- Chapter 29-30: The Second Date (Part 5&6)
Da da da da da da.
“Customer, I think this hat would look wonderful on you.”
“Customer, this is a cardigan that just arrived last week.”
“Customer, please try on these pumps that are very popular right now.”
“Since we’re at it, it would be nice to try this shoulder bag as well.”
The other staff members who had confirmed the female staff member’s signal quickly gathered products from the displays and assembled in front of the fitting room. They then proceeded to recommend the items they were holding to Yoriko one after another.
“K-Kaneda-kun. W-what should I do?”
“I’d like to see Tsukimizato-san looking beautiful.”
In response to the troubled Yoriko, Jin wanted to see Yoriko looking beautiful all dressed up, so he expressed his honest feelings in words.
“We got the boyfriend’s commitment, let’s press our advantage all at once!”
“Yeah!”
“Eh, what?!”
The fitting room at this department store had a spacious layout, and after hearing Jin’s words, the staff members pushed Yoriko into the fitting room and then entered themselves, still holding their recommended products.
“H-how does it look?”
“It looks really good on you.”
With products selected by sales professionals, Yoriko had transformed into an elegant and beautiful woman after changing clothes. Seeing her appearance, Jin felt it suited her very well.
“How do you find it, customer?”
“It’s nice. I can tell these were chosen by professionals.”
“We’re honored. All the staff members are very pleased that you like it.”
The female staff member rubbed her hands together while asking Jin for his opinion on the products the staff had selected.
“For payment, in addition to cash, you can use various cashless payment methods or our department store’s credit options. You can make your girlfriend happy with just small monthly payments. How about it?”
The female staff member spoke to Jin in a way that Yoriko couldn’t hear. Jin couldn’t enter into credit-related contracts due to his age, but she seemed to have approached him thinking he met the requirements based on his mature appearance.
“I’m still a student, so I can’t enter into credit-related contracts, but would cash payment be okay?”
“Huh? You’re still a minor? Um, are you really okay with cash payment?”
When Jin honestly told her that he couldn’t enter into credit-related contracts, the female staff member looked surprised. When Jin expressed his intention to purchase, that female staff member was even more surprised and cautiously confirmed whether he really intended to buy.
“Yes. Um, is it possible for her to wear these now?”
“Of course. Once payment is completed, we’ll make minor size adjustments and remove the tags.”
When Jin asked the female staff member whether Yoriko could leave wearing the purchased items, the female staff member said it would be possible after checkout and sent a signal to the other staff members. The other staff members then positioned themselves naturally in spots where Yoriko couldn’t see Jin’s exchange with the female staff member.
“It seemed like your girlfriend would be hesitant if she heard the amount, so I took the liberty of blocking her view.”
“Sorry for the trouble.”
“Not at all, meeting customer needs is part of a staff member’s job. Now, for the payment, it comes to 385,000 yen including tax.”
“Please wait a moment. 1, 2, 3… 38, 39. Here you go.”
“Let me confirm… yes, 390,000 yen received, and here’s your change of 5,000 yen. Thank you very much.”
After Jin completed the payment, the female staff member again sent a signal to the other staff members.
“Now, please return to the fitting room for a moment.”
The staff members who received the signal returned Yoriko to the fitting room and once again filed in after her in a group.
“Customer, please don’t move for a little while.”
“Huh? Y-yes.”
When Yoriko entered the changing room, several staff members followed her in. When one of them told her not to move, she became anxious about what they were going to do and froze up.
Snip Snip.
Before she knew it, the staff member closest to Yoriko was holding scissors in one hand and began removing the tags that showed product names, sizes, prices, and anti-theft measures from the clothing and accessories Yoriko was wearing.
“How’s the adjustment coming along?”
“Yes, it’s almost complete.”
While the tag removal was happening, other staff members checked that there were no issues with the clothes Yoriko was wearing and adjusted her appearance by fixing the belts on her bag and hat.
“Tag removal is finished.”
“Adjustments are complete.”
“No issues found.”
While Yoriko remained frozen, the staff members performed their tasks with practiced movements and reported to the supervising staff member that their work was finished.
“Customer, these are the clothes you were wearing. We took the liberty of putting them in our store’s paper bag for your convenience.”
(Huh? Huh? The tags have been removed too, what does this mean?)
When another staff member handed her a paper bag containing the clothes she had been wearing, Yoriko’s thoughts came to a complete stop.
“Customer, your companion is waiting for you. Thank you very much for your purchase today.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Huh? Purchase?”
Before she knew it, Yoriko was standing in front of the fitting room, receiving deep bows from all the staff members who had assisted her. Only then did she realize that Jin had purchased everything she was wearing.
“Tsukimizato-san. As I said before, it looks really great on you.”
“Oh, thank you.”
(Wait, wait, wait, the dress alone had a price tag of 66,000 yen, so how much did everything cost in total?!)
Yoriko was shocked by the price of the first dress she had seen and had been too scared to look at the price tags on the other items the staff members had brought. Since Jin hadn’t purchased just one item this time, she became frightened just thinking about what the total might have been.
“This is a present from me, do you like it?”
“Is this really okay?”
“It’s fine. Hmm, I thought you’d be happier, but didn’t you like it?”
“N-n-n-no, that’s not it at all. I’m really happy.”
Since she had been casually given clothes and accessories that were beyond her financial reach, Yoriko’s thoughts had frozen, but no woman would fail to be happy about receiving expensive gifts from a man she was interested in. As Yoriko gradually regained her composure, joy as a woman began to well up inside her.
“Kaneda-kun, I’ll gratefully accept this, but don’t push yourself too hard for my sake next time.”
“I understand. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
Jin, who had made substantial profits from stocks, didn’t find this level of spending burdensome, but since Yoriko was making this request with a serious expression, he vowed in his heart to inform her beforehand about purchases in the future.

2700 bucks spent….come on my guy. Thats just silly, its beyond silly. No one in your every day life will notice or care about clothes of that “quality”
I mean… He’s a kid with a LOT of money and very little experience. He’s gonna be a bit reckless with his money to let his date have a good time, ya know?
Not to mention his parents aren’t around to scold him for being financially irresponsible.
