.”
“…Okay, I’ll come in.”
And just like that, I ended up going inside Kurenai’s house.
◇◇◇
“Sit there.”
She led me into the parlor just past the entryway, and I sat down on the sofa in the middle of the room. It was surprisingly spacious—and clean. All over the place were awards and framed photos. They were all Kurenai’s. Some were certificates for winning competitions.
And the photos were… Huh?
“Hey, don’t look at those without permission.”
Just as I stood up to peer more closely at the photos, Kurenai returned, balancing two glasses on a tray.
“Ah, sorry. I mean—are you really feeling okay?”
“I’m fine. It’s just… One of those days.”
“One of those days… Oh, uh, right.”
“I’m irregular, you know. And don’t go snooping through old photos.”
She set the tray on the table a little forcefully and sat down across from me, giving me a slight glare.
“I mean, I just thought—so you really did play softball. And you were pretty amazing.”
“Not really. I was just decent at the prefectural level.”
“Hey, did you quit because of an injury or something?”
“Does it matter? What about you?”
“I…”
My words caught in my throat. It was an injury, sure—but it hadn’t happened during practice or in an accident. I didn’t know how to explain, and as I hesitated, she said.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Then what? You’re a guy—say it straight.”
“…It was an injury. But I didn’t mess up my elbow because of baseball.”
“Was it an accident?”
“No. I messed it up when I punched someone.”
“What?”
Maybe it was because I felt guilty for snooping into her past. I found myself confessing the part of my past I’d kept hidden.
“This is just an excuse, but… There was a teammate who was being bullied. I wasn’t even close with him, but I punched the guys who were picking on him.”
“And that’s how you hurt your elbow?”
“…Yeah. And because of the injury and the fight, I lost my recommendation. That’s how I ended up transferring here.”
Before, just remembering this used to make me feel sick. But today, for some reason, I felt calm.
“I see. Well… You do seem like you’d be quick to pick a fight.”
“How?!”
“Really, it’s just so like you.”
“Like me?”
“I’ll go get some snacks. Drink your tea.”
She stood up and pointed.
“Don’t go looking at my photos.”
She said before leaving the room.

Chapter 35:

♡♡♡
“Idiot.”
While rummaging for snacks in the kitchen,I muttered to herself. There was no need for him to go out of his way to come here.
Besides, because it was my time of the month I figured there wasn’t really a reason to go to his place since we wouldn’t be able to do anything anyway. Not to mention, I had been feeling under the weather too. So I thought it’d be fine to just take the week off.
But despite there was no need for him to come over, he still came to see me. Was it because he was worried? Or was it because we couldn’t have sex if I wasn’t feeling well? I wonder which was the reason?
Well, even if I asked him, he probably wouldn’t give me a clear answer.
“…Idiot.”

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
After a little while, Kurenai came back. Since she’d told me not to look at the photos, I’d made sure to stay put on the sofa the whole time. But even from where I sat, I couldn’t help but be curious about the photo displayed in front of the TV.
“Hey, about that photo…”
“You looked at it?”
“No, I can see it from here, okay?”
“Really? You’ve got good eyes.”
“I guess. But… Why do you look so down in that photo? You’re holding a trophy, yet you look so gloomy.”
That single photo looked different from any of the others I could see. Of course, it was from a distance, so maybe I was imagining it.
“You sure can pick up on that kind of thing, huh.”
“So something happened, then?”
“That photo… It was probably the day of my last softball game. I’d already decided to quit, and a lot of stuff happened.”
“…Is it okay if I ask about that stuff?”
I asked carefully, and Kurenai let out an exasperated sigh.
“Hah. It’s stupid stuff. Like, I turned down one of the popular boys in class, and then the girls started bullying me over it, and around the same time, my parents got divorced… That kind of thing.”
“…So does that mean Yumekawa—”
“No, Arisu wasn’t involved. Our softball club was just… Kind of nasty.”
She sighed again, deeper this time than before.
“I see. Sorry for prying.”
“We’re even, aren’t we? Anyway, like I said before, I won’t be able to come over to your place this week.”
“So… Is it always tough for everyone during this time of the month?”
“It’s usually not this bad for me. But you know, until it’s over, we can’t do anything.”
She spoke casually, taking a sip of her drink, but then let out another quiet sigh, sounding a bit bored. Kurenai wouldn’t be coming over this week. Just imagining that empty time felt terribly lonely. It wasn’t about sexual frustration. It was an emotional thing.
“Hey… If you’re not feeling bad, you could still come over, you know.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? You want me to come over just to get you off?”
“N-no! I mean… How should I put it… Not coming just because we can’t do it feels kind of wrong.”
“Didn’t we already agree that’s what being sex friends is about?”
“It depends on the people. Just because we’re sex friends doesn’t mean we’re forbidden from chatting.”
“Well, that’s true. So… Would you be lonely if I didn’t come?”
“That’s…”
Of course not, I wanted to say—like I always did. But when I looked straight into Kurenai’s eyes, my feelings changed.
“Yeah… I’d be lonely.”
“My, aren’t you being honest.”
“What, do you not like it?”
“Not really. But… If I’m feeling okay, I’ll come over.”
“Yeah. But I’ve got plans tomorrow, so I might be late.”
“With Asou-senpai again? Or Arisu?”
“It’s not like that with either of them… It’s Yumekawa. She asked me to go eat with her.”
“Hmph. Then I’ll come by around when your shift ends.”
After saying that, Kurenai took a big gulp of her tea.
“Don’t push yourself, okay?”
“You don’t need to tell me. And… Are you really feeling better now?”
“Yeah, I’m completely fine. Thanks for taking care of me.”
“…Same here.”
“Huh?”
“N-nothing. Come on, you should get going before it gets too late. I’ll come by again tomorrow.”
Kurenai clattered the dishes as she cleaned up. Then, just like that, she left the room.
