I Reincarnated as the Villain Who Bullies the Protagonist in an Erotic Game, but I Just Want to Stay a Nobody, Yet Somehow the Heroines Keep Obsessing Over Me - Episode 57: Midnight Standoff
Episode 57: Midnight Standoff
“Hey, no way! This is scary!” “That may be, but still, a guy and a girl sleeping in the same room isn’t a good idea. The situation’s different this time.”
“But, but, but, you’re the one who suggested watching that movie, Kaede! So I think you’re responsible.”
“Ugh…” The argument with Kana had been going on for a while now.
She was trying to force her way into my bedroom, and I was doing my best to hold her off. The horror movie we’d watched earlier had been scarier than anticipated, and she didn’t want to sleep alone.
“I know it’s partly my fault for not saying no, but you looked like you wanted to watch it, Kaede. And I don’t hate scary stuff that much, so I thought it’d be fine. I didn’t think it’d be that scary.”
“Yeah, sorry about that. It’s been called the scariest horror movie of the year.” “Right?! So I think it’s fair to say that not warning me puts some of the blame on you, too.”
Kana puffed out her cheeks in frustration. Wait a second—this girl is kind of spoiled, right?
“Okay, you’ve got a point, but still…” “See?” “Even so, we’re not a couple, and it just doesn’t feel right for a guy and a girl to share a bed.”
“Hmm…” Kana looked like she was deep in thought. Maybe she’d finally give up…
“If you don’t have any intentions, then it should be fine. Besides, I’m okay with it, so there’s no problem, right?”
No, it’s definitely still a problem. “We’re not a couple, so I don’t think it’s appropriate.”
I made my stance clear, and Kana pouted again. I mean, I’m saving myself for someone I truly like. Plus, the whole thing feels like a massive death flag waiting to happen.
Not to mention, this situation is already nerve-wracking enough. Kana is one of my favorite heroines from the game, and remembering certain scenes makes this even more complicated.
“None of that matters!” “That’s such an old line!” “Just for tonight, okay? Please, just tonight! I’m going home tomorrow anyway.”
She gave me the ultimate weapon: puppy-dog eyes paired with a slightly teary expression.
If she starts crying, things will get even worse… Maybe it’s better to just go along with this for now.
“Alright, alright, fine. But we’re sleeping on opposite sides, and no touching. Promise?”
“Thank you, Kaede! You’re the best!” Kana cheerfully entered my room, leaving me to sigh and follow her.
“Your room doesn’t have as many anime goods as I expected.” “I don’t buy much, that’s all.”
“Really? Oh, but yeah, some people don’t collect stuff like that.” Kana started inspecting the room, glancing around curiously.
I was fairly confident there wasn’t anything incriminating here—thanks, Nishikikouji.
“So, do you have any dirty magazines?” “I do not!” “Are you sure? Like, under the bed maybe?” Kana crouched down and started reaching under the bed.
Come on, Nishikikouji, you wouldn’t hide anything so cliché, right? “Huh? What’s this…?”
Kana pulled something out and froze, her face turning bright red. What she held was unmistakably a dirty magazine.
The cover featured a stunning black-haired beauty smiling coyly. As for the lower half… well, you get the idea.
I took the magazine from her and tucked it into a drawer. It might come in handy someday, after all.
Kana just stood there, still holding the pose where she’d retrieved the magazine. Five seconds later, her ears went as red as her cheeks.
“I… I’ll sleep in the other room after all.” “Y-yeah.” “Kaede, you’re a boy after all.” “…Yeah.” “I guess boys do want to read stuff like that sometimes.”
“Maybe…” “Good night!” “Good night.” The awkward tension lingered as Kana hurried out of the room.
Damn you, Nishikikouji. “Well, might as well sleep now.”
It was already 1 a.m. The horror movie and my standoff with Kana had made it a late night.
I turned off the lights and lay down, my exhaustion finally catching up to me. Before long, I drifted off—
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a strange space. Everything was pure white, stretching endlessly in every direction. I even felt like I was floating.
This must be… a dream? “What is this place?”
It felt eerie, but I started walking. I had gone to sleep earlier, so if this was a dream, nothing here could hurt me.
Then again, it was unnerving just standing around. I wanted to wake up and leave this weird dream behind.
That’s when I blinked—and a figure appeared before me. A slender young man with light brown hair and a distinct beauty mark near his eye. His androgynous features gave him an unusual, almost villainous charm.
No mistaking it—this was Nishikikouji Kaede, from before. …No, wait. I wasn’t him anymore. My current appearance was different.
Which meant— “Good evening. Allow me to introduce myself—Kaede Nishikikoji, the one and only.”
The figure smiled, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
