I Reincarnated as the Villain Who Bullies the Protagonist in an Erotic Game, but I Just Want to Stay a Nobody, Yet Somehow the Heroines Keep Obsessing Over Me - Episode 48: Breakfast
Episode 48: Breakfast
“Let’s eat.” Together, we clapped our hands and reached for the rolled omelet. As I took a bite, the savory dashi flavor spread through my mouth.
“This is amazing.” “Really? I’m pretty good at cooking, so that makes me happy!”
Kana smiled brightly. The rice was perfectly fluffy, and the miso soup was rich with dashi—it was all delicious.
“I didn’t know you were such a good cook.” “I haven’t been cooking much lately. But, you know, my parents often come home late, so I’ve been making my meals since I was little.”
“Ah, I see.” “But it’s not a sad story or anything! I’m grateful. Thanks to that, I got good at housework.”
“Yeah. Seriously, this is delicious. Honestly, this might be the best food I’ve ever had.”
“Really…? That makes me so happy. I never knew how much fun it could be to cook for someone and have them enjoy it. Nishikikouji-kun, you make it so rewarding by eating with such enthusiasm.”
“Yeah, I get that… It’s great when someone enjoys the food you’ve made.” I thought back to yesterday’s fried rice.
It probably wasn’t as good as Kanai’s cooking, but she had eaten it so eagerly, saying it was delicious over and over again.
“By the way, there’s something I wanted to ask… if it’s okay.” “Anything but my weight or measurements.”
“Wha—!? I wouldn’t ask about that! …Uh, I was wondering what you’re planning to do about school today.”
It had been on my mind since last night. The situation wasn’t fully “put out” yet, so school was bound to be tough for her. Girls are especially sensitive to things like this.
“Huh? Are you really not curious about my measurements? …Well, anyway. Hmm, I guess I’ll just endure it for now.”
“Are you not planning to tell your side of the story?” “I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference. I don’t mind if it spreads on social media or whatever, but I’m not sure anyone would believe me.
I didn’t deny it right away yesterday, so if I suddenly start explaining today, it’ll just seem suspicious, right? That’s why I’ll just tough it out.”
“I see…” It’s true, it might be hard for people to believe Kanai’s side of the story if she’s the one to tell it. I think there’s a good chance they’d listen to her. But judging from what happened yesterday, there’s also a possibility they won’t.
So, what can I do? Do I just sit back and watch, unable to do anything? Do I leave her to face this hardship alone?
“I get it. Things will probably settle down in a while.” “Hm? Yeah, I think so too. Things will be okay after some time.”
Kana nodded. Watching her, I sipped the last of my miso soup. The real battle would be during today’s lunch break.
