Chapter 48

“Didn’t I say there wouldn’t be a next time?”  

Masuda, who had his arms crossed on the other side of the desk, said.  

The fluorescent lights in the student guidance room were glaring brightly. Outside the window, it had already grown dark.  

“Thanks to you, I’ve had to stay late and do some overtime, you know? Cut me some slack.”  

“Masuda-sensei, I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk about overtime in front of the students.”  

The homeroom teacher, Tanami (28, single, big-breasted), who was sitting next to him, spoke up. Even though she was young, she had the qualities of a public servant when it came to making statements like that.  

The teachers were all in a bad mood, probably because of the cleanup and the questioning of the culprits, which was taking longer than expected. I decided I should try to lighten the mood.  

“Ha! You’re getting yelled at!”  

“Shut up, brat. This isn’t the time to joke around. You have no idea what the consequences of this might be.”  

“I respect you, Sensei. I also love this school.”

“So what?”  

“Well, in that case, how about showing your tendency to cover things up and make it go away?”  

“Are you an idiot? There’s no cover-up, nothing to hide, you just went and sprayed fire extinguisher foam all over the place again…”  

I’d caused quite a scene this time, but I thought it wouldn’t turn into a big deal.  

Or rather, I wanted to say that, but it seemed like things were still up in the air.  

If it was just the fire extinguisher, it wouldn’t be too serious, but if we trace it back, the situation isn’t looking so great.  

“Everyone’s saying different things. Can’t anyone get their story straight? Rascals…”  

A teacher’s curse word. He must’ve been really mad— workload was piling up.  

If a young female teacher heard something like that from a colleague, she’d probably be terrified.  

“Masuda-sensei.”

But instead of looking scared, Tanami-sansei exerted some pressure and shut him up.  

Apparently, someone had ratted out what happened at the ring. Seriously, the kids these days have no guts. They always run to the teachers the moment something happens.  

I was probably considered the biggest threat, so I was the only one isolated.  

To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about the aftermath. I acted on impulse. But if I thought about risks and cost-benefit analysis, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything.  

Just because I defeated monsters doesn’t mean the king will reward me. I don’t know if anyone was saved or helped by my actions. Sumahiko, who had been beaten up, was unusually hyped up about it.  

I turned to Masuda, who seemed happy getting yelled at by the younger teacher.  

“Well, I guess we can say I accidentally sprayed the fire extinguisher… but I heard that Kaneko-senpai, whom you were worried about, got beaten up unfairly in the ring… Is bullying a thing at this school? Isn’t that kind of serious?”  

“Well, Kaneko said he was just a trial member, and that it was just a friendly sparring match…”  

“Wait, you believe that? One of my classmates, Katsura, has a video of it.”  

“Well, about that, we’ll talk more when we get the details…”  

“I was just trying to stop the bullying. Can I get a reward for that?”  

“Then why’d you spray the fire extinguisher?”  

“Well, that was a necessary expense. Which is more important, the fire extinguisher or a life?”  

Masuda fell silent.  

Wait, did I just win this argument? Am I really getting away with this?  

Just as I was debating whether to declare victory, Tanami-sensei stood up and smacked me on the head with a binder. Harder than I expected.  

“I heard you provoked them, saying ‘I’m the strongest, I’ll take everyone down, bring it on,’ and laughing as you threw the first punch.”  

Who the hell said that? They must be out of their mind. It’s terrifying.  

“Well, you know, as a guy, I just want to be the strongest.”  

“Honestly, you were half-assing the fight. If you’re going to do it, make sure they can never defy you again.”  

Masuda widened his eyes and gave Tanami a double-take.  

She was like a delinquent. Like a half-assed yankee. She was finally showing her true colors. Getting scared, I decided to apologize properly.  

I stood up from my chair, straightened my back, and bowed my head.  

“I’m really sorry for the trouble I caused.”  

“Mm, but you did a good job. Anyone doing that stupid bullying thing, just beat them up and spray them with a fire extinguisher.”  

Tanami patted me on the head. She suddenly became kind. She knew skillfully uses the stick and carrot approach. A true professional at work.  

Masuda, who had been silently watching, frowned.  

“Tanami-sensei, isn’t that a bit…”  

“Is there a problem with that?”  

Tanami smiled and turned toward him, and Masuda fell silent. I immediately jumped in to keep the momentum going.  

“Well, it’s just a kid’s fight. No need for adults to be so serious about it.”  

“What? So now you’re acting like a kid only when it suits you? You, later, help me set up the dominoes.”  

“I didn’t knock them over.”  

“You practically did.”  

Luckily, the dominoes were only just being set up, so it wasn’t too late. If it had been later, it might’ve been a problem. I’d make the two gorillas who were the culprits set them up instead. It might teach them something.  

Tanami suddenly remembered something.  

“By the way, what about your class project preparation?”  

“Well, I’ve been left out. No one gave me any roles.”  

“Sigh… This is why. I asked some of the girls in your class about you, and they said you’re hard to approach.”  

“What do you mean, hard to approach?”  

“You really need to get a girlfriend. That’s the only way you’ll change.”  

“No, Tanami-sensei, that’s not what I meant…”  

“That’s exactly what it is.”  

Before I could respond, Masuda cut in, but Tanami said it firmly. I also fought back with the same force.  

Just then, the door to the room was knocked on. Masuda replied irritably, “Yeah.”  

“Knight-kun!”  

The door burst open with a shrill voice. It was Yuki.  

Masuda, flinching, looked at her, but Yuki didn’t pay him any attention and ran around the table to rush straight at me.

“Ah, sorry, I didn’t realize it was busy…”

Another person entered right after. Miki bent down and slowly closed the door behind her.

Seeing the two of them, Tanabe let out a surprised sound.

“Well, this is rare. The Tachibana sisters together.”

“Ah, yeah, they came to me just now. They said they had something to talk about, so I was about to listen when this whole commotion happened.”

Masuda replied. Apparently, the two of them went to Masuda’s place together.

Masuda shifted his gaze to Yuki and Miki and asked, “By the way, what were you talking about?”

“Oh, it’s fine now!” Yuki quickly interrupted Masuda. She came over to me and tried to sneakily grab my hand, but I swatted her hand away.

Miki, ignoring Masuda, came closer to me and stopped right by my side, gazing at me.

“Well, Yuki contacted me and… she wanted to go talk to the teacher together.”

So that’s why they went to Masuda’s office. After parting ways with me, it seems Yuki had been working on things. Miki must not have been there because she met up with Yuki and headed to the staff room.

“Yuki, you…”

“Yeah. Yuki-chan is such a good girl, right? Did you fall for me again?”

It seems like I didn’t have to intervene. Yuki, in her own way, had been looking out for Miki.

However, since I ended up making that “we’re together” declaration, all the blame seems like it’s going to fall on me from now on. For now, I decided to stay quiet.

Unaware of all that, Miki stepped even closer.

“Hoshi-kun, you really… came to help me, didn’t you?”

“Ah, no, no. That’s a misunderstanding.”

“It’s not a misunderstanding, right? You always say things to push me away like that…”

Yuki firmly denied it on my behalf, stepping between us.

“Knight-kun wasn’t helping Miki, he was trying to help me, the one who might’ve been in Miki’s place. In other words, he helped the parallel-world me.”

Masuda burst out laughing. Tanami-sensei widened her eyes in surprise.

Yuki’s invincible. I’m definitely following her lead. I pushed the chair under the desk and said,

“Well then, Masuda-sensei, I’m going to head out. I leave the cleanup to you. I’m going to have a threesome soon.”

“You’re getting expelled, you hear me? No, I’ll make sure you get expelled myself.”

“No, no expulsion!”

Miki slapped the table with a sharp voice.

Masuda, startled, leaned back slightly. He looked as if he had seen something terrifying. Miki cleared her throat, then bowed respectfully.

The grade supervisor suddenly became hesitant. He seems weak to the school’s Madonna.

Yuki cut in without losing to Miki.

Masuda silently looked at me. I glanced at Tanami-sensei, pretending I didn’t notice.

“Tachibana-san, why, of all things, this… maybe you should stop.”

After telling me to get a girlfriend, here she is with a classic double standard.

But I do think “maybe you should stop” is probably the right call.

The slightly older man, who had been pressured, decided to take a low tone and try to set things straight.

“And another thing, I can’t overlook what you said earlier. Take a look at the student handbook. It says no inappropriate relations are allowed. If someone like him gets away with this, who knows what he’ll do next?”

“It’s okay, if anything happens, we have handcuffs.”

“Yeah, yeah, just don’t do anything dangerous.”

Masuda was speechless. I was speechless too.

Meanwhile, Tanami turned to me with a grin.

“Wow, this looks fun. I’d like to join in too~.”

A real-life queen is joining in. Is she coming out now?

She definitely has a whip at home. She probably has the whole set.

“Tanabe-sensei, jokes like that…”

“How about a home visit for the problem student next time? It looks like he’s living alone like a grown-up.”

“What? You’re living alone? I never heard of that. You’re basically doing whatever you want. Don’t mess with me.”

Tanami suddenly became serious. Masuda, for some reason, started getting angry. Is it jealousy?

“Looks like I might need to stay and supervise for a while. I’ll do it.”

“Knight-kun needs healing, so I’ll have to pamper him. I’ll do it.”

The twins’ unsettling conversation echoed through the room.

“Listen, don’t let him have it all at once. He’ll start looking down on you. You have to tease him and tame him.”

“I see, so you mean edging…”

“As expected of Sensei, I’m learning a lot.”

The conversation grew even more dangerous.

At that point, Masuda’s furious voice joined in, and the room grew chaotic.

Amidst the noisy argument, I pretended not to hear anything and moved to the window.

I opened it a little and stuck my head out. The night breeze brushed against my flushed cheek. The lights on the ground had gone off, and it was dim outside.

Looking for some light, I gazed up at the sky. The sky was covered with thin clouds. Among the clouds, I spotted one bright star shining.

I didn’t know what star it was or where it came from, but at this point, I didn’t really care.

After the strongest knight saves the princess, it’s time for the harem fun.
