I Want a Girlfriend who Won’t Betray Me - Chapter 27
Meeting Kamijo-san
The day I return from the pool with Kanbayashi and the others.
During dinner, my mom told me.
“Kazuki, you’ve got quite a tan.”
“Yeah, I went to the pool on the 3rd and today.”
“Oh, you went twice?”
“Yeah, for certain reasons.”
“I see. After getting sunburned, make sure to put lotion on after your bath. You can use mine.”
“Eh? That would be a waste on me.”
“What are you talking about? If you don’t take care of your skin properly after sunburn, it’ll get rough.”
“Okay then. I’ll do that.”
My mom’s lotion is ridiculously expensive. Is it really okay for me to use it?
Thanks to applying my mom’s lotion after bathing for about three days, the sunburn quietly fades away. As expected, it’s amazing.
After going to the pool, I’ve been reading books every day for my book report. I’m planning to choose the one I like the most so I can write a review on.
While I’m doing that in my room, my phone vibrates.
When I look at the screen, I see it’s from Kamijo-san.
I wonder what this is about?
“Hello, Kazuki?”
“Yes, this is Shinonome.”
“Hey, I want to go see a movie tomorrow or the day after. So, can you come with me?”
“I’m reading books for my book report right now, so…”
“Ehh, come on! There are still more than 20 days of summer break left. Hey, let’s go! You promised to meet me again after the pool, remember?”
She’s right, I did promise her that.
“Alright. Tomorrow is fine.”
“Then let’s meet at the station near my house?”
“That’s fine, but which movie theater are we going to?”
“Shibuyama.”
“Got it. What time should I be there?”
“How about 9 AM at the station? That way, we can catch the 10 AM movie.”
“Understood.”
She’s very forward or maybe even pushy. She’s a good girl, though.
Wait, she called me by my first name. Since when?
The next day, just as promised, I wait at the platform in the direction of Shibuyama at the nearest station to her house.
Not long after, Kamijo-san shows up.
She is wearing cute pink shorts and a white T-shirt, paired with orange-heeled sandals and carrying an adorable green bag. Her breasts are quite emphasized.
“Kazuki, have you waited long?”
“No, I just got here. By the way, why are you calling me by my first name?”
“Eh? At the pool, you said I could call you by your first name.”
“That was just for the pool, though.”
“Did you really say that? But it’s fine, isn’t it? It’s just the two of us today.”
I can’t win against her in an argument, so I might as well drop it. It’s not like anyone will misunderstand if it’s just the two of us.
It’s five stops from this station to Shibuyama. After exiting the ticket gate, crossing the traffic light, and go up the corridor slope a little, the theater is on the left. There are quite a lot of people.
“I’ve already decided what to watch. That one.”
She has chosen a movie from a well-known spy thriller series starring a famous foreign actor in a dangerous espionage role. I have seen a few instalments of this series as well.
“Sounds good. Should we buy the tickets?”
“Don’t worry, I already bought them online. We just need to get the ticket.”
“Eh? What about the ticket cost?”
“Just treat me to lunch and tea later.”
It seems like she’s planning to spend the whole day with me. Since we still have some time before the movie starts, we take the elevator up to the screening floor and kill time by looking at upcoming movie posters.
“Hey, let’s come see this one next!”
“I’m not making any promises.”
“Oh, come on! Isn’t it fine?”
She’s so pushy, or should I say selfish. I don’t feel like arguing with her. There’s no point in refusing now.
As the screening time approaches, we go inside the theatre. The movie is pretty intense. Before I knew it, she is holding my hand. When I try to pull away, she holds on tightly and won’t let go.
Seriously…!
After the hour and a half screening, we go outside.
“That was pretty intense! I heard they didn’t even use any stunt doubles. That’s amazing.”
I’m more curious about how many motorcycles they sent flying off the cliff…
“Hey, it’s a bit early, but let’s have lunch now. If we go at this time, we won’t have to wait in line.”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Where do you want to go?”
“There’s a popular Chinese restaurant upstairs. Their cold noodles are really delicious!”
“Hmm, have you been there before?”
“Yeah, with my friends.”
Following her lead, we walk further up the corridor slope. On the left side, there it is. Even though it’s only 11.40 AM, about five people are already in line.
“See? People are already lining up. I told you! Normally, the line is even longer.”
“Wow, now I’m really looking forward to it.”
Maybe because of the fast turnover, we are seated in about fifteen minutes. The place is packed.
Both Kamijo-san and I order the cold noodles she had recommended earlier, and they arrive in about fifteen minutes.
“What do you think? Doesn’t it look beautiful? It’s the ultimate cold Chinese noodles!”
The presentation is certainly gorgeous. I take a bite, chewing carefully. The combination of the noodles’ texture and the flavourful broth is really delicious.
“Yeah, you’re right, Kamijo-san. It’s really good.”
“Right? Right?”
After the two of us has a leisurely meal, we go outside.
“Hey, let’s go for a little walk.”
“I don’t mind, but the sun is pretty strong right now.”
“It’s fine. I put on plenty of sunscreen. I take really good care of my skin.”
She really doesn’t have any signs of sunburn at all. We walk across Kairozaka to the right. She deliberately leads me through some rather questionable areas. Occasionally, our arms brush against each other. Is that on purpose?

Sana’s POV
Fufu, the love hotel district. It looks much cleaner now, but that doesn’t change what kind of place it is. Someday, Kazuki and I will come here together. That’s why I need him to remember this area.

Kazuki’s POV
We continue walking, passing by the TV station and heading further toward the back shrine path. It’s quite far. I try to walk in the shade as much as possible, but at this time of day, the sun is directly above us.
“Kazuki, let’s go into a café. I know a really nice place.”
“Sure.”
She seems to know this area well. On the other hand, I have no clue at all. Back in elementary school, I never had a reason to come to a place like this.
Kamijo-san takes me to a café that has a calm atmosphere. The bell rings as we open the door. The place is quite stylish.
“Welcome. Please feel free to sit wherever you like.”
I’m not sure it’s a staff or the owner, but an elderly man behind the counter greets us.
“Nice place, isn’t it? I’ve always wanted to come here with you, Kazuki.”
“Yeah, it’s really nice and calming.”
We both order iced milk tea. It’s really good.
“Hey, Kazuki.”
“Yeah?”
“Kazuki, you don’t have a girlfriend right now, do you? …of course, I know everything that’s happened, and I understand if you don’t feel like starting anything new for a while…but if possible, I’d like to start as just friends with Kazuki…would that be okay?”
“……”
I just can’t bring myself to do that right now. Regardless of Kisaragi-san, what happened between me and Yatsugashira-san hurt too much.
Thanks to Kanbayashi and the others, I managed to pull myself together, but I never want to go through something like that again. That’s why I don’t want to get involved in anything too deep.
“Kamijo-san, I appreciate your feelings, but it’s too difficult for me right now. We met today, but let’s wait until the new semester before seeing each other again. I want to spend the rest of summer break alone.”
“…yeah, I understand. I’m sorry for asking too much. But when the new semester starts, can I talk to you again? Will you see me?”
“I don’t know yet…so I can’t give you an answer right now. Also, please stop calling me by my first name at school.”
“Okay, I promise.”
Aside from talking about the movie, we end up having that conversation too, but I really don’t want to continue it any further.
“Shall we head home now?”
That’s all for today.
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
Before she gets off the train.
“Shinonome-kun, I had a really great time today. Thank you.”
She said it with such a bright and beautiful smile.
She’s not a bad girl, but I feel like she’d be a handful. I think dating her might be a bit difficult.

I feel like bringing him through the love-hotel area would just remind him of the girls he liked who went there with other guys. Pretty strange choice. It also reveals that she’s likely used these places in the past…
