- Chapter 1-2: It Was A Coincidence
My name was Kaneda Jin. I was a high school student. Today, like any other day, I was sitting through a boring class. At the podium, the math teacher was writing incomprehensible numbers and symbols on the blackboard. Not to brag, but my grades in many subjects were barely above failing, and my parents had told me countless times to study harder. Because of this, I’d been completely left behind in class.
(It’s nice that I can zone out during class without the teacher noticing when I’m sitting in this seat.)
My seat was at the very back by the window. Thanks to this, I was the farthest from the teacher, so as long as I didn’t make noise during class, I rarely got called on.
(Hm? What’s wrong with Tsukimizato-san?)
When I happened to look forward, Tsukimizato Otowa, who sat in front of me, was fidgeting and moving her body uncomfortably. Rather than paying attention to the boring lesson, I found myself observing her strange movements.
“Ahh, uuugh…”
Otowa let out a small voice as if she was enduring something. Looking around, everyone else seemed to be seriously focused on the lesson, and no one appeared to notice her strange movements and sounds.
“No, it’s coming out, it’s going to come out…”
Otowa’s voice gradually changed into something more sensual, and I almost started having impure thoughts about her.
Poof.
“Hauu!”
My impure thoughts were completely wiped away by a certain sound. Yes, she had just passed gas. Otowa let out an embarrassed cry and stopped fidgeting. Then she looked around nervously, apparently checking if anyone had heard the sound.
(So girls fart too…)
I was somewhat shocked. Other than my mother, this was the first time I’d heard a female fart, and I learned the reality that even young women produced such sounds.
“Hm?”
When I looked up, I found Otowa looking at me. Unable to withstand her gaze, I instinctively looked away. Seeing this, her face turned bright red.
“Tsukimizato, the blackboard is in the other direction.”
“S-sorry!”
If Otowa was looking at me, it meant she was facing backward. The math teacher noticed her posture and called her out by name. She hurriedly turned to face the front.
“Kaneda-kun, do you have a moment?”
When the boring class ended and break time began, Otowa came over to talk to me.
“W-what is it?”
I didn’t have much experience talking with girls, so I became tense without meaning to.
“There’s something I want to talk about, can you come with me?”
“S-sure.”
I could somewhat guess what she wanted to talk about, but to avoid drawing attention from others, I waited a bit after she left the classroom before leaving my seat.
Chapter 2: Weakness Discovered
“I’ll ask you directly, you heard a sound during class, didn’t you?”
“W-what are you talking about?”
I had been called by Otowa and came to the back of the school building. When a boy and girl came to this place, one might imagine a confession scene, but reality wasn’t so sweet. She approached me demandingly, asking about the sound I had accidentally heard during class.
“Don’t play dumb! You heard it, didn’t you? My, um, f-fart sound.”
“I did hear it. But I only heard it by accident, so I didn’t do anything wrong, did I?”
“Forget it.”
“Huh?”
When I confirmed that I had heard Otowa’s fart, she told me in a strong tone to forget it. When I glanced at her, she had a complex expression that I couldn’t tell was from embarrassment or anger.
Thanks to the relatively relaxed school rules, many female students at my school adorned themselves with makeup and accessories, and even regarding hair color, they weren’t reprimanded by teachers as long as it wasn’t too flashy.
In such an environment, Otowa stood out for not adorning herself at all, with black hair and no makeup, making her an inconspicuous presence in class.
Though I hadn’t paid much attention before, looking closely at her face now, I could see she had well-balanced features with long hair, and while her chest was small, she had a slender figure with long, graceful legs. Overall, I felt she could be considered beautiful.
“I’m telling you to forget it.”
“Even if you say that, I can’t forget that sound and smell. I was thinking it must have been curry or stew last night, like onions…”
“Nooo! Don’t say anymore. You even smelled it? You pervert!”
Otowa hastily interrupted what I was about to say. Learning that not only had I heard the sound but also smelled the odor, she blushed deeply in embarrassment.
“Ugh, this is so embarrassing. Please forget it. I’ll do whatever you say.”
“Eh?”
I was surprised by Otowa’s words. It was a line often used by female characters in anime and manga when they fell into difficult situations, but it was the first time I had heard such words from a woman standing before me. That said, I was a loner with no friends of either gender, so I only ever talked with my parents regularly and wasn’t sure if this was a phrase commonly used in daily life.
“W-when I said ‘whatever’, I meant within reason, okay?”
Sensing something unsettling, Otowa hastily added this to protect herself.
(If it’s within reason, I guess things like that and this are off-limits.)
Throughout my school life, I hadn’t been particularly interested in her, but when told “whatever”, as a man, I couldn’t help imagining sexual things. However, she had preemptively cut off the desires of a virgin male whose years without a girlfriend equaled his age.
(Well… oh, how about this?)
“Have you decided?”
“Yes, I have.”
I had no desire to date Otowa, but out of curiosity, I decided what to ask for.
“I want you to go on a date with me.”
“A d-date?”
“It’s fine if you can’t…”
Since I just came up with it on the spot, I would have been fine with whatever she answered. The original issue was just to pretend her fart had never happened, so I had nothing to lose.
“(I can’t afford something expensive like a date…) Oh, I know. It’s fine if you pay for everything.”
“Why do I have to pay for everything?”
“If you don’t like that, make another request.”
“F-fine. I agree to those terms.”
Though it felt like I was being taken advantage of, I succumbed to the temptation of experiencing the unknown event of dating a girl, and made a promise to go on a date with her.

Ok, sure.
