Chapter 6: Fire Dragon

“AHAHAHAHA!! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIEEEEEEEEEE!!!”

With madness gleaming in his eyes, a man swung his fist to blast away all of the monsters that caught his attention. There were B-rank monsters from the lower levels, but the man didn’t even care. He kept rampaging without a care. However, seeing the man rampaging like a mere beast, the intelligent B-rank monsters began to surround him. Having lost all his reason, the man quickly found himself surrounded by B-rank Minotaur. 

Even a skilled explorer wouldn’t be able to get out unscathed after being surrounded by monsters, especially B-rank monsters. He was in great danger. 

“〈Shock Blast〉!”

Not even the least panicked, the man extended his hand toward the ground and cast his skill. He jumped high into the air and then, he cast another skill behind him to quickly close the distance between him and one of the Minotaur in less than a second. 

“〈Shock Blast〉!”

BAMMM!!

The moment his fist made contact with the Minotaur, the Minotaur was sent flying. Its body became a distorted mess mid-air. Without any hesitation, the man directed his skill toward the wall, taking down the other Minotaurs in the same manner. The Minotaurs were so overwhelmed by his speed. Not a single one managed to land an attack on him. 

“ORRAAAAAAAAA!!”

All five Minotaurs were reduced to mere meat piles, not one left standing.

“Phew… I’m exhausted.”

Finally returning to his senses, the man muttered to himself.

“Pwahhhh!!’

Returning to my senses, I gulped down the water as if I was a car being refueled. It had been six months since my strange behavior accidentally got caught in Mashiro-chan’s livestream. She was a popular dungeon streamer with 2  million subscribers. Since then, a few changes had happened to me. 

While catching my breath, I looked at the comment sections displayed on my smartphone. Yes. The first thing that changed was my viewer count. 

[Instant kill against the Minotaur!! Ahhh! Feels so gooooood!!]

Compared to six months ago, the comment sections were flowing at a much faster rate and I currently had 3.156 live viewers. For some reason, the number of people coming to watch my streams had increased significantly since then. Furthermore, I now had over 300.000 channel subscribers. 

…Hmm… I wonder why?

To anyone looking in, I must’ve looked like a complete madman who killed monsters solely for pleasure alone, not for money or loot. Well, in any case, the increase in viewer count was nothing but good to me. Thanks to this, I could buy better weapons and armor with the money I earned from streaming and I could also enjoy slightly more luxurious meals than usual. For example, I could order not just fries and a burger set at a certain fast food chain restaurant. I could also order nuggets! Or I could treat myself to some sweets from the convenience store. By now, I had gotten used to this slightly indulgent lifestyle. I really couldn’t imagine going back to my previous broke lifestyle. 

I drank a potion to recover the stamina I had exhausted from using my skills. 

“Phew… Alright. I’ve had my break. Time to kill a few more monsters.”

Once again, madness ignited in my eyes. The second thing that had changed was that I could pretend to be a crazy berserker without using the skill, 〈Berserk〉. While 〈Berserk〉 allowed me to become a berserker who felt no pain, but it also made me unable to make rational judgments until the skill’s effect wore off. To avoid this, I had learned how to act like a crazy man by referencing my past streams. Now, I could perform a perfect insanity without the skill. 

“Maybe I will challenge an A-rank monster for the first time in a while.”

Cracking my finger joints, I ventured deeper into the dungeon. Most importantly, I had become even stronger compared to six months ago. Back then, I could barely handle a single Minotaur, but now I could solo an A-rank monster. I walked through the dungeon scanning the area for any signs of movement when I sensed the presence of a monster in the northeast direction.

“There it is, there it is…!”

I hurried to that direction and there, I saw a red dragon. 

“A Fire Dragon, huh?”

It was a Fire Dragon, one of the most famous monsters among A-rank monsters. 

“Perfect… This guy is basically the poster child of A-rank monsters…〈Shock Blast〉!”

I activated〈Shock Blast〉to accelerate rapidly while the Fire Dragon was still unaware of my presence. I quickly closed the distance between me and Fire Dragon. 

“ORRAAAAAHHHH!!”

I punched the base of the Fire Dragon’s right wing with all my might. Having the impact increased thanks to my speed, the blow gouged deep into the wing’s base, causing the right wing to plummet to the ground. Dungeon floors came in various types. This one in particular was the one with high ceilings and hardly any walls. It was practically an open space. Hence why, my biggest concern was having the Fire Dragon flying in the air. Since the right wing of the dragon had been cut off…

“YOU’RE IN MY DOMAIN NOW!”

A dragon that can’t fly is no better than a mere lizard. 

I raised my right arm high and swung it down, this time to deliver a powerful punch to the Fire Dragon’s face.

“GYAOOOO!!”

Of course the Fire Dragon didn’t shatter into pieces like other weak monsters. However, my punch had caused significant damage. Part of its face caved in. I raised my left fist, trying to launch another attack, but the Fire Dragon exerted its strength and swung its tail to create some distance between us. Then, the dragon opened its mouth wide. It gathered all of its remaining power. This was Fire Dragon’s signature move. A breath attack. The flames from Fire Dragon’s breath attack were over 2.000 degrees. It could melt even the bravest explorer down to their bones.

Under normal circumstances, I should use 〈Shock Blast〉 to avoid this breath attack. Or, I could use 〈Shock Blast〉 to strike the Fire Dragon down before it unleashes its breath. But that wouldn’t be fun.

Although I’m an adventurer, I’m also a streamer. 

In order to entertain the 3000 viewers watching my livestream… No. For money, I did nothing and stood still.

[Huh? You’re not going to do anything?]

[You’re underestimating it too much! You’re going to die, you know?!]

And then, the Fire Dragon’s fully charged breath was coming at me. The heat was so intense that my skin began to sizzle even before the breath reached me. The scorching breath, capable of melting everything down to the bone, was about to touch my skin, but…

I activated that skill. I didn’t have any tricks or secret strategies. What I was about to do was simply a test of strength between the Fire Dragon’s breath and my 〈Shock Blast〉.
