I Started a VTuber Agency in Another World, and All the Dropout Saintesses Started Selling Their Services to Me!? - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Cleaning with the Dropout Saint
“Did you sleep well?”
“Hyau!”
The next morning when I come out of my room, Luna is sitting at the table in the living room.
She must not have expected me to talk to her so suddenly. Her shoulders jump, and the spoon in her hand clinks.
“S-sorry…!”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“Eh…”
Luna looks surprised for a second, then her eyes start darting around nervously.
“I-I… used the living room without asking…”
“Think of it as your own house and use it however you want.”
“My own… house…”
She repeats the words quietly, like they’re some foreign language she’s never heard before.
“…!”
The next moment.
Luna’s eyes go soft and relaxed.
…Man, this girl’s tear ducts are really loose, huh?
“So, did you actually sleep okay?”
“Y-yes!”
Luna nods quickly.
“For the first time in a while… I slept really peacefully…”
“That’s good then.”
While I say that, I walk over to the table.
A sweet smell drifts over.
“…Huh?”
On the table there’s a simple breakfast laid out.
Toasted bread.
Fried eggs.
Soup.
And some bacon that’s a little burnt.
“Did you make this, Luna?”
“Ahh…!”
Luna shrinks her shoulders, looking embarrassed.
“W-well… since I’m staying here, I thought at least I could make breakfast…”
“Wow, not bad at all.”
“B-but I burnt it a little…!”
“It’s more than enough for your first try.”
“…♡”
Luna’s cheeks turn bright red in a flash.
She probably isn’t used to compliments. That one probably took a big chunk out of her HP.
“Still, this house really is kinda bare, huh.”
Having a cute girl like Luna here makes the place feel extra dusty.
That’s what I muttered, but it seems to hit Luna the wrong way.
“…!”
For some reason her shoulders twitch.
“Eh…”
Her light blue eyes nervously look around the room.
The old walls.
The bare minimum furniture.
Streaming gear piled in the corner.
And the dust that’s just sitting there.
“S-sorry…!”
“Huh?”
“I made it look even dirtier by coming here…!”
“Why would you think that!?”
Her brain is way too negative.
“That’s not it. I just meant that because you’re so cute, the difference with this house feels huge.”
“C-cute…!?”
Luna’s face turns completely red in an instant.
A few seconds later.
She shrinks in on herself so much it feels like you could hear a pshuuu sound.
…This girl has zero resistance to compliments, doesn’t she?
“B-but… yeah, it is pretty dusty.”
Luna gently runs her finger across the table.
A thin layer of white dust sticks to her fingertip.
Seeing that, she looks up at me hesitantly and says,
“Um… if you want, should I clean…?”
“Clean?”
“Y-yes. It’s such a big house… if we make it nicer, I’m sure it’ll feel like a wonderful home.”
Luna smiles softly.
That smile doesn’t belong to the girl who had nowhere to go yesterday.
It looks like she wants to make this house her own place.
“…Yeah, you’re right.”
I smile a little.
“Then let’s do a big cleanup of the office today.”
“Y-yes♡”
Luna’s face lights up.
…She’s really easy to read.
“But do we even have cleaning stuff?”
“There should be some in the storage room. The previous owner left it behind.”
“I-I’ll go get it then!”
Luna stands up—
“Ah.”
The next moment.
She steps on the hem of her long skirt and loses her balance.
“Whoa!?”
“Kyau!?”
I reach out in a panic.
And then.
Thump.
Luna’s small body falls right into my chest.
“……”
“……”
So close.
Way too close.
A sweet scent drifts up from her silver hair and my brain almost stops working.
“Ah… uh…”
Luna seems to realize the situation too.
Her ears turn redder and redder.
“S-sorry…!”
“A-are you okay!?”
“I-I’m fine…!”
Even while she says that.
Luna is still gripping my clothes tightly.
“……”
“……”
“Let’s just get to cleaning, yeah.”
“Y-yes.”
Something feels off.
I can’t look straight at Luna’s face.
I wonder why.
Anyway, we grab brooms and rags from the storage room and start cleaning the living room together.
“Um… I’ll open the windows first!”
Luna heads over to the window with quick steps.
When the morning sunlight pours in, the dust floating in the room sparkles.
“Whoa, it’s worse than I thought…”
“Hyau, s-sorry!”
“Why do you keep apologizing!?”
It’s like a reflex for her now.
While I’m wiping the shelves with a bitter smile,
“…Ehehe♡”
I hear a small laugh from behind me.
“What’s up?”
“N-nothing… it’s just…”
Luna grips the rag tight against her chest and smiles shyly.
“Doing this feels a bit like… we’re newlyweds or something…”
“Bff!?”
I almost inhale a bunch of dust.
“What are you saying!?”
“Ahh!? S-sorry! I didn’t mean it in a weird way…!”
No, that definitely had some weird meaning in it.
Luna’s face turns bright red as she hurriedly starts wiping the table.
Watching her like this makes me feel…
Kinda ticklish inside.
“…But.”
Luna murmurs softly.
“Cleaning the house together with someone… it’s actually really fun♡”
“……”
Her voice sounds genuinely happy.
She probably only ever did things to be useful to others before.
That’s why.
She thinks these simple everyday moments are happiness.
“President, look!”
“Hm?”
When I turn around.
Luna is pulling an old picture frame out from the back of the shelf.
“Is this a photo of the previous owners…?”
It shows a painting of the family that used to live here.
A husband and wife with a little kid.
The colors have faded, but there’s still a warm feeling to it.
“…It really was a house where people lived.”
Luna smiles a little sadly.
“It’s kind of strange. Until yesterday I didn’t have anywhere to go back to…”
She says that.
Then she gently looks over at me.
“But now… I feel like I want to come back here♡”
“……”
That caught me completely off guard.
She said it so naturally.
While I’m stuck for words, Luna suddenly twitches her shoulders like she realized something.
“Ah…! S-sorry! That was too heavy, wasn’t it!?”
“No, not at all.”
“R-really…?”
“Yeah.”
When I nod.
Luna strokes her chest like she’s relieved—
“Ehehe… thank goodness♡”
She smiles like a flower blooming.
