“Alright, let’s get started.”
Feeling a bit nervous about livestreaming again after such a long break, I stretched my body first. During my last livestream, my Berserk skill had been exposed. The comment sections were having a field day. I was dubbed as a #BusinessMadman and people wouldn’t stop making fun of me. I was pondering how I should proceed from here on. Should I continue down the path of the mad berserker persona I had cultivated? Or should I steer off the course and present myself as a more normal human being?
After some pondering, I decided to stick with what I had been doing so far.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I pressed the ‘Start Stream’ button.
“Yo, what’s up everyone? It’s been a while, huh?”
[It’s hereeeee!!]
[I’ve been waiting for Hiiragi’s livestream for so long!]
[The heck. I seriously thought you were going to quit livestreaming after earning enough money from your last stream.]
[Are you going to be in ‘madman mode’ in this stream?]
[No way. Now that everyone knows about his berserker skill, there’s no way he can keep acting like a madman. LOLOL]
I was well aware that my secret had been exposed. But still, as absurd as it might seem, I still planning on continuing the madman act. After all, it would be more entertaining for the viewers if I kept acting like that. Besides, I had been donning the persona of a madman this whole time. Changing my persona this late in the game felt kind of pointless. Since I had come this far, I might as well keep the madman act to the end.
“Now then, we’re going to do something a bit different and exciting today! We’re going to do a speedrun to the lower levels!”
[The heck? LOLOL]
[I never heard that term being used in a dungeon exploration before.]
[Huh? Is this a gaming livestream?]
“Actually, I’m not in West Tokyo Dungeon right now. I’m in a bit more rural dungeon. I’m in the Okutama Dungeon today. I want to see how fast I can reach the lower levels of the Okutama Dungeon.”
[You’re insane…]
[Now that you mention it, the scenery does look a bit different than usual.]
[Nothing but forest in the background.]
[Wait… Okutama Dungeon… You mean that Okutama Jungle Dungeon??]
The Okutama Dungeon was a bit different from the West Tokyo Dungeon where I usually streamed. The West Tokyo Dungeon was like the typical dungeon. The dungeon was structured in a maze-type dungeon with endless stone corridors and rooms. Meanwhile, the Okutama Dungeon consisted of a vast jungle. The Okutama Dungeon was known for its immense size and you could get lost easily in this jungle, hence why it earned the nickname ‘Okutama Jungle’.
“And for the Okutama Lower Levels Speedrun session today, I have three rules. First, I need to properly defeat the bosses.”
In other words, I would need to defeat two bosses. One located between the upper and middle levels and the other one located between the middle and lower levels.
“The second rule. I need to do this challenge on my own. The third rule. I need to defeat every monster I come across.”
[Huh?]
[LMAO]
[So basically… You will kill everything you see?]
[I thought we’re going to do a speedrun today? Shouldn’t you be skipping stuff that slows you down? LOLOL]
“Even though this is a speedrun, but it’s still a dungeon exploration. Not defeating the monsters defeats the whole purpose of a ‘dungeon exploration’, right?”
This was the idea I came up with during my break from livestreaming. Speedrun was basically a challenge where you set a goal and try to achieve it as quickly as possible. This term was mostly used in RPGs and other games. People never applied this term in dungeon exploration since survival was far more important than speed.
[Has he finally lost it?]
[Defeating every monster he sees? That’s just stupid.]
[If you’re losing it because your secret was exposed, you really need to calm down. This is suicide, man!]
[No, no. Keep going. This is going to be fun.]
[¥10,000 This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for.]
“Thank you for the 10.000 yen tips! ….I also see comments about me losing it, but relax. I didn’t come up with this plan out of desperation because of my last livestream. I decided to do this because I know I can pull it off.”
To most people, my plan might seem like a suicide mission. Even if it was just a gimmick, no normal person would willingly throw themselves into a horde of hundreds of monsters or rip through them while screaming maniacally. Normal people would value their lives more and normal people would be put off by such grotesque sights. In other words… Maybe I wasn’t as normal as my viewers might think. So if I showed this side of myself to my viewers without using the berserker skill, maybe I could return to being the berserker type streamer once again.
Or so I thought.
[This is Hiiragi we’re talking about. I think he can pull it off for real.]
[He’s going viral as the BusinessMadman, but he’s actually pretty strong. No. He’s INSANELY strong.]
[Is he really that strong?]
[He’s still crazy in the head though. LOLOL]
[Hiiragi, how long do you think it will take for you to reach the lower levels?]
“Well… My target is… Let’s say I will need four hours to get the middle levels from the upper levels… Then I will need another six hours to reach the lower levels from the middle levels. I guess ten hours in total.”
In the era of dungeons, it was not uncommon for explorers to spend several days within the dungeon, but I had a skill I could use to travel. 〈Shock Blast〉 allowed me to travel from one place to another at a very high speed. Not to mention, I was confident I could defeat middle tier monsters easily on my own.
“With that being said, I’m all set to go now. Okutama Lower Levels Speedrun session will start in…”
I placed my hand over the timer button on my smartphone app and…
“Now! 〈Shock Blast〉!”
Explosion of wind blasted behind me, signaling the start of my lower level speedrun session.
Little did I know, this challenge would be full of turmoil.
