A Day at the Pool with Kanbayashi and the Others (1)

The day after going to the pool with Kamijo-san, I sleep in late. I’m pretty exhausted. It also seems like I got a bit of a sunburn.

I thought I’d be fine since it was cloudy, but I guess not. I should cool it down today, or I’ll end up getting sunburned again tomorrow.

I’m going to the pool with Kanbayashi and the others tomorrow, and Koiwai-san mentioned that one of her friends will be coming along. I wonder who it is?

I’m supposed to meet up with Kanbayashi and the others at 10 AM. Since I’ve been there the other day, I already know how long it will take me to get there.

I get off at the station near the amusement park, carrying my sports bag, and see Kanbayashi and the others waiting in front of the ticket booth.

I greet them as I approach them.

“Good morning, Kanbayashi, Koiwai-san. And…?”

“Ah, right, this is your first time meeting her, Shinonome-kun. Let me introduce you. This is my friend, Kaori Asai.”

“This is actually not the first time we meet each other, Shinonome-kun.”

“Ah, but this is the first time I’ve heard your name.”

“Eh? Have you two met somewhere before?”

“Yes, before the summer break. One afternoon, I was watering the flowers when Shinonome-kun sat on a bench nearby to eat his lunch. I think that was the first time we met.”

“Lunch? Ah, that time.”

“Takeo, let’s buy our tickets already.”

“Yeah, let’s do that.”

The four of us buy our tickets and enter the gate. Turning right, we pass through the entrance to the pool area.

When we arrive at the locker area, Kanbayashi says,

“Let’s meet up here afterward.”

“Okay.”

“Got it.”

After parting ways with the girls, I go to the locker room with Kanbayashi to change.

“Shinonome, what do you think of Asai-san?”

“What do I think? Well, I think she’s really beautiful.”

“I see. She’s beautiful, smart, and has a kind heart. She’s a really good girl.”

Even if Kanbayashi says so, I don’t really know much about her yet, so I can’t give a proper response.

After changing, Kanbayashi and I wait in front of the locker rooms. Soon, Koiwai-san and Asai-san appears.

Koiwai-san is wearing a cute yellow bikini, with her hair tied up in a ponytail and a white rash guard over her swimsuit. She seems happy when she sees Kanbayashi.

Meanwhile, Asai-san…her long hair is tied up in a bun, making her facial features stand out even more and enhancing her beauty.

Also, I hadn’t notice this in her regular clothes before, but she has ample breasts and slender legs. She is wearing an orange bikini with a blue rash guard over it. I’m not quite sure where to look.

“Alright, let’s decide where to sit. Karen, Asai-san, where do you want to sit?”

“It seems that there’s enough space for four people over there.”

It’s around the same spot where I’ve sat with Sana the day before yesterday.

“Alright, let’s sit there. Shinonome, you’re good with it?”

“Anywhere is fine for me.”

“Then it’s decided.”

After laying out the sheet, we put our belongings on it.

“What should we do first?”

“Let’s go to the lazy river first. Kaori, let’s go rent some float rings.”

“Yeah.”

Watching the two of them head towards the store to get float rings, I ask Kanbayashi.

“Kanbayashi, what’s the relationship between Koiwai-san and Asai-san?”

“They live in the same neighbourhood. They’ve been together since they were kids.”

“Eh, is that so? No wonder they’re so close.”

“Yeah. Karen and I met in middle school, and that’s when I also got to know Asai-san. But with her looks, she’s had plenty of guys confess to her, and she’s turned them all down.”

“Is that so…”

After the two of them return with the float rings, we go to the lazy river.

Koiwai-san slips her lower half into the float, while Asai-san simply sit inside hers.

Kanbayashi and I pull the girls’ float rings along, or sometimes just hold onto them and float around.

“Shinonome-kun, can you swim?”

“I can swim a little, but I’m not too good at it.”

“Is that so? I’m about the same. Want to try swimming together for a bit?”

“Well, sure.”

Asai-san slips out of her float ring and hands it to Koiwai-san. Then, I start swimming alongside her. With people around, we can’t swim in a straight course like in a pool, but we managed to swim pretty well.

“Shinonome-kun, I heard from Karen that you transferred here from a middle school in Boston, USA. Could you tell me more about your life there later?”

“Of course, but it’s just a normal life.”

“That’s fine, I’d still love to hear about it.”

Kanbayashi and Koiwai-san are talking behind us.

“Ehh, I can’t believe Kaori is actually starting a conversation with a boy.”

“Yeah. But if it’s Shinonome, he might just live up to her expectations.”

“I hope so.”

Meanwhile, Asai-san and I try swimming back against the current to where we were, but we aren’t making much progress.

“We’re not moving forward at all.”

“You’re right. Kanbayashi and Koiwai-san will be here soon, should we just wait?”

“Yeah.”

A moment later, Koiwai-san, still floating on her ring, and Kanbayashi, pulling Asai-san’s float ring along, comes to us.

“You two seem to be getting along well.”

“Yeah, it’s fun.”

“Uwaa, that’s the first time I’ve heard Kaori say something like that while hanging out with a guy.”

“That’s not true!”

“Alright, I think we’re done with the lazy river. Let’s do that next.”

Kanbayashi points at the water slide. Memories from the other day flash through my mind, but with this group, nothing like that should happen.

After returning the float rings to the rental shop, the four of us walk along the poolside toward the waterslide.

“Wow, she’s gorgeous.”

“Yeah, and she’s got an amazing figure too.”

“But the guy she’s with…no chance against him.”

“You’re right.”

They are just saying whatever they want. But well, they aren’t wrong.
