After sending Shizu-san ahead, I met up with Hina and Kogarasu-san at the corner just before the restaurant. Fujioka and Marukawa hadn’t arrived yet.

Kogarasu-san had bought a wooden-handled deck brush as instructed.

“Hey, Hiyori, is it okay to swing this deck brush around?

“It might be better to remove the head. It looks more balanced without it, and it could cause injury if it hits someone in the wrong spot,” she replied after giving it a few swings.

I took the brush from her, pulled out the head, and turned it into a plain wooden stick.

I handed it back to Kogarasu-san, who tested its balance with a few more swings before suddenly spinning it rapidly with her hand. She then performed a dazzling dance-like movement reminiscent of Chinese martial arts, showcasing her skill with the staff.

Hina and I couldn’t help but applaud. After bowing to us, Kogarasu-san said, “Since I’ve never used a staff before, this is probably the limit of what I can do by imitation.” Her words left us dumbfounded.

She truly is a genius when it comes to swordsmanship and physical techniques.

With our strongest ally now ready, we headed for the entrance of the restaurant.

We opened the sliding door to the side and announced our presence with a “Excuse me.” We took off our shoes and stepped inside.

A staff member approached us, and I explained, “We are with Saionji Shizu-san. We brought something she forgot.” 

“Please wait for a bit.” As she said that, four black-suited guards then came to us, all of whom were women, perhaps due to the reversed chastity setting of this world.

They asked us what we were doing here, and I repeated my previous answer. As they tried to block our path, Kogarasu-san stepped forward and said, “Leave this to me. Kyosuke and Himekawa, go ahead.”

She took a fighting stance with her staff, facing off against the guards, who also drew their batons and other weapons. Taking advantage of a gap created by Kogarasu-san’s swift movement, Hina and I rushed into the hallway beyond.
