I Want a Girlfriend who Won’t Betray Me - Chapter 6
Cultural Festival (1)
Wakana’s POV
Two weeks ago, during lunch break, Takayuki asked me to explain my relationship with Kazuki in detail. I have explained it to him before, but he asked me about it again.
After that, when I told him I want to break up with him, he asked if it’s because of Kazuki. When I said yes, he told me, ‘I will never break up with you’.
Of course, he would say that. I also think that it’s unfair for me to only be nice to Takayuki when it’s convenient for me. Then the moment Kazuki appears, I ask him to break up with me, that is indeed disrespectful, but my feelings for Takayuki have already faded.
We ran out of time and I told him that we’d talk again, but I avoided meeting him, using festival preparations as an excuse. On both Saturday and Sunday, I told him that I wasn’t feeling well.
As long as I’m in the classroom, I can always be by Kazuki’s side. That is much better.

Kazuki’s POV
The cultural festival is held on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is for students only, and on Sunday, each student can invite up to two guests.
Both of my parents actually want to come to the festival, but my mother has decided to return to the entertainment industry and she is so busy lately. So, only my father will come to the festival on Sunday.
My mom said that she wants to see how I’m doing in school. I suppose that she’s worried.
On Saturday, the festival begins at 10AM with an opening announcement from the student council president.
As expected, there are hardly any visitors in our class café.
About an hour later, students start trickling in. My assigned shift is from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Students are gradually coming in, but it’s still not too busy.
However, when I greet the students who comes in through the reception desk in the hallway,
“Welcome. Please take a seat.”
For some reason, some of them blush and space out.
“Here is the menu. Please let me know when you’ve decided.”
“You…”
What does she want to say? It makes no sense at all.
At 12 PM, my shift ends, and the event committee member, Kanbayashi, calls out to me.
“Hey, Shinonome. Sorry, but could you wear this placard around your neck and walk around the school with Kisaragi-san? It’s almost lunchtime.”
“Eh!?”
The placard says that Class 1A is running a café. I see, it’s like a walking advertisement.
“Got it. Just one round should be enough, right?”
‘Yeah, of course. Kisaragi-san, I’m counting on you too.”
“Yeah, got it.”

Wakana’s POV
How lucky. I get to walk around the school with Kazuki.
“Kazuki, let’s go.”
“Yeah.”
With the placards hanging around our necks, the two of us walk down the school hallways. Since there are food stalls set up from the first floor to the third floor and around the school building, we decided to cover those areas as well.

Kazuki’s POV
As we walk together, we are getting quite a few stares. When we go up to the second and third floors, where the upperclassmen are, many of them calls out to us.
“Are you one of the waiters?”
“Yes.”
“What time are you working?”
“From 10 AM for two hours.”
“I see. I’ll come by then.”
“Thank you.”
Wakana is also being called out in the same way.
Wakana is drawing a lot of attention because she is so cute. There are other students doing the same thing as us, but Wakana stands out the most.
After leisurely walking around the school for about 40 minutes, we return to the classroom and give the placard back to Kanbayashi.
“Thanks. It seems like we’re getting more customers. I’ll need you to do this again tomorrow.”
“Got it.”
After that, Wakana and I go with the flow and eat some food together at the various stalls.
“Wakana, are you sure you don’t want to be with Goto?”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s the cultural festival, after all.”
She’s saying something that doesn’t make sense at all. But if she says it’s fine, then I guess it should be fine.
Afterward, the two of us visit other class events and check out performances in the gym, like the brass band and the light music club.
For me, it’s the best day ever. I’m practically going on a date with Wakana, and it seems like we’ll get to do this again tomorrow. I’m so happy.
The first day ends with the student council president’s announcement. Everyone returns to the classroom for a brief reflection on the day. Then, Kanbayashi discusses about the things we need to be careful of for tomorrow. After that, we are dismissed.
As I’m about to leave the classroom with Kazuki to head to the station, someone calls out to me.
“Shinonome-kun.”
Standing there is Yatsugashira Otoe-san. A friend of mine from middle school.
“Ah, Yatsugashira-san.”
“Shinonome-kun, remember how we said we’d walk home together and talk after school the other day? That didn’t happen, so how about today?”
“Sorry, maybe next time.”
“Okay. Well, see you then.”

Wakana’s POV
Why did Yatsugashira-san call out to Kazuki? They were in different classes in middle school. Kazuki was only there for three months, there’s no way she would’ve known about him.
