- Chapter 30 - A Smart Way to Fight, Not a Muscle-Head
I was sent flying into the air in an instant.
A moment later, a dull pain hit my side, and I finally understood what had happened.
Nothing complicated happened. She just punched my stomach with crazy strength, and I got blown away.
“Wow, what amazing strength!!”
“Heroes’ descendants are amazing!!”
Does being a hero’s descendant really matter?
Honestly, I think Veltica is just insanely strong on her own.
But this isn’t the time to think about that.
Veltica kicked off the castle roof and rushed toward me as I was flying through the air.
Her step was so strong that part of the roof almost caved in.
“Take this!! Hyaaah!!”
Her cute shouts didn’t match her speed or power at all.
One hit could crush my bones.
The only thing saving me was that Veltica wasn’t trying to kill me. She wasn’t aiming at places like my head; one clean hit there would end everything.
“You really do heal right away.”
“Then, can’t you just let me go?”
Veltica gave me a fearless grin.
“So that means all I have to do is keep hitting Faceless-san until your magic runs out and you can’t heal anymore!!”
“…That’s pretty muscle-brained.”
“I think someone who rarely defends because he can heal any injury isn’t much better, Faceless-san!?”
“I’m not a muscle-brain. I just fight smartly and efficiently.”
But this is bad.
Veltica is way above me in raw physical ability. At this rate, my magic will run out first, and she’ll catch me.
Then, it’s time to flip the idea around.
Veltica wants to capture me alive, so she can’t kill me.
That means she can’t aim for vital spots like my head, anything that would crush me instantly.
So what happens if I move into her sword on purpose?
“What!? What are you doing!?”
“As I thought, you have no choice but to stop attacks that might kill me.”
“E-eh? Even if you thought of that, normal people wouldn’t actually do it!! If I failed to stop it, you might’ve died!?”
“But that kind of control is easy for you, right?”
“…Hehe, hearing you trust me like that makes me a little happy.”
Veltica let out a small smile.
“But, I’m actually pretty sneaky.”
“Hm?”
Whoosh, something cut through the air.
A moment later, a crossbow bolt stabbed deep into my arm.
Someone shot me. And from pretty far away.
“That’s…”
I looked down and saw a girl standing on the roof of a house in the capital.
It was Ridiel.
To snipe me so accurately from the ground, when I’m hundreds of meters up in the sky and hidden in the darkness, just how skilled is she?
But this isn’t the time to be impressed.
“My hand is going numb…”
“That bolt has paralysis poison on it. It will spread through your whole body soon, and you won’t be able to―”
“Hup!!”
I chopped my own arm off with a hand strike.
“…Huh!? Wait, what are you doing!?”
“I cut it off before the poison could spread through my whole body. It’s faster than trying to heal it the normal way.”
“T-that’s like a crab losing a claw… Are you really okay?”
“I’ll heal it with magic. The pain lasts only a moment, so it’s no problem.”
“E-eeh, that’s scary…”
I don’t see why she’s scared.
Compared to the endless pain and suffering that comes from inside the body, cutting off an arm that I can heal right away is nothing.
“…I understand now. Halfhearted attacks won’t defeat you, Faceless-san. So next, I’ll use an attack that isn’t half hearted at all. Try not to die!!”
“Wait.”
“Take this!!”
Veltica swung her sheathed sword straight down again.
This time, she aimed right at my head, and she clearly didn’t plan on stopping it.
I guarded with both arms and avoided a fatal blow, but the power was too much. I was smashed into the ground.
“Gha.”
It looked like I crashed into the middle of a plaza where injured and sick people were gathered.
Veltica must’ve aimed for an empty spot, because no one around me seemed hurt.
Everyone stared at me.
“Whoa!! W-what the!?”
“Hey, a person just fell from the sky!?”
“Oh, it’s Faceless!!”
“Last month you cured my wife’s illness, thank you!! But stop kicking people’s doors open when you visit!!”
“Yeah, seriously!! I thought you were a robber and almost passed out!! No more breaking into houses for healing visits!!”
Just then, it happened.
Pushing through the crowd that was yelling complaints, Christina appeared.
Ah, and behind her was the maid with both eyes covered, the one I met at the magic tournament.
“I’ve found you, Faceless-sama!! Today I will catch you, make you my husband, and then we’ll ‘beep (self-censored)’ until morning, and after that we’ll ‘beep (self-censored)’ too!! And if possible ―Mmph.”
“Princess Christina, please refrain from saying such extreme things in front of the people.”
“Mmmggh!!”
The maid covered Christina’s mouth.
At the same time, Veltica landed right in front of me and pointed her sheathed sword at me.
“Mmph, Veltica-sama!! Do your best and capture Faceless-sama!!”
“I understand, Princess Christina.”
I clenched my fist and faced Veltica again, when suddenly.
“Hm?”
“What’s that sound…?”
“…Is the ground shaking?”
Gogogo, a deep rumbling echoed.
I had a bad feeling, so I shouted to the nearby crowd.
“Get away from here, now!!”
The people hesitated for a moment, but sensing the danger, they ran off.
And in the next moment.
The ground between Veltica and me collapsed, opening a huge hole, and we both fell deep underground.
Maybe the impact from when I crashed earlier weakened the ground.
“Kya!?”
“Princess Christina, please hold on to me.”
“M-Maidall!!”
“Hm, ah, Princess Christina, you’re clinging to my waist… How adorable. Ehehehe.”
“M-Maidall? Why are you suddenly laughing like that?”
“It’s nothing.”
As I heard Christina and the maid’s voices from above, Veltica and I fell into the abyss below.

Afterword
One-Point Story
Author: “Home-invasion treatment?”
A: “It means breaking into people’s houses to heal the sick or injured. I always leave money for the broken door, so it’s fine.”
If you thought, “He talks about breaking in to heal people like it’s nothing,” “Christina should act a little more like a princess,” “He really leaves money for the door…,” please leave your thoughts, bookmarks, ★ ratings, or reviews.
