I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 36
Episode 36
It had been about two weeks since Ryota and Shimura-san came to our house to hang out, and the school was completely in festival mode.
Lately, the gaze from the guys towards me had decreased, and peace had returned to school life.
However, there was one problem, the preparation for our event wasn’t progressing.
Specifically, the menu for the takoyaki shop hasn’t been decided.
There’s a big debate between those who prefer traditional types of takoyaki and those who want to create original takoyaki with uniqueness.
“That’s why! There’s no way customers will come for such weird menu items! We should stabilize with safe menu options!”
Argues one of the menu planners, Miyu Yamada.
“No, no! If students just offer common menu items, they’ll just get buried among others! We should create more innovative menu items!”
Opposing Yamada-san, Yusuke Yamauichi, another menu planner.
Initially, these two menu planners got along well, but the debate escalated unnoticed.
Now, nobody can make a decision.
That’s when me and Mana, the two members of the executive committee, got dragged into it.
“Hey, calm down. Just arguing with each other won’t solve anything.”
“So, what do you suggest then?! I’m not changing my opinion!”
“Hmph! I’m not changing mine either!”
The discussion between the two has reached a stalemate like this.
“Well then, let’s do this. Each of you create the menu you’re thinking of and have someone taste it. We’ll adopt the menu that tastes better. We’ll decide based on whether the creative menu can surpass the existing one. How about that?”
“That sounds good. Your quirky takoyaki can’t possibly be delicious anyway!”
“Oh really?! Fine! I’ll make everyone say mine’s better!”
“Then let’s have the tasting in three days. Yusuke-kun, come up with your menu by then.”
So, for now, the debate between the two was settled.
“Thanks, Mana. I couldn’t have handled that situation or come up with a solution.”
“Hehe, Sora-kun, you were so flustered, it was kinda cute.”
Recently, Mana has been saying words like cute or cool to me without hesitation.
While I’m happy about it, it’s a bit embarrassing to be showered with words that I’ve hardly heard before.
“Uh, let’s forget about that. The school festival is coming soon.”
“Yeah, it’s only about a week away. It’s fun now, but I’m a bit worried because there will be exams right after it.”
“Ugh, don’t talk about exams already. We should forget about studying for now and have fun!”
“Even though you say that Sora-kun, haven’t you been spending more time reviewing lately?”
“Well, yeah, I guess I’m worried about the exams too. I’m planning to go to university on recommendation, so if my grades drop here, it’ll be a problem.”
“True. Sora-kun, you’re going to university, right?”
“Oh yeah, what about you, Mana?”
“Well, I’m still undecided…”
“I see. Well, just do what you want, Mana. If you don’t want to go anywhere, you can just become a housewife.”
I said it jokingly, but I really mean it.
Nobody at school knows Mana’s parents, so it’s fine for now, but Mana comes from a prestigious family.
If she goes out into society, she’ll eventually learn the truth about her parents.
If she can endure that, it’s good. But if she can’t and her heart breaks again…
Thinking about it, I want Mana to stay at home.
“Well, take your time to think about it. I’ll just support whatever you decide, Mana.”
“Thank you.”
Mana’s parents.
They were apparently involved in a plane accident five years ago, but Mana doesn’t remember it.
If Mana recalls it and suffers, it’s better for her to never remember.
“Sora-kun?”
“Oh, sorry. I was lost in thought. Well then, let’s go home for today.”
“Ah, wait a moment, Tenshin. I have something to tell you.”
The one who stopped me from behind was our homeroom teacher, Abe-chan.
“What is it?”
“It’s about your career path. Come to the staff room for a moment.”
“Well, your desired university’s designated recommendation… It was approved in the meeting just now. You can take the entrance exam for this university with the recommendation.”
“Really?!”
“Yeah. There were no other students who wished for it besides you. Your grades are excellent, and the meeting ended quickly.”
“I see. Then all I have to do is maintain my grades and do well in the interview.”
“Yeah, that’s right. I’ll help you practice anytime, so just ask whenever you want.”
“Got it! Well then, I’ll head home for today. Thank you.”
Alright.
I never expected to actually get the recommendation.
Since I became a third-year student, I’ve been hoping for the same university’s recommendation.
That university is very popular, so I never thought I’d be chosen, but to think there weren’t even any other applicants.
What a stroke of luck.
Now, I’ll go pick up Mana in the classroom and tell her about it.
