I Thought I Was Dead After Getting Stabbed While Protecting a Girl From a Random Attacker, but a Goddess Gave Me a Special Reward and Brought Me Back to Life in My Original Body—Now, All These Girls Are Coming on to Me!? - Chapter 3.2: Reuniting With the Girls I Saved
Chapter 3.2: Reuniting With the Girls I Saved
As I thought about these random things, Hiragi suddenly raised her voice.
“Then, since we’re the same age, let’s… let’s… drop the formalities and talk casually!?” she proposed.
“That’s… good. This meeting is fate,” Sumeragi agreed.
“If you’re both okay with it, I’m fine… but,” I said.
“Then let’s do it! That’s perfect!” Hiragi cheered.
Wow, Hiragi was intense. Her approach to closing the distance was unreal. Was this what people called a “social butterfly”? Sumeragi spoke less, but her tone felt a notch brighter than before.
“Where are you going to high school, Minase-kun?” Hiragi asked.
“Phoenix High School,” I answered.
The high school I would attend was called Phoenix High School.
It was a recently established school with the slogan “freedom and competition.”
Its biggest feature was that no school rules existed.
As the slogan suggested, studying, clubs, and fun were left to students’ autonomy.
In exchange, poor grades or any misbehavior led to merciless suspensions or expulsions. Rumor had it a student got suspended for breaking a single window.
“What!? Phoenix!? That’s the same as us!” Hiragi exclaimed.
“This is practically fate,” Sumeragi declared.
“Haha…” I laughed.
These two were something else.
Hiragi’s straightforward approach didn’t bother me because it matched her personality, but Sumeragi’s deadpan face paired with extreme statements caught me off guard.
Her bold comments from a blank expression threw me for a loop.
But both were pretty fun people. I felt like we could get along.
“Hey, since we’re going to the same school, wanna exchange contacts? We might end up in the same class, so why not now?” I suggested.
“Really!? Yes, let’s do it, right now, come on!” Hiragi urged.
“That’s some enthusiasm,” I remarked.
Hiragi closed in with incredible intensity.
Since I was lying in bed, I couldn’t back away any further.
From the other side, Sumeragi silently pressured me by holding out her phone.
And so, we exchanged friend IDs on the SNS app called “LIIN.”
My friends list now included:
– KOTOKOTO
– Kanade
They were added. I hadn’t enrolled yet, but these two were my first high school friends. That felt kind of profound!
“Looking forward to getting along, both of you,” I said.
“Same here!” Hiragi replied.
“Forever and always,” Sumeragi added.
Your words carry weight, Sumeragi…
We chatted leisurely for a while, enjoying ourselves.
But one comment from Hiragi plunged me into despair.
“By the way, Minase-kun, can you make it to the entrance ceremony?” she asked.
…Huh? The entrance ceremony… when was that?
“It’s next week, but will you be discharged in time?” Sumeragi asked.
“Oh…” I groaned.
Was there a chance I wouldn’t be discharged by the entrance ceremony?
No time to waste—I pressed the nurse call button.
I asked the nurse who arrived to check my discharge schedule with my doctor, and she said she’d confirm right away.
“If I miss the entrance ceremony, by the time I get to school, friend groups will already be formed, and I’ll be a loner for high school…” I muttered.
“No way! You’ve got us!” Hiragi protested.
“If needed, I can stick to Minase-kun 24/7,” Sumeragi offered.
“That’s not how it works… and we don’t even know if we’ll be in the same class,” I said.
Ugh, what should I do?
Worst case, I didn’t know how rehab would go, but maybe I’d have to sneak out of the hospital for that day…
As I agonized, the doctor entered the room.
“Well… I’d love to let you attend the entrance ceremony, but given the depth of your wound, I can’t permit you to go out so soon next week…” he said.
“Yeah, I figured…” I sighed.
This was bad… really bad…
I didn’t think I was socially awkward, but I wasn’t the type to actively connect with people either.
Missing the start of high school life at the entrance ceremony… the thought made me anxious.
“Hey, Minase-kun,” Hiragi said.
“What, Hiragi?” I replied.
“I want to thank you properly,” she said.
What brought this up, Hiragi? We settled the thanks thing already…
“You’re worried about missing the entrance ceremony and not fitting in with friends, right?” she asked.
“Well, bluntly, yeah…” I admitted.
“Then, why don’t we go to school together?” she suggested.
“Huh?” I blinked.
“We’ll make friends at the entrance ceremony, obviously. When you’re ready to return, we’ll go to school with you. Then, we’ll introduce you to everyone!” she explained.
“That’s good. It’ll help Minase-kun bond naturally. I’ll go too,” Sumeragi added.
Wow, both of them were thinking that far ahead for me, someone they just met? They were so kind…
“I’ll talk to lots of people in case we’re in different classes!” Hiragi promised.
“Me too. I’ll do my best for Minase-kun,” Sumeragi vowed.
“Your kindness really hits me hard…” I said.
Their heartfelt consideration made my eyes well up.
“W-What’s wrong!? Does your stomach hurt!?” Hiragi panicked.
“This isn’t enough thanks for our lifesaver. We want you to rely on us more,” Sumeragi said.
I couldn’t keep whining about school anxiety when these girls were saying stuff like that.
If they were offering to help, I’d seize the chance to make tons of friends!
“You two, I know it’s pathetic, but can I count on your help?” I asked.
“Of course!” Hiragi beamed.
“Leave it to us,” Sumeragi assured.
They gave me bright, carefree smiles.
The way my heart skipped a beat at those smiles was my little secret.
