Chapter 01: The Losing Jail Guard Remembers
One day, something happened.
A young human woman wearing armor was thrown into the dungeon where I worked as a jail guard in the Demon Lord’s castle.
It seemed she was a knight who had bravely stormed the castle alone and lost.
She was an incredibly beautiful woman with golden hair like the moon and sky-blue eyes. However, her gaze was full of hostility, sharp and defiant.
“Ugh, just kill me! I’d rather die than let you monsters disgrace me!”
“Hey-hey, don’t say such cold things. I’m gonna treat you real nice.”
My senior guard grinned wickedly while trying to tear off her clothes.
I immediately understood what he planned to do next.
But no one was there to stop him.
In fact, it was just me and my senior guard here; no other guards were around.
The demon race lives by a strict survival-of-the-fittest rule.
If you defeat an enemy, you’re supposed to kill them, not capture and abuse them.
That’s why jail guards like us are usually called things like “useless freeloaders” or “cowards who ran from the front lines.”
Honestly, my senior and I both became jail guards because we were too scared to fight on the front lines.
I can’t deny it, and it doesn’t bother me much.
But why was this knight captured alive this time?
That was because the second-generation Demon Lord, who had defeated her, was an extreme sadist.
The Demon Lord had a twisted hobby of tormenting those who defied her. She ordered us jail guards to torture this woman in every way possible.
My senior took advantage of that order and planned to assault the human woman instead.
Typical orc behavior.
They’re known as walking bundles of lust among the demon race, and he’s proving that right now.
“Guhehe, you’ve got a nice body.”
“No matter what you do to my body, I will never bow to the Demon Lord’s army!”
“Ohh, I love a feisty woman.”
“Ugh, forgive me, Father!”
The knight’s armor was ripped off, revealing her large breasts.
Whoa, those are huge!
Something about this scene felt strangely familiar to me. Then suddenly, it clicked.
“Ahhhh!!!!”
“Whoa!? What the heck, Lugus? Why are you yelling all of a sudden?”
I remembered. Everything came rushing back.
Calm down. Let’s get things straight. First, my name and my job.
My name is Lugus.
I’m a jail guard working in the dungeon beneath the Demon Lord’s castle, and I’m a minor villain in a certain game.
That game is called Prison Heroine.
Sometimes shortened to PriHiro, it’s an adult game where captured heroines suffer all sorts of humiliating situations.
The story is pretty straightforward.
Players collect beautiful female characters through gacha mechanics, train them, and send them to fight the Demon Lord.
If the player wins, the cute demon lord gets humiliated, leading to a “happy ending.” But if the player loses, the heroines end up getting humiliated instead.
Basically, no matter what happens, a cute girl suffers. Clearly, the game’s creators had interesting tastes.
The real problem is that after a certain amount of time, the heroines escape the dungeon and challenge the Demon Lord again.
During that escape, a mandatory battle with the jail guards happens. In other words, the heroines have to fight me and my senior guard.
This battle is designed so the heroines always win.
We’re destined to be killed. That’s our role as villainous jail guards.
This is bad. Extremely bad.
Right now, it’s just the scene before the heroine suffers, but if things go according to the game’s story, we’re going to get killed.
Even though she lost, she’s still a knight brave enough to take on the Demon Lord by herself.
No matter how hard he or I tries to get stronger, there’s no way we can beat her. We became jail guards because we were too scared to fight in the first place.
In that case—!!
“Hey, Senior.”
“What is it, Lugus? Don’t worry, I’ll let you have a turn later. Let me go first.”
“No, not that. I mean… don’t you think we should stop? I feel bad for her.”
Plus, you know, I really don’t want to die.
My senior stared at me, looking completely dumbfounded.
“Huh… what are you talking about? This is an order from the Demon Lord! If we disobey—”
“Well, yeah, the order is to make her suffer. But assaulting her is going too far.”
“Don’t mess with me!! I became a jail guard as an Orc for exactly this kind of situation!!”
Wait, seriously? That’s why he became a jail guard?
I thought he took this job because, like me, he was too scared to fight on the front lines.
But things are getting out of hand.
Even if I treat the heroine kindly, it won’t matter if my senior still decides to hurt her. She’ll just see both of us as enemies who abused her.
Stopping this right now is the only way.
“Well, guess I have no choice. I didn’t want to do this, but…”
“Huh? What did you say, you little punk!? You wanna fight me?! A low-ranking demon like you against a mid-ranking demon like me!?”
Of course, I’m not actually going to fight him.
I’m a low-ranking demon, the bottom of the demon hierarchy. There’s no way I could win against my senior, an orc who’s a mid-ranking demon.
So instead, while he’s readying his fists, I calmly pull out a piece of paper from my pocket and hand it to him.
“Huh? What’s this?”
“It’s a voucher for a private session with Queen Quina, the succubus commander of the Demon Lord’s army.”
“—!? Is this the legendary ‘All-You-Can-Do-With-Quina’ ticket that’s fully booked for the next hundred years!?”
“Yep. I won it in a raffle six months ago. And today’s the day it’s valid.”
“!?”
I waved the ticket in front of him, and my senior’s eyes went wide with shock.
“So, what’s it gonna be, Senior? A once-in-a-lifetime chance with Lady Quina, for free. All you have to do is decide now.”
“Y-You’re giving it to me!?”
“Yeah. As long as you promise not to hurt this girl, or any girl, this ticket is yours.”
“O-Okay!! I swear! I’ll never hurt a girl again! I’ll even sign a contract spell if you want!!”
And with that, the deal was done.
My senior left work immediately, his excitement… well, very obvious.
The knight who was left behind glared at me with suspicion.
“…What are you playing at?”
“Don’t look at me like that. I just saved you.”
I knew this girl.
She was from Prison Heroine’s tutorial stage, where she was supposed to suffer terribly.
Her name was Katiana.
She was one of the starter characters you got without using the gacha, but she also had popular swimsuit and Santa outfit versions.
I kind of liked her, too.
Now, that same popular heroine stood there, her armor ripped off and her chest exposed.
Without a word, I handed her a blanket.
“Here, just put this on for now.”
“?”
“Well, you know… your outfit is, uh, a bit…”
“Uh, d-don’t look!!”
At first, Katiana tilted her head in confusion.
Then she realized how she was dressed and turned red all the way to her ears.
She quickly grabbed the blanket from me.
“I’m Lugus. As you can see, I’m a jail guard in the Demon Lord’s dungeon.”
“…Katiana. Don’t expect me to thank you.”
She glared at me again, but her eyes weren’t as sharp as before.
Alright, I think her opinion of me improved a little.
If I keep treating the heroines kindly, maybe they won’t kill me when they escape.
I decided to keep up this approach and do my best.
