I Used to Be a Normal Guy, but in a War between Sorcerers, I Assaulted, Violated, and Seized the Enemy’s Heroine, and Now, as My Reward, I Get to Take Her over and Over - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: Appraisal Meeting ②
The appraisal meeting.
The Jutsushi Kyoukai’s supreme advisors, the Twenty-One Elders.
At present, they assessed existence value using those who had distinguished themselves as sorcerers as subjects.
Evaluations would be swayed by future sorcerer activity.
They gathered once a week to begin appraisals.
Tonight was a once-in-ten-years bumper crop.
It was the day to set values among the candidates who exceeded one hundred million.
“Well, well—good evening, everyone. It’s been a while.”
A dry voice rang out.
The Twenty-One Elders of the Jutsushi Kyoukai.
True to the name, most were elderly.
However, among them were young women and men as well.
Of the twelve present, it looked like six were old-timers.
“Then, shall we begin the sorcerer appraisal meeting?”
An old woman spoke.
Each took their seat.
They sipped the tea set on the table—an unhurried conference.
There were twelve participants.
Since they were a majority of the Twenty-One Elders, this appraisal was certified as official.
“There are currently seven candidates over a hundred million. Let’s decide their existence values.”
At the elder’s words, they began their deliberations.
“The Itoshimari family of the Ten Great Flow Kings, the Kougaen-ke, and the Three Great Houses’ Children of the Fallen God… we’ll set those aside for later. Let’s appraise the remaining four.”
“‘The Six-Coin Merchant.’ The Mukadera-ke’s eldest son who buys up the effects of sorcerer houses that were taken down and makes his living reselling them?”
“Those money-grubbing types who’d sell even the head’s seat if the price is right just went through a succession.”
“The one who took the throne as the new head is Mukadera Shakuren.”
“Oh? The head’s seat was an auction, wasn’t it? If I recall… the last update I saw was about seventy-four billion. How much did it finally go for?”
“Zero yen… every auction participant met a mysterious death, and when there were no bidders left, Mukadera Shakuren spoke up and bid. I hear the former head died of old age the moment he declared himself.”
“A conspiracy, then. So? What are we evaluating in this man?”
“Let’s set aside how he killed the auction’s bidders. Publicly, they all died of unknown causes. We can’t determine whether it was sorcerous principles or skill.”
“This man’s strength lies in his value as a merchant.”
“He sold weapons to both sides’ camps, abetted the escalation of war, and completed assassinations of key figures without getting his own hands dirty—commendable.”
A gold coin clinked onto the table.
Each gold coin was worth one hundred million.
“That clean-cut youth look is quite favorable, too. Thanks to him, sorcerer conflicts have become more active, accelerating the goal of sorcerer unification.”
One gold coin.
And five silver coins besides.
Each silver coin was worth ten million.
“Nonsense. Without showing minimum personal prowess and only drawing out others’ abilities, he can’t be called a hegemon of the age…”
Five red-copper coins.
Each of those was worth one million.
“Mm. Factoring that in, this man’s existence value is substantial. Depending on his future performance, he’ll exceed a billion.”
“Then, Mukadera Shakuren: ‘500,000,000.’”
In this way, existence values were set.
