- Chapter 34 - Packed with Things Boys Love
We reached a large room with a door leading to the deepest part of the dungeon.
Standing there and completely still was a pure white robot, as it was easily three meters tall.
We peeked into the room from the hallway and started discussing our plan.
“I’ve got a plan!!”
“…Alright, but what’s the plan?”
“Prepare to be amazed, shorty!! First, I’ll go in front!! Then I’ll smash that golem!! That’s it!!”
“That’s not really a plan.”
Veltica frowned at being called shorty as she glared at the Sword Saint.
The tension in the air was thick. Ugh, I hate this.
“Have Gamran-sama already fought that golem?”
Christina, who had just woken up, asked the Sword Saint. She kept glancing at me, but wasn’t running wild like before. She said, “I don’t want to spend less time with Faceless-sama if I get decapitated again!!”
I was glad she had some sense.
“Yeah!! I tried five times and lost every single one!!”
“Pathetic. And you call yourself a Sword Saint?”
“Veltica-sama, I’ve heard from Maidall that you already know what happened with Gamran-sama, so please calm down for now.”
“…Yes.”
Veltica puffed her cheeks as Christina scolded her.
“Gamran-sama, what kind of attack does that golem use?”
“I don’t know!!”
“…You don’t know?”
“Even though I was at a decent distance, suddenly my whole body had holes in it!! I thought I was dead!!”
When Veltica had healed our injuries earlier, I didn’t think the Sword Saint had those wounds…
What’s going on?
“Even if we don’t know the attack details, we can be sure it can attack from mid-range. I’ll use my magic to protect us, and you two, Gamran-sama and Veltica-sama, will approach the golem and attack.”
“…Wouldn’t it be faster if Princess Christina just used her magic to take it down in one go?”
“I’m terrible at anything other than large-scale army magic…”
Christina said apologetically. Army magic hits a wide area and is very powerful. If used inside the dungeon, it could easily kill everyone here. So we let her focus on defensive magic.
“Understood, Princess Christina.”
“Hyahahaha!! Leave it to me!! I’ll smash it!!”
“…Princess Christina, what should I do?”
“Stay by my side, Faceless-sama. Maybe hold my hand, pat my head. If you want, you could do naughty things like ‘beep (self-censored)’―”
“Understood. I’ll help the two front liners for now.”
“Ahh♡, haa, haa, being treated roughly by Faceless-sama is exciting…♡”
Is this princess unstoppable or what?
“Christina-sama, what should I do?”
“Maidall, stay by my side. It’s dangerous.”
“Understood. So I should hold your hand, pat your head, and do ‘beep (self-censored)’ naughty things?”
“N-no, that’s fine.”
And so, our plan to take down the golem was set.
The Sword Saint charged forward with swords in both his hands.
Veltica followed right after, while facing the pure white golem.
“Hyahahaha!! I’m back!!”
“Beyond this point lies my king’s treasure. None shall pass, no matter how many times they try. ―First Weapon System Activated <Metal Bullet>.”
The robot’s shoulders clicked and transformed, and black tube barrels appeared.
Huh, what?
Well, I kind of guessed it from the look, but in a world with magic, that weapon feels so out of place.
Come on, can we at least stick to the world’s style a little?
“Princess Christina, you should strengthen your protective magic!”
“Ah, y-yes!!”
Christina cast her defensive spell, and layers of semi-transparent honeycomb barriers appeared around us.
Then the tubes on the robot’s shoulders started firing rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat!
It was a full-on machine gun.
Well, magic circles were forming at the barrels just before firing, so I guess it still sort of fits the fantasy world?
“My defensive magic that can even stop army-level spells is cracking!? What is this power!?”
Christina broke into a cold sweat.
But right then, Veltica and the Sword Saint dashed out from the sides of the barrier, attacking the robot from both directions.
Their movements were fast and precise.
The Sword Saint leapt and swung his sword from above, while Veltica tried to swing hers upward from below―
“Second Weapon System Activated: Razor Edge”
Blades of light shot out from the robot’s arms, blocking both of their swords.
Wow… that looked amazing.
“Third Weapon System Activated <Blaster Cannon>.”
The robot’s chest opened with a click, revealing a thirty-centimeter-wide barrel.
Yes, that’s definitely a cannon.
It charged instantly and fired a massive beam of magical energy straight at the Sword Saint.
“Guhah!!”
The blast hit him directly.
The intense heat burned a huge hole in his side and slammed him into the wall, burying him under the rubble.
This is bad. That was a fatal blow. I need to heal him immediately.
I tried to rush to the Sword Saint, but the robot seemed to realize I’m a healer and aimed its shoulder machine guns at me.
“I can’t get close.”
“Hyahahaha!! This looks fun, Faceless!! Let me join too!!”
“Hm?”
The Sword Saint leapt out from the rubble and charged at the robot that had been spraying me with its machine gun.
Wait? Wasn’t that supposed to be a fatal blow?
“That’s the terrifying thing about Sword Saint Gamran-sama.”
“…Princess Christina, what do you mean?”
“Gamran-sama isn’t particularly tough, nor especially strong. But his healing is ridiculous. The bigger the damage he takes, the faster he recovers. It’s a weird and stupid ability…”
“Christina-sama, don’t call the prince stupid.”
…Even if part of his body is blown away, he heals instantly? That’s insane.
“His overwhelming healing gives him incredible endurance. And the more damage he takes―”
“Hyahaha!! This is getting fun!! Give me more!! Make me enjoy this!!”
The Sword Saint clashed swords head-on with the robot.
At first, the robot seemed to have the upper hand, but the Sword Saint began to push back little by little.
His movements were sharper now, and at this pace, he might even accidentally cut my neck.
Christina gave a nervous laugh.
“―His excitement raises his physical ability.”
I see.
Now that she mentions it, the Sword Saint is kind of like me. I also tend to brute-force with healing magic, and getting to heal people gets me pumped up, too.
“Still, that golem is a formidable opponent. Even Gamran-sama in this state can’t finish it off.”
“…That’s frustrating. I’ll have to use my secret move.”
“Veltica-sama? What are…”
“―First Seal Release <Ein Levatein>!!”
Veltica raised her sword, and a crack appeared along the sheath.
Golden light poured out from the crack, wrapping her entire body.
W-whoa, that looks amazing.
“Die, Sword Saint!!”
“Whoa!?”
Veltica swung her sword toward the robot, taking the Sword Saint with her, and a blade of light shot straight forward.
Wait, was she aiming at the Sword Saint?
Maybe she didn’t like that he was starting to overwhelm the robot after mocking him earlier.
The Sword Saint barely dodged the flying light blade, but it hit the robot, who had no way to predict an attack targeting both the Sword Saint and his ally.
Half of the robot’s body vanished, and purple lightning crackled across its frame.
“Damage rate at eighty percent. For security reasons, this unit will self-destruct… ac, tivate…”
Wow, it’s planning to blow itself up?
With all these sci-fi weapons and now a self-destruct function too, this robot really is packed with everything boys love, isn’t it?
But then, the robot froze and stared straight at me for some reason.
Huh? Why is it looking at me?
“―King. Black King. Great King. Why, are you…”
“Eh?”
Is it mistaking me for someone else?
