Chapter 36 – The Woman Suzuki-San Was Talking About [Hanai Anju’s POV]
[Hanai Anju’s POV]
After crying a lot and talking to my mom, I felt a little lighter.
The next day, as I was getting ready to start my part-time job, I received a message from Suzuki-san.
[Hanai-san, thank you so much for yesterday. I want to see you again]
His words warmed my heart.
I was so happy that Suzuki-san wanted to see me.
In a world where it’s rare for a man to say he wants to see a woman, my first love said he wants to see me.
[I want to see you again too. If I can be of any help to you, please call me anytime]
As I sent him a reply, I made the decision to put a lid on my feelings for Suzuki-san.
♢
And like that, I made an appointment to meet Suzuki-san again that day. I was so excited to see him as I headed to the meeting place.
“Hanai-san, sorry to have kept you waiting.”
Suzuki-san’s smile made my heart warm.
“Hello, Suzuki-san. Where shall we go today?”
“Is there anywhere you’d like to go, Hanai-san?”
I thought for a moment before answering.
“What about the park? We can have a nice chat there again.”
Suzuki-san nodded with a smile.
“That sounds good. Let’s go.”
On the way to the park, my heart started pounding as I walked behind the tall Suzuki-san.
The time I spent with him truly brings me joy and I felt that it was something really precious.
But that happy time came to an end, when suddenly——
A luxurious limousine pulled up.
“Uncle!”
The woman who stepped out of the limousine was taller than me, slender, and stunningly beautiful, like the epitome of beauty.
She was wearing a high school uniform, so I assumed she was younger than me.
She was more perfect than me in every way, and I thought this was the woman Suzuki-san was talking about.
I felt defeated…
I didn’t feel like I could win at anything.
“Yuna-san, what are you doing here?”
Suzuki-san called the woman by her first name. Despite us always calling each other by our last names, even as friends.
“School was closed today, so I was heading home when I saw you, Uncle. And who might this be?”
“Ah, this is Hanai Anju-san. She’s been helping me out with some advice. She’s a friend of mine. Hanai-san, this is Shiratori Yuna-san. She helped me out during that incident before and has been a great help ever since.”
Hearing them call each other “Uncle” and “Yuna-san” so familiarly made my heart sink and tighten in despair.
“…I see. Nice to meet you, I’m Hanai Anju. I’m a student at XX University.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Shiratori Yuna, a third-year student at XX Academy.”
It’s a super elite school!!!
Even though I’m not particularly interested in schools or academies, I was stunned to hear the name of a school I knew.
“Are you two going somewhere?”
“Yes. Hanai-san is accompanying me to change my mood.”
“I see. Uncle, can I talk to Hanai-san for a bit?”
“Huh? Alone with Hanai-san?”
Suzuki-san looked at me.
I was sure she was going to warn me off.
“Huh?! Oh, yes! That’s fine.”
“Thank you. Well then, Uncle, I’m sorry, but I’ll be borrowing Hanai-san for a moment.”
I was lured in by Shiratori-san and got into the limousine.
Suzuki-san seemed at a loss for what to do, and I watched as he headed back toward the park.
