I Want a Girlfriend who Won’t Betray Me - Chapter 12
Fun Times and Lively People
I decided to officially start dating Yatsugashira Otoe.
The next day, when I arrive at the station near our school, Otoe is waiting for me.
“Good morning, Kazuki.”
“Good morning, Otoe.”
The students from our school around us look surprised, but that will only be for now.
Otoe walks up beside me and takes my hand.
I hesitate for a moment, but when I squeeze her hand back, she looks up at me with a lovely smile on her face.
Now that I look closely, she really is beautiful.
She is tall, with long, silky black hair. Her large, well-defined eyes and straight nose give her a striking appearance. Her lips are charming, and her facial structure complements all these features perfectly. She also has a well-proportioned figure, with a defined waist and a firm chest.
“What’s wrong, Kazuki? You’re staring at me.”
“I know it’s a little late to say this, but you’re really beautiful, Otoe.”
Ah, she is blushing.
“Ouch!”
She lets go of my hand and starts lightly hitting my arm.
“What’s that? All of a sudden. It’s embarrassing…but I’m happy.”
“Haha, that reaction is so cute. Ouch!”
She hits me again.
We hold hands and go through the school gate to the entrance.
“See you at lunch, Kazuki.”
“Yeah.”
When I enter the classroom, I don’t go straight to my seat. Instead, I walk over to Kanbayashi.
“Good morning, Kanbayashi, Koiwai-san.”
“Oh, morning, Shinonome.”
“Good morning, Shinonome-kun.”
Then, I sit down at my seat, trying not to look at Wakana.
Wakana turns toward me.
“Good morning, Kazuki.”
“Good morning, Kisaragi-san.”
That’s all I say before ignoring her and taking out my textbook for the first period.

Wakana’s POV
Kazuki still won’t even look me in the eyes. I’ve already broken up with Goto.
That guy said something ridiculous
‘I’ll break up with you, but let me do it with you one last time.’
I ignored him, it didn’t matter anymore.
However, he kept insisting, saying if I didn’t agree to do it, he’d keep approaching me at school. I had no choice but to let him do it with me one last time. We did it in my room.
I really thought that was the end, but my body still reacted. Somehow, it felt different, it felt much better than usual.
Then, I realized, he didn’t use protection.
I was extremely angry, but he just said that since it was over between us, he wanted to do whatever he wanted.
After he was done, he said goodbye and left on his own.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, I went straight to the drugstore. It was really embarrassing, but I pulled a pharmacist aside and explained my situation in a low voice.
Normally, a doctor’s prescription is needed, but I insisted that I didn’t have time and managed to get it anyway.
A month has passed since then, and there haven’t been any strange symptoms, so it looks like I took it in time.
Since then, Goto stopped talking to me completely. He doesn’t even come near me anymore.
Now, all that’s left is to tell Kazuki that I’ve officially broken up with Goto and go back to how things were. But I can’t find the right timing at all.
Lately, it seems that Kazuki has been meeting with Yatsugashira-san on weekends, too.
I don’t want to believe it, but…
The morning classes have ended, and it’s lunchtime.
However, Kazuki isn’t moving from his seat.
As I’m wondering what’s going on,
“Kazuki, let’s have lunch.”
“Eh!?”
‘Wait, what did Yatsugashira-san from 1B just say?’
‘Did she just invite Shinonome-kun to lunch?’
‘What’s that in her hand? That’s a bento bag, right? And there are two of them’
‘No way!’
The usual three girls are whispering among themselves again.
“Ah, Otoe, I’ve been waiting for you. Should we eat in the cafeteria?”
“Yeah.”
‘Ehh!? Did you hear that?’
‘Yeah, Shinonome-kun and Yatsugashira-san…’
‘This is so frustrating!’
So, Kazuki chose Yatsugashira-san. While everyone else was just watching and waiting, she made her move…

Kazuki’s POV
I get up from my seat and walk over to Otoe.
“Your class sure is lively.”
“It’s always like this. Anyway, I’m hungry.”
“Me too.”
We sit down at a table in the corner of the cafeteria.
“Here, this one’s yours, Kazuki.”
“Ah, thanks.”
Otoe’s bento box is smaller than mine. When I open the lid—
“Whoa!”
Inside the bento is white rice, large pieces of karaage, rolled omelette, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and simmered eggplant.
“I hope it suits your taste.”
I take a bite of the karaage and chew it thoroughly. The rich flavour of the chicken and its juices spread through my mouth.
“This is delicious!”
“Really? I’m so glad! Try the other dishes too.”
“Yeah.”
The rolled omelette has a mild saltiness, bringing out the natural flavour of the egg. The simmered eggplant is also delicious.
“Everything tastes great.”
“Fufufu, can I keep making them for you from now on?”
“Of course! But I can’t just let you do it for free, so—”
“Fufu, love isn’t something you can put a price on. So I won’t accept any money.”
“I-I see.”
I enjoy eating the bento that Otoe made while having a fun conversation with her. The stares from those around us are intense, but I’ll just have to get used to it.
After the afternoon classes are over, we meet at the school entrance and walk home together. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Wakana and Goto together recently. Maybe something happened? Not that it has anything to do with me.
As those enjoyable days continue and winter break approaches. On Christmas Eve, I have my first kiss with Otoe in her room…and we take the next step as well. She has experience before, but she guides me well. Next time, I’ll have to take the lead.
On Christmas Day, I have a Christmas dinner at a hotel with my parents. My mother becomes the centre of attention, but that’s inevitable given her job. It’s nothing new.
After that, the three of us go back to the apartment, and I take a bath before heading to my room. The rest of the evening is my parents’ time.
On New Year’s Day, I go to Hatsumode with Otoe. She is wearing a beautiful red kimono.
(TN: Hatsumode is the first shrine visit of the year.)
In the US, we don’t have this kind of tradition, and even during grade school, I couldn’t go during the first three days of the year because of my parents’ work. So this feels really new to me.
“Uwaa, as expected, it’s really crowded on New Year’s Day.”
Otoe is right, the line stretches over 50 meters just to the shrine’s torii gate. Before we can even enter the main grounds, there are multiple layers of lines.
“This is incredible. Is it always like this?”
“I think it’s only this crowded during the first three days of the year. But this shrine is quite famous.”
After finally entering the shrine grounds, I read the instructions on how to properly pray, then Otoe and I offer our prayers together.
After finishing our prayers, we both draw omikuji.
(TN: Omikuji are fortune slips that can be drawn in the shrine area after praying).
I get moderate luck, and Otoe also get moderate luck.
Then, Otoe smiles.
“Fufu, we’re always together, aren’t we?”
She seems really happy.
Of course, we did our winter break homework together at her house. I haven’t introduced her to my parents yet, but they somehow seem to know that I have a girlfriend.
My mom even told me the other day,
“I’d love to meet her soon.”
Otoe haven’t asked anything about my family, and I haven’t mentioned them to her either.
At first, I thought she’s an assertive and outspoken girl, but after spending time with her, I find that she’s actually very kind and not overly talkative.
When we’re together in quiet moments, she doesn’t feel the need to fill the silence with words. When she’s happy, she laughs whole heartedly with a bright, joyful smile.
She’s truly a wonderful person. I want to be with this girl forever.
