I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 41
Episode 41
Sora’s Perspective.
It’s been a week since Ryota and the others came to visit.
Since then, Mana hasn’t woken up even once.
During that time, Mana was in a constant state of sleep, and although the doctor says it’s evidence that her brain is still alive, I can’t help but worry. I explained the situation to my parents and got permission to take some time off school.
Will she still not wake up today?
The school festival starts today, and it seems like I might get scolded if I don’t go to school soon.
“Sora-kun.”
“Huh?”
I heard a voice.
A very familiar voice, one I haven’t heard recently.
“Mana?”
Mana opened her eyes.
“Good morning.”
She spoke with a husky, exhausted voice and looked very tired.
It was unexpected, and I couldn’t quite understand the situation, but I reflexively held Mana’s hand.
“Good morning, Mana.”
Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face, and my hand holding hers wouldn’t stop shaking.
“I had a dream. A dream from a long time ago. I thought I was abandoned because my parents were gone, but that wasn’t true.”
Mana smiled faintly.
“My parents didn’t abandon me, we just couldn’t meet anymore.”
And tears welled up in her eyes.
“I remembered everything. What happened to my parents. It was very painful, very difficult. If my parents aren’t coming back, what was I even trying so hard for?”
“That’s…!”
“But, in my dream, Sora-kun appeared and said, ‘I’ll be by your side.’ So, I’m okay now. I’ve been trying so hard for my parents to come back, but from now on, I’ve decided to try hard for you, Sora-kun. So, Sora-kun, can you… be by my side… forever?”
I hugged Mana tightly, conveying all my feelings, strong yet gentle.
“Yeah, of course. I’ll always be by your side. I’ll never leave. So, Mana, please don’t… leave me…”
Mana slowly hugged me back.
“Yes, I’ll always… stay by your side, Sora-kun.”
I kept crying. The anxiety dissipated, the person I was waiting for came back, and I couldn’t stop crying.
I cried more than I ever had in my life.
After a while, we pressed the nurse call button.
“Mana, your eyes are all red. Is it okay to meet people in that state?”
“Hehe, what about you, Sora-kun?”
“Are you okay, Tenshin-san?!”
A nurse rushed into the room.
“Ah, Mana woke up. Can you call the doctor?”
“I see, that’s good. Then please wait here.”
“Um, can I just go to the vending machine?”
“Yes, that’s fine. You’ll come back soon anyway. Then please.”
Saying that, the nurse left the room to call the doctor.
“Your throat must be dry. I’ll buy some drinks from the vending machine, so rest for a while, Mana.”
“Okay.”
Mana is still recovering, so water is better for her.
I bought two bottles of water from the vending machine and returned to the room.
When I opened the door, the doctor had already arrived and was talking to Mana.
“Ah, Sora-kun. Thank you for coming.”
“It’s okay. What were you talking to the doctor about?”
“Mana-san seems to want to leave the hospital as soon as possible, but I was telling her that she should stay here at least today and tomorrow.”
“But, if you check the date, the school festival has already started, right? She’s been working so hard, and she wouldn’t want to miss it…”
“Even if you say that…”
“In that case, doctor, how about letting her go out just during the day tomorrow? I understand what you’re saying, but I also want to participate in the school festival with Mana.”
“That might be okay if it’s just going out.”
“Thank you!”
Mana showed a joy that she rarely shows.
“Then I’ll go now. Since Mana-san has just woken up, she shouldn’t overdo it.”
The doctor quickly left the room.
“Did the atmosphere change a bit?”
“Do you think so?”
“Yeah. Mana always seemed quite mature, but now she seems more like a high school student.”
“That’s true… I used to think I had to keep being a model student, but now, I’ve let go of that idea.”
“I see. The current Mana is really cute and nice.”
“Hehe, Sora-kun is very cool too.”
It seems like Mana has truly let go.
Otherwise, there’s no way she’d casually call me cool.
“Then I’ll bring the uniform tomorrow morning. It’s already late today, so I should go home soon.”
“Is that so? Please come early.”
“I got it. Mana, don’t stay up late and go to sleep soon.”
“I wonder about that. I’m so excited that I might not be able to sleep.”
“Haha, then goodnight.”
“Yes, goodnight.”
I think I’ll be able to sleep soundly tonight for the first time in a while.
I couldn’t sleep because I was too worried about Mana recently.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to school. I’m looking forward to it a little.
