I Secretly Healed the Illness of the Twin Princesses While Wearing a Mask, and Now the Entire Kingdom Is in an Uproar ~Please Stop Trying to Expose the Street Healer~ - Chapter 42
The story takes place in a border town between the Rudelhardt Empire and the Xylica Kingdom.
There lived a father and his daughter there.
“Father!! I don’t want you to die!!”
“…I’m, sorry… Forgive your father… for leaving you… behind…”
“Father!!”
It happened at that moment.
“Baam!! A dynamic from the window!!”
“Kyaa!? W-what!? Who!?”
A man had broken through the window and appeared inside.
He wore a pitch-black outfit and a skull mask that hid his face. On his shoulder rested a huge scythe, and his body was wrapped in silver chains.
The girl tensed up and clearly saw him as suspicious.
Even though she was less than ten years old, she stepped forward as if to protect her father. The man laughed loudly at her bravery.
“Hyahahaha!! Unknown girl, when you ask someone their name, it’s proper manners to introduce yourself first!!”
“Eh, ah, um, I-I’m―”
“Ah, no matter, girl!! I’m bad at remembering names, so you don’t need to say it!!”
“W-what is wrong with you!? First, you say I should tell you my name, then you say I don’t have to!! Are you a thief or something!?”
“A thief!? How rude!! I broke through the window, but calling me a thief is insulting!!”
Breaking through someone’s window would clearly make someone a thief, but the man was too high-energy to notice.
The girl glared at him and said firmly.
“We don’t have any money!! Not even enough to buy the medicine to cure my father… Please, don’t take anything from us…”
“Hyhahaha!! Don’t worry, girl!! There’s only one thing I will take from you!!”
“…I see… So, my savior has come…”
The girl’s father understood.
The masked man before him was the Grim Reaper, who came to take his life.
He closed his eyes quietly.
Feeling sorry to leave his young daughter behind, he prepared to accept the Reaper’s judgment―
“Whatever misunderstanding you have, know that what I take is your sickness, not your life!!”
“Huh?”
Warm light surrounded the girl’s father.
Suddenly, his body, which had felt heavy like lead, became strangely light.
He sat up carefully and checked himself.
“W-what? My sickness has gone? And where is this heat coming from…”
“Father!? Are you okay to get up!?”
“Yeah, I feel completely fine. No, more than fine, I feel even better than before I got sick!!”
“F-father? Father!?”
“Whooooooooooooaaaaa!!”
The father’s body radiated power, and his once-thin frame began to change before their eyes.
His muscles swelled to the point that his clothes began to tear.
“Haah!!”
“Father’s suddenly super muscular!? W-wait!! What did you do to my father!?”
“Eh, I don’t know.”
“Why!?”
The father stood on the bed, striking all kinds of poses, while the girl panicked beside him.
Meanwhile, the masked man muttered to himself.
“Just using a normal Extra Heal and Mind Up together, and it does this? Nothing happened when I tried it on myself…”
Mind Up.
It was a magic that only affected the mind, restoring the target’s energy.
Yet somehow, it ended up turning the father into a super-muscular man.
Even the man who caused it was baffled by the unexpected result.
“Maybe it’s some kind of combo effect. Mental magic still has a lot of room for research…”
“Hey!! Stop mumbling and turn my father back to normal!!”
“It’s fine, Muki!! Your father’s full of energy now, Muki!! From tomorrow, I’ll work hard and earn lots of money, Muki!!”
“My father never spoke like that before!?”
“Of course I did, Muki. Your father has always been like this, Muki.”
The girl shivered at the sight of her father turning into a muscle fairy and begged the man responsible.
“A-ah, p-please, please turn him back. I don’t like this father…!!”
“Muki!?”
“…Hyahahaha!! It’s probably temporary!! By tomorrow morning, he should be back to normal!!”
“Really!? He’ll really turn back!?”
“Yes!! …Maybe!! Definitely!! There’s a chance he might return to normal!!”
“!?”
The man’s vague answer left the girl wide-eyed.
As she moved to demand more, the man had already spun on his heel and jumped out the window.
“Hyahahaha!! Farewell!! Take care!!”
“W-wait!! You weirdo!! Turn my father back!! And leave money for the window repair!!”
“Don’t worry!! The window’s already fixed!!”
“Huh?”
She glanced at the window, and the glass was somehow perfectly fine, just as it had always been.
“At least tell me your name!! I’ll sue you if anything happens!!”
“I am Nameless, call me Nameless!! And don’t even try the serious question of I do have a name! Now, farewell for real!!”
“W-wait!! I wanted to at least thank you… and he’s already gone…”
The figure disappeared into the night so quickly that it was gone in an instant.
The girl stared into the darkness while standing by the window.
“W-what was that…”
“Maybe he was a spirit’s helper, someone who comes to help people in need, Muki.”
“A spirit’s helper, like the ones in old stories that gave heroes their powers?”
“That’s the one, Muki.”
“I don’t want something like that as a spirit’s helper… And father, stop seriously saying Muki.”
“Muki!?”
◆ ◇ ◆
Early morning.
I returned to the Large Tree Pavilion just as the sun was rising and met Ruu on the balcony.
“Welcome back, King Asuku!!”
“Ruu, I’m home.”
“…King Asuku, did something good happen?”
“Oh, you noticed?”
Today was my first time healing people as Nameless, and I discovered a few interesting things.
First, mental magic.
When combined with normal healing magic, it seems to have an unexpected bonus effect.
Since people were exhausted mentally too, I tried using both together as practice and was shocked when the person ended up super muscular.
Another big discovery was the power within my great scythe.
“Ruu, this scythe is amazing.”
“How amazing?”
“When I attack something with it, anything gets fixed as if nothing happened. I found out by accident, though.”
The border town had lots of patrolling guards, so wandering around was tricky.
But when I accidentally hit a guard’s dented helmet while knocking guards aside, it returned to normal, just like that.
As expected of an artifact, its power is incredible.
With this, I can break objects that get in the way of healing without any problem.
“Yawn~. Good morning, Asuku-kun. What are you doing on the balcony? And who is this?”
“Oh, good morning, Ridiel-san. Let me introduce you. This is Ruu, she’s my older sister’s maid.”
I introduced Ruu to Ridiel, and since we were all getting hungry, the three of us sat down to have breakfast together.
