Chapter 11: Haruka Wants to Be the Ideal Partner
“Hey, Issei-kun.”
Haruka entered the room, smiling brightly. It was hard to believe this was the same person who had repeatedly pressed the intercom and knocked on the door insistently.
“I came to see you—for your sake.”
She casually winked.
Haruka, you sent messages that were far too intense to be smoothed over with a mere gesture like that.
Is she the type whose impression differs greatly between real life and her words? When she acts so normal, it only makes my thoughts wander more unnecessarily.
Seeing her again in her uniform, Haruka’s figure stood out.
Her height gave her a noticeable presence and a slight air of intimidation. Her shirt was buttoned loosely, creating an effect that could only be described as lethal to the eyes of a male. It was divine.
“Still, you were stalking me and forcing your way in,” I said.
“Isn’t that phrasing a bit cruel?”
“It’s the truth.”
For now, things seemed under control, but I had no idea when Haruka might cross the line into abnormal territory. I needed to tread carefully.
“I didn’t press the intercom or knock on the door continuously because I was seriously trying to,” she explained.
“Even so, it was terrifying for me.”
“Sorry about that. I hypothesized that you’d find it amusing, Issei-kun.”
Was she being serious? I looked at her with suspicion.
“I’ve known for a long time that Ruriko is the kind of person who struggles emotionally. And you, who seem like a perfect match for her and resistant to such issues, might even accept someone faking being troubled,” she said.
“What kind of gamble is that?”
“Well, judging by your behavior earlier today, I figured you might be into this kind of thing as an M, and that it could even be a reward for you.”
If I were the simple type of guy who adored “yandere” girls, maybe she’d be right. But I wasn’t. After experiencing enough turmoil, I’d decided to keep my distance from “yandere” types.
Haruka, like the others, was no exception—her actions screamed “yandere.” Even if she was joking, her messages, followed by that relentless knocking, had sent chills down my spine. There was an air of authenticity about it.
“Anyway, the whole yandere act is scary. Please stop it. There won’t be a next time.”
“Got it! I just couldn’t resist wanting to see your troubled expression, Issei-kun. I know, I need to work on not going overboard like that.”
As long as she understood, that was fine. What was done couldn’t be undone, but the future could always be shaped with effort.
“Still… someone else’s fruit always looks sweeter.”
Haruka licked her upper lip slowly. Her eyes had the predatory gleam of a hunter staring down its prey.
“Haruka? You’re just here to give me a scare and leave, right? It’s getting late, and your family might get worried.”
“Ah, my family.” Haruka dismissed the thought indifferently.
“I already told them I’m staying at a friend’s place. I didn’t mention that friend was a guy, though.”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously-seriously.”
So, just like in the original story.
Even Haruka Asai had the makings of a yandere. Although her approach differed from other girls, her proactive pursuit of her target was unmistakable.
“I’ve always been a greedy person. When I admired something, I couldn’t stop until I made it mine,” she said.
“Whether it was objects, status, or people?”
“Exactly. If I wanted a toy, I’d ask sweetly for it. I practiced hard at basketball because I wanted to be part of a strong district team.”
It wasn’t just about wanting something—Haruka’s strength was in taking action. That was something I often admired during gameplay.
She faced the gap between her ideals and reality head-on and took action to bridge it. She didn’t stop until her goals became tangible.
In the end, no matter how high the hoop, she’d effortlessly sink the shot.
“What about people?” I asked.
“If it’s a boy I like, I don’t care if he’s already dating someone. If I make it clear that I’m better, he’ll come to me. Why wouldn’t I try?”
Her aggressive methods seemed like they would ruin her reputation, but…
Even the ex-girlfriends of the boys she took ended up falling for her, so miraculously, it never became an issue. Her perfect balance of cuteness and coolness was what made it work.
“Are you going to do the same thing this time?”
“Yes. If even Ruriko is drawn to you, then you must have some special ‘something.’ Other people’s fruit always looks tastier. Plus, a cute M like you is my favorite. Why wouldn’t I make you my target?”
She had no qualms about saying this to my face.
“Even if you say that, I can’t choose you right away,” I replied.
“Huh?”
“I’ve already turned down Ruriko-san and put things on hold.”
“Why? If Ruriko’s not an option, why not go with me?”
“I can’t explain, but it’s not possible. Anyway, for now, I need you to—”
Before I could finish, she pressed her index finger against my lips.
“Why won’t you choose me? Why not at least put me on hold? Am I inferior to Ruriko?”
She didn’t even give me a chance to respond. Her pressure was unrelenting.
It hurt, so I had no choice but to push her away.
“…Ahem. I might’ve gone too far just now, but I really want to know. What do I need to do to be chosen by you? What am I lacking, and what should I fix? I want to grow every day. Will you help me with that, Issei-kun?”
The intense pressure was overwhelming.
Though I wanted to resolve this peacefully, I couldn’t help but let my honest feelings slip out.
“Sorry. Honestly, you’re too much.”
It was as if Haruka had received a revelation—her expression brightened.
“Haha! I thought so. At first, people resist. But you see, my ‘intensity’ will slowly seep into you like poison. By the time you notice, it’ll be too late—you’ll be mine.”
“Unwavering, aren’t you?”
“Of course. I’ll leave quietly for today. But I’ll finish one piece of homework first.”
As she spoke, Haruka moved behind me.
She wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into an embrace, pressing the front of her body against my back.
The contrast between firm and soft was striking.
Her scent was sweet with a hint of sharpness.
“I’ll make you mine.”
Her whispered words were deep and smooth, carrying an androgynous allure.
It was a strange sensation I had never felt with any other girl. It almost made my head spin.
After a moment, she let go as if satisfied.
Having completed her “homework,” she left quickly.
“See you,” she said.
The door clicked shut behind her.
The room was filled with her lingering scent, overwhelming even Ruriko-san’s fragrance.
Even after getting into bed, the whirlwind of the day left me unable to calm down.
At this rate, I wouldn’t get any rest unless I forced myself to settle down.
