“Yuuri, there’s a letter for you.”

It was the first day of summer vacation. As I was eating breakfast, my mother handed me a letter.

“Thanks.”

I took it and returned to my room. 

Is it from Airi? No, but our houses aren’t so far apart that we need to communicate by letter, and we both have smartphones.

“Who could it be?”

Well, reading it should give me the answer. 

I opened the envelope and read the handwritten letter inside.

“From Hikari?”

Come to think of it, I don’t have her number. 

We’re not connected on social media either. 

And I don’t recall giving her my address… 

She must have asked Airi. They seemed close the other day.

“To Yuuri-san,

Would you like to have lunch at my house tomorrow?”

There was an address at the bottom of the letter, presumably Hikari’s.

The house in front of me was so large, I wasn’t sure it could even be called just a ‘house’.

I was so surprised that I came full circle to being calm.

I pressed the intercom. 

Immediately, the door—or should I say gate?—opened, and Shinonome-san appeared.

“Yuuri-sama, please come in.”

She’s wearing a maid outfit. 

It’s quite something to see a classmate in a maid outfit. Well, I haven’t really talked to her much.

Following Shinonome-san, I arrived at a large room with a long, big table set with extravagant dishes.

“Yuuri-san, thank you for comingi.”

Hikari stood up from her seat and bowed slightly.

“Thanks for inviting me.”

“Not at all. Shall we eat then?”

“Yes.”

It was delicious. .

There were ingredients and dishes I had never eaten before, and it was fun.

Thanks, Hikari. The food was great, and it was fun talking after such a long time. Let’s hang out again sometime.”

“Yuuri-san? Why do you seem like you’re about to leave right now?”

“Eh? Oh, right, then let’s hang out.”

Leaving right after eating doesn’t sound fun. But what to do when hanging out with Hikari?

A movie? No, this house probably has its own theater. 

A game center? Is it okay to take a lady like her there?

“That sounds nice. But let’s change the location.” 

“Where?”

Hikari stood up from her seat. 

“…Ah, what? Someth…ing…”

Suddenly, my vision blurred. 

I felt unexpectedly sleepy.

I heard Hikari giving instructions to someone. 

But why? 

Why is Hikari smiling like that? 

At that moment, my consciousness faded.

It seems to be an oversight on my part.
