Despite appearances, it moved with considerable speed, far beyond that of the giant I had defeated before.

Sapphire’s slashes were all blocked by a single arm, which remained unscathed.

The monster targeted Sapphire with a second arm.

Having been parried and thrown off balance, Sapphire couldn’t evade.

Sapphire, a close-combat specialist, and Topaz, a long-range expert, attacked in perfect harmony.

Topaz covered Sapphire’s openings, while Sapphire prevented enemies from getting near Topaz.

With consecutive attacks that left no opening for a counterattack, it seemed the enemy monster had been cornered.
