I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
“Ah! Tenshin is here!”
“Hey! And Wakai-san is him! So, the rumors were true?!”
The surrounding onlookers were incredibly noisy, but we ignored them and continued on our way to the classroom.
It seemed that the people around us lacked the courage to speak directly to me or Mana, as they never approached closer than a certain distance.
“Now, the question is how to get into the classroom.”
“Well, it’s almost time for the bell to ring, and there probably aren’t many people around.”
“No, that’s not necessarily the case, right? Mana is popular, you know. There might be people waiting in the classroom until the last minute. Like, for example, Ishii.”
Ishii, huh. The reason I decided to confess to Mana was because of that Ishii. He’s a really handsome guy and occupies a position similar to Mana but among the boys.
“Well, anyway, since Sora and Mana have decided not to hide their relationship anymore, you both should just boldly enter the classroom. If someone approaches you guys, you two can just tell them everything.”
While we were discussing this, we arrived in front of the classroom.
As expected, there were even people from different classes in the classroom, showing just how popular Mana was.
But we pushed through the crowd without caring and entered the classroom.
The one who approached us was indeed Ishii.
However, to my surprise, Ishii spoke to me.
“Hey, you. Is it true that you’re dating Wakai-san?”
The entire classroom fell silent at his question, and all eyes turned to me and Ishii.
“Yeah, not only are we dating, but we’re also married. Why do you ask?”
As I replied to Ishii, I showed him the ring on my left hand.
……
Ishii froze.
No, not just Ishii. Everyone in the classroom who heard my words froze.
“Huh?”
“Eh, Wakai-san and y-you are married? Hey, stop joking. We’re still in high school, right?”
“I’m telling you the truth, you should check with Mana. We both wear a pair of rings.”
“……You’re kidding, right? Wakai-san is a married woman? And with a guy like this? It can’t be! Why this guy and not me!”
At that moment, Mana spoke up.
“What did you just say?”
Oh no. This is bad, she’s in rage mode.
“Because isn’t it obvious? Why would you be dating, let alone marry, someone like that?”
“What exactly do you mean, ‘someone like that’? Are you judging Sora-kun by his appearance? Or his character? From my perspective, you seem to be inferior in both cases. What do you know about Sora-kun? I know a lot about him. He tries to change for my sake, takes me on trips and dates. He even bought this ring for me himself. What makes you think he’s inferior to you? Sure, you might have a slightly better appearance, but Sora-kun is much cooler! What do you have that’s better than him? Certainly, you might look a bit better on the outside. But Sora-kun is much more attractive! If you’re going to insult him any further, could you please stop?!”
Ishii didn’t say anything more, or rather, he couldn’t.
Overwhelmed by Mana’s fierce expression and momentum, he couldn’t even interject.
And it was the same for everyone else around.
Ishii is known as one of the most handsome guys in the school.
He must be thinking that if he can’t do anything, there’s nothing he can do even if he tries.
Now, what should I do about this atmosphere?
Then Ryota spoke up.
“Hey, how about we head back to our own classrooms now? This should be enough, right? Sora and Mana-san are really married, and there’s no room for anyone else to interfere. So, guys who had their eyes on Mana-san, give up already. Let’s disperse!”
Amazing.
With just those words from Ryota, everyone left.
But it seems Ishii still isn’t going to leave.
And why is he glaring at us like that?
“Hey, Ishii, you should go back now. Staring at Sora won’t accomplish anything.”
Saying that, Ryota forcibly pushed Ishii’s back.
Ishii obediently started walking.
And just before leaving the classroom, he turned back to us and spoke.
“I haven’t given up yet! Wakai-san! I’ll be back!”
Then he strode back into the classroom.
Although his parting words are a little worrying, it seems like things have calmed down for now.
“Manamin! You were so cool when you stood up to Ishii!”
“Hey, don’t cling to me like that.”
Shimura-san hugged Mana but got rejected.
“Sora, you did well too. You managed to speak up without flinching. You would’ve just stayed silent like before.”
“That’s true. But I didn’t feel scared today.”
“Yeah, you did great! Now, you don’t have to worry about other people’s gazes anymore.”
“Well, the stares from the other guys are still painful.”
“Well, there’s no guy who wouldn’t feel jealous when they hear that Mana-san is married. Ah, except for me, of course.”
“Well, you have a girlfriend. If you were jealous, I’d tell her right away.”
“Hey, isn’t that a foul?”
Ah, the space has suddenly become so peaceful.
Even so, Ryota seems to have helped me a lot.
“Hey Ryota, wanna grab some food today? I’ll treat you as a thank you.”
“Huh? What’s up with that all of a sudden? Well, if you’re treating, I won’t hold back.”
“Eh?! What’s this? I’m going too!”
“Huh? Why are you coming? It was me who was invited by Sora. Why would you come?”
“It’s fine, isn’t it? Plus, let’s bring Manamin along and make it a group of four!”
“Ugh, such a hassle. What do you think, Sora? This girl’s not easy to persuade.”
“Well, I guess it’s fine, right? If Mana’s okay with it, then it’s not a problem for me.”
“Yay! Manamin’s coming too, right? Or rather let’s go!”
It seems like Mana agreed after being invited by Shimura-san.
But watching those two, Mana seems somewhat compelled.
“By the way, aren’t you and Shimura-san getting pretty close?”
I asked Ryota the question I’d been feeling since earlier.
“Oh, it’s because my girlfriend is Sana.”
Huh?
“Wait, you and Shimura-san are dating?! Huh, is that so?!”
“Oh, I guess I forgot to mention it.”
“I never knew. I thought she was from another class or something.”
“Well, I do go to other classes quite often.”
“Oh, so Shimura-san is your girlfriend… Well, you two do suit each other.”
But still, it’s surprising.
I never would’ve guessed that Ryota’s girlfriend was in the same class.
“Hey hey, where are we going for food? If you haven’t decided, I have a place in mind!”
“Mmm, sure, why not. Where do you want to go?”
“That’s a secret until after school. See you later!”
With that, Shimura-san returned to her seat confidently.
And Mana had returned without me noticing.
“Your girlfriend is quite independent, huh?”
“Yeah, it’s kinda troublesome for me too. But that’s what makes her cute.”
“I don’t care about your quirks.”
“Huh? What quirks? I don’t have any.”
Then the bell rang.
“Take your seats.”
Our homeroom teacher entered the classroom, and Ryota reluctantly returned to his seat.
Phew, what a long morning.
The stares from around me still hurt, but they’ll eventually fade away.
Today’s just getting started, and it seems like it’s going to be a long day—we still need to decide on our performance for the school festival this afternoon.
