[Phone Ringing]
“Damn it, at a time like this…” I reached for my phone, but a soft hand caught mine, guiding it towards a warm, soft body.
“Heyyy… we’re not done yet. You have to finish properly… okay ? ♡”
The woman beneath me, cheeks flushed with a seductive smile, was my colleague and subordinate, Saki Yamaoka. Right now, she was guiding my hand to her ample chest, encouraging me to continue.
“Ahhn… come on, Taichi-kun, faster~” “Hah, hah, Saki… Saki…”
Ignoring the constant ringing of my phone, I indulged in Saki’s young, tempting body.
After going for two rounds without stopping, I finally decided to answer my wife’s call.
“What the hell are you doing!? How long do you plan to keep me waiting!? What on earth are you up to!?”
I sighed at the familiar sound of my wife’s hysterical shouting. Smirking, I winked at Saki, pointing to my phone, signaling her to go take a shower first.
Saki giggled mischievously before kneeling in front of me and taking me into her mouth. “H-Hey…”
Meanwhile, my wife’s loud voice echoed through the room, even though I hadn’t put her on speakerphone. Saki could clearly hear her ranting as she continued her mischievous teasing.
“You! How could you raise your son like this!? He just cut ties with the family on his own, blamed everything on Kotone, and left us like we were beneath him! I never thought he could be such a selfish brat!”
My wife was ranting about Kenichi on the other end of the line, calling him a brat, but I was too focused on the sensations below my waist to care. I tried to keep Saki from moving by holding her head in place with my free hand, but she easily pushed it away, leaving me completely vulnerable.
“And now, because of this, the neighbors are going to start talking. I’m so embarrassed I won’t even be able to show my face outside! You need to talk to your son and straighten this out. After all, he’s your responsibility, not mine!”
“I-I got it. I’ll… I’ll t-t-talk to Kenichi…”
Saki’s movements intensified, making it harder for me to concentrate. My legs started to shake as I struggled to hold on, while she gave me a mischievous look and continued without mercy.
“I’ll… uh… I’ll call him… and talk… l-later… I-I’ll… call you… back,” I stammered, fumbling to press the red end-call button just as I reached my limit in Saki’s mouth.
The sound of the shower echoed in the background. After our fun, Saki seemed satisfied and went to wash up.
While she was in the shower, I tried calling Kenichi, but there was no answer. “Tch, might as well take a shower myself,” I thought, untying my robe as I headed towards the bathroom. Just as I was about to join her, my phone buzzed with an incoming call.
It was from my son. I quickly tied my robe again and sat down at the vanity, picking up the call.
“Kenichi, it’s been a while. I suppose asking if you’ve been doing well would be strange…”
I said, idly playing with one of Saki’s perfume bottles.
“What do you want? There’s nothing I need to say to you,” came the response, in a tone colder than I had ever heard from him.
“I get that you’re upset, but isn’t cutting ties with your family and leaving the house a bit too selfish?”
“Selfish? Me? How?”
“If you were struggling, why didn’t you talk to me or your stepmother? We could have—”
“Oh, come on! Look, both you and the so-called ‘stepmother’ probably had some idea about what was going on with your ‘perfect’ daughter. If you really didn’t notice, then you’re just clueless, uncaring parents.”
His words were like knives, and I found myself at a loss for how to respond, especially after imagining the hysterical face of my wife earlier.
“Tch! But still, why didn’t you tell me?”
“Did you ever bother to ask about how things were at home? Did you check in on any of us? At least, you never asked me anything. If you’re away from home for days on end, wouldn’t you normally care a little about what’s going on with your family?”
He was always a sharp kid, but lately, he’d been quiet. Now, he had me cornered.
“T-That’s because… I trusted you all…”
“Trust, ahaha?”
“Y-yeah, I trusted my family—”
“What about that 27-year-old woman, three years into her job at XXX Corporation’s Ibaraki Branch? Originally from Tochigi, she graduated from a local private university and joined the branch, where she worked in general affairs before being assigned to sales this year… under your supervision. You two got involved during a business trip to a manufacturer in Aomori, and since then, you’ve practically been living at her apartment every day.”
“W-What!? You—!” I panicked and glanced toward the shower room. [Shhhhh] The sound of the water and Saki’s occasional humming were the only things I could hear.
“Oh, I haven’t told my former stepmother yet. But if you keep interfering in my life… well, you understand, don’t you?”
I leaned forward, turning my back to the shower room, trying to shield the conversation with my hand.
“You! You’re threatening your own father?!”
“Pfft! Ahahaha! What are you talking about? You’re acting all high and mighty while ignoring your own actions? That’s hilarious!”
Being exposed by my own son about my affair, I felt my dignity and pride as a parent vanish. If the company finds out, if the family finds out… My head was spinning.
“Y-You’re no longer my son! We’re done! Go wherever you want! I’m disowning you right now!”
I shouted impulsively, trying to regain some control.
“Oh, perfect! That’s exactly what I was hoping for! By the way, I’m still a minor, so I’ve already sent the documents for an adoption with Aunt Junka. It includes the transfer of legal custody to her. Just fill out the necessary details and return it in the prepaid envelope within a week.”
Hearing how organized he was made cold sweat drip down my back.
“You ungrateful brat! From now on, I won’t give you a single cent for your living expenses or tuition!”
Clinging to the power of money, I tried once more to assert my authority over him.
“What… hahaha, ahahahaha.” But instead of taking me seriously, my son started laughing uncontrollably.
“W-What’s so funny!? You’re mocking your own father without even thinking about your future—”
“Kenichi Fudo… ever heard of that name?”
“F-Fudo…? That’s your late mother’s maiden name… but what does that have to do with anything?”
I was caught off guard by him suddenly mentioning my late wife’s family name.
“Sigh… You’re really clueless, aren’t you? How are you even holding down a supervisor position? Oh wait, maybe that’s why you haven’t been promoted any further.”
He struck at exactly the thing that bothered me most, and my blood boiled with anger.
“You! How dare you speak to your father like that!?”
“Why don’t you try Googling it? Type in Kenichi Fudo and see for yourself.”
While keeping the call on hold, I quickly typed Kenichi Fudo into a search engine. The top result that appeared was a famous, best-selling novelist who had become extremely popular in the last year or so.
Even I recognized the name since Saki, my colleague, had mentioned several times that many of this author’s works had been turned into movies and TV dramas.
“Tch… I looked it up, but all that comes up is that recently famous novelist… What are you trying to say?”
“Hah. That famous novelist? That’s me. Haha.”
Huh? For a moment, I couldn’t comprehend what my son was saying…
“W-What!? You’re telling me that you’re the novelist, Kenichi Fudo!?”
That’s impossible… Just because his late mother’s maiden name was Fudo and his name is Kenichi, he thinks he can fool me with such a ridiculous story…
“Well, you don’t have to believe me, but do you know where Aunt Junka—Mom’s sister—works?”
It’s true that we hadn’t spoken since my late wife’s funeral when we had a big argument, but if I remember correctly…
“I-I think… at a major publishing company…!? W-Wait, so… it’s true!?”
“Yeah, when I reached out to her, I told her I’d be writing three books a year. The company was so eager, they gave me a penthouse in a tower in central Tokyo. So, no need to worry about my living expenses or tuition. I’ve earned more in two years than you could in four lifetimes.”
I was shocked and filled with jealousy, realizing that my own son had already achieved great success in the world.
“You… you’ve really turned rotten to the core!”
“Hey, don’t underestimate me. This call is being recorded, and I can leak your affair videos and evidence to your family or your company anytime. Once the paperwork is finalized, we’ll be complete strangers. So, don’t push your luck with me, got it?”
I desperately tried to find a way to repair our relationship, hoping for a way out, but his cold and ruthless words crushed that hope.
“…Fine… I’ll do what you say… just…”
“You should’ve just listened from the start. Oh, by the way, I sent the documents to the new one-room apartment you’re trying to rent for your little affair. Ahaha.”
I frantically scanned the room, wondering just how much he knew. My hand, trembling, dropped the phone, and the impact ended the call.
As Saki came out of the shower, she tilted her head at me, sitting on the bed with a confused expression. She grabbed a can of beer from the fridge, handed it to me, and sat on my lap. She opened the can and started drinking. When I opened mine, some of the beer splashed into my eye, and she laughed at the sight.
“Pfft… haha, ahahaha,” But Saki’s laughter soon turned into the mocking, triumphant laughter of my son, echoing in my head.
And so, my downfall began…
