I tried to confess my feelings to the girl I like, but I got too excited and ended up proposing. Was her response OK?! ~ - Chapter 28
Episode 28
“I’m torn between these two, but Mana, which one is better?”
We’re currently here to choose a ring to give to Mana.
We have two candidates.
The first one is a ring prioritizing everyday use. It doesn’t have silver decorations like a wedding ring, but instead, you can engrave your favorite characters on it.
The second one isn’t entirely unsuitable for everyday use either. However, unlike the first one, it has a small diamond attached.
Although diamonds usually give the impression of being expensive, this one isn’t that big, so while it’s not exactly affordable, it’s priced just within reach.
Personally, I thought of going for the one with the diamond since it’s for a special occasion. But considering Mana’s frugality, I thought she might feel it unnecessary for me to go to such lengths for her.
That’s when the first ring came out, and I couldn’t decide which one to get.
“Ah, I see. By the way, what are the prices?”
“The ones with these stones on it are priced at 230,000 yen, while those without them are 80,000 yen.”
“Then I’ll go with this one.”
As she said that, Mana pointed to the first ring.
As I thought, she chose that one.
“But it’s for a special occasion, you know? I… well, if Mana thinks it’s okay.”
“Sora-kun, while receiving something special certainly makes me happy, what makes me happier is your feelings. The price and appearance are trivial things. Besides, I’d rather have us both wear matching rings than wear this alone. Clerk, can we get two of these rings?”
“It’s possible. We can also engrave the initials in the adjacent workshop, so if we have the right sizes in stock, we can give them to you right away.”
“It seems that. Or would you prefer not to have matching rings with me, Sora-kun?”
If she says something like that, there’s no way I’d refuse.
“Of course not. Thank you.”
“Hehe, that’s my line. You’ve been thinking about it for my sake. Sora-kun, you’re my proud husband.”
“Yeah. I’m really glad that you married me, Mana.”
“Enough of your lovey-dovey stuff, you two. Shall we measure your ring sizes?”
Oh no, I forgot we’re outside.
Judging from Mana’s expression, it seems she did too.
“U-um, sorry… for…”
“Hehe, no worries. It’s a common thing.”
Then we got our sizes measured and waited for the clerk to check the stock.
The clerk returned promptly and informed us that they have the rings in stock.
“Now, about the engraving on these rings, have you decided?”
Come to think of it, I hadn’t thought about it at all. Both of us were filled with embarrassment from earlier, while waiting for the clerk.
“Well… Mana, what do you want?”
I have no sense for this kind of thing. It’s probably better to leave it to Mana.
“How about just our initials? It’s safe, and even though the one without the stone is simpler, it’s still quite elaborate in design.”
“Then let’s go with that.”
And so, we decided on the engraving for the rings and finished the transaction.
“As this process requires precision, it’ll take about two hours, and then we’ll hand them over.”
“Understood.”
“Now, there’s still time until the screening. What will you do?”
“Oh… let me check.”
Checking the time, it’s about 2:30 in the afternoon. There’s still about an hour and a half until the screening.
Then, my phone rang.
“Huh? Who’s this?”
As I checked the screen, it was Ryota.
“Sorry, it’s a call from Ryota. Is it okay if I take it?”
“You don’t need to confirm with me. Besides, he’s your friend, so you should answer quickly.”
Pushed by her urging, I answered Ryota’s call.
“Hello?”
“Ah, hello. Are you free now? Since school ended early, wanna hang out somewhere?”
“Ah, sorry. Today’s not possible. I’m out with Mana in the city.”
“For real? Too bad. I thought of inviting you since everyone in the class is going to karaoke. Actually, the girls around me told me to invite you guys.”
“If that’s the case, count me out either way.”
“Ahaha, yeah, figured as much. Well, anyway, be careful since we’re heading to the same place as you guys.”
“Got it. Is that all you needed? I’m keeping Mana waiting, so I’ll hang up now.”
“Oh, wait a second. I have one report to make. You know there’s a school festival next month, right? Well, you and Mana-san were selected as members of the executive committee. Or rather, you guys were basically pushed into it.”
“Ha?”
“Well, I tried to stop them, you know. But it ended up being blamed on the one who took the day off today, and there was nothing I could do about it. I seriously feel bad about this! Anyway, I’ll hang up now. See you later!”
“Hey, wait!… Damn, he hung up.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Oh, it seems we’ve been assigned as members of the executive committee for the school festival next month just because we skipped school today.”
That’s the worst.
I’m not good with being in front of people.
And to force Mana into it, too.
“Isn’t that alright?”
“Huh?”
“Although being forced into it isn’t pleasant, this could be an opportunity for us to have conversations at school. After all, it’s not necessary for us to avoid being seen together anymore.”
That’s true.
We’ve been avoiding being together in front of others to keep our relationship a secret, but now we won’t have to worry about that anymore.
“Now that you mention it, it’s not bad at all. But well, let’s forget about that for now and have fun!”
“Hehe, you’re right. I want to go to the game center.”
“Then let’s go. We still have time, so let’s play as much as we want.”
And so, we headed to the nearby game center.
