Chapter 30 – On the Other Side
Yuna-san was fitted with a GPS so that Anzai-san and I could keep track of her.
Yuna-san would go to school as usual, and we would be alarmed should there be any danger.
I decided to take time off work to watch over Yuna-san for the period in which Sato Daiki might carry out the kidnapping.
The apartment that Yuna-san had prepared for me had a supermarket and convenience store on the first floor, where I could buy food and other daily necessities.
I cooked for myself while watching over Yuna-san.
However, Sato Daiki made a move sooner than expected.
After school, when Anzai-san went to pick Yuna-san up, Yuna-san didn’t appear.
Checking the GPS, it showed she was still inside the school.
Anzai-san made sure Sato Daiki had left the school, and then sent a separate unit through the back entrance to capture the kidnapper.
“We’ve gathered the details of Sato Daiki’s plan. Uncle, the real challenge starts now.”
After receiving a message from Yuna-san, I also left the apartment.
An email detailing the plan to abduct Yuna-san, which had been sent to the perpetrators, was found, bringing everything to light. This alone was enough to catch the mastermind, but Yuna-san didn’t want to stop there.
“Uncle, all the bugs and traps have been set up. You’ll protect me if anything happens, right?”
“Definitely!”
It was arranged that if Yuna-san and Sato Daiki’s meeting became dangerous, the Shiratori Group’s security team would step in immediately.
“Thank you. I’m off.”
I could feel my chest tighten with anxiety.
Before I knew it, I found myself caring about Yuna-san.
♢
In the room where Yuna-san was supposed to be kidnapped and captured, she is now handcuffed to a chair.
“Suzuki-san, let’s start. Sato has arrived.”
Next to me, Anzai-san is sweating her hands. She must be worried about Yuna-san too.
“Yes!”
My heart is pounding so hard I feel like it’s going to burst.
Even now, I’m torn between praying for Yuna-san’s safety and wondering if I should have stopped everything after all.
“Suzuki-san, now it’s time for the real thing!”
Yuna-san and Sato Daiki are facing each other in the room.
Daiki is threatening and yelling at Yuna-san.
“Don’t look down on me! You’re mine!”
Saying in a quiet voice, Yuna-san looked at him calmly.
“Sato Daiki, I don’t belong to you. I don’t belong to anyone. I live for myself.”
Sato Daiki seemed unable to hide his irritation at Yuna-san’s words and raised his hand.
I couldn’t stand it any longer, so I accessed the monitor that was already set up.
“Sato Daiki, we can see everything you do.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“From the moment you kidnapped Yuna-san, we’ve been tracking your movements. We knew everything about your plan.”
We had also notified the police.
Enraged, Sato Daiki tried to get violent with Yuna-san, so I continued to call out to him.
“Sato Daiki, stop adding more crimes to your list.”
“Dammit…! Y-you…! Don’t make fun of me!”
At that moment, Sato Daiki grabbed Yuna-san.
I immediately stood up to go to the scene, but on the other side of the monitor, I could see Yuna-san’s skirt fluttered as she kicked Sato Daiki on the side of his head.
“Gaha!”
Several police officers rushed in to help Sato Daiki, who had fallen to the ground.
“Don’t move! Sato Daiki, you’re under arrest.”
Sato Daiki collapsed on the spot, with a look of despair on his face.
As I stared at the monitor in shock, Anzai-san gave me a word of advice.
“The young lady is a martial arts master. A man of that level who is only an amateur won’t be a problem as long as he doesn’t have a gun.”
It seems that part of the plan for a “safe kidnapping” included her ability to defend herself.
Feeling a wave of relief, I sank back into my chair.
I watched the situation at the scene on the monitor for a while, and finally Yuna-san arrived in a car with the security team.
She will need to go to the police station for questioning, but since she appears to be unharmed, I felt reassured.
But the moment I saw Yuna-san…
“Uncle!”
I found myself embracing her.
“I’m sorry for putting you in such danger.”
I probably came across as pathetic. But I never expected to witness something so dramatic unfold right in front of me, and I just couldn’t keep up with my emotions.
